Microwave studies on synthesis of biologically active chalcone derivatives
927-931Synthesis of pyrazole derivative using microwave energy has been carried out. The compound 1-[4-(2-hydroxy-ethoxy)-phenyl]-ethanone, is prepared from p-hydroxy-acetophenone and 2-chloro-ethanol. Chalcone derivative has been prepared by the condensation reaction of 1-[4-(2-hydroxy-ethoxy)-phenyl]-ethanone with 4-chlorobenzaldehyde. This chalcone derivative cyclised with hydrazine hydrate and glacial acetic acid under microwave irradiation conditions give pyrazole derivative. These products have been characterized by detailed spectral analysis and have been screened for their antimicrobial activity, against Escherichia coli, Proteus vulgaris, and Salmonella typhimurium
A simple method for deprotection of <i>tert</i>-butyldimethylsilyl ethers by using stannous chloride under microwave irradiation
322-324A facile regeneration of hydroxy compounds from their tert-butyldimethylsilyl ethers in presence of stannous chloride under solvent free conditions using domestic microwave oven has been performed efficiently in a short period (5-6 min). The conversion using stannous chloride in ethanol or water for comparison of the efficiency has been described. The generality of the transformation has been confirmed by several examples
<i style="">Sterculia guttata</i> seeds extractives - An effective mosquito larvicide
662-665The larvicidal activity of ethanol,
chloroform and hexane soxhlet extracts obtained from S. guttata seeds was investigated against the IVth
instar larvae of Dengue fever vector, Aedes
aegypti and filarial vector, Culex
quinquefasciatus. All extracts including fractions of ethanol extract
exhibited 100% larval kill within 24 hr exposure period at 500 ppm
concentration. Fraction A1 of
ethanol was found to be most promising; its LC50 was 21.552 and 35.520
ppm against C. quinquefasciatus and A. aegypti respectively. Naturally
occurring S. guttata seed derived
fractions merit further study as potential mosquito larval control agents or
lead compounds
Greener Ullmann-type coupling of aryl halides for preparing biaryls using reusable Pd/ZrO2 catalyst
Biaryls with excellent yields can be prepared by the Ullmann-type coupling of aryl halides in the presence of potassium carbonate (as a base) and dimethylformamide (as a solvent), at 140 ° C, using a reusable Pd (2.5 wt%)/ZrO2 catalyst. The product yield of 4-iodoanisole coupling is strongly influenced by the catalyst preparation method, solvent, and base
Selective removal of the <i>N-</i>(<i>tert-</i>butoxycarbonyl) protecting group using H-β zeolite
1004-1007A simple and efficient
protocol for the selective removal of Boc group from nitrogen atom in conjugation
with an aromatic system employing H-β
zeolite
is described
