    Vaccination in emergencies.

    Get PDF
Nongovernmental organisations (NGOs) are the main actors of vaccine delivery during complex humanitarian emergencies such as large population displacements. This paper discusses the use of vaccinations against measles, cholera and meningitis in this context. The role of NGOs in the advocacy for making new and more effective vaccines available to the most vulnerable populations is also emphasised

An adaptive multi-level model for multi-scale ductile fracture analysis in heterogeneous aluminum alloys

This paper addresses the multi-scale modeling of ductile fracture in microstructures characterized by a dispersion of hard and brittle heterogeneities in a softer ductile matrix. An adaptive multi-level model is developed with different inter-scale transfer operators and interfaces. Micro-mechanical analysis in regions of dominant damage is performed to capture the important micro-mechanical damage modes that are responsible for deterring the overall failure properties of these alloys. Regions of macroscopic homogeneity are otherwise modeled with constitutive relations derived from homogenization of evolving variables in representative volume elements. These two length scales of analysis, in conjunction with an intermediate swing level, form a three-level coupled multi-scale model to capture ductile crack propagation. The capabilities of the proposed model are demonstrated for a cast aluminum alloy

Formally Specifying and Proving Operational Aspects of Forensic Lucid in Isabelle

    Get PDF
A Forensic Lucid intensional programming language has been proposed for intensional cyberforensic analysis. In large part, the language is based on various predecessor and codecessor Lucid dialects bound by the higher-order intensional logic (HOIL) that is behind them. This work formally specifies the operational aspects of the Forensic Lucid language and compiles a theory of its constructs using Isabelle, a proof assistant system.Comment: 23 pages, 3 listings, 3 figures, 1 table, 1 Appendix with theorems, pp. 76--98.
