Approximate OWL-Reasoning with Screech

Get PDF
Applications of expressive ontology reasoning for the Semantic Web require scalable algorithms for deducing implicit knowledge from explicitly given knowledge bases. Besides the development of more effi- cient such algorithms, awareness is rising that approximate reasoning solutions will be helpful and needed for certain application domains. In this paper, we present a comprehensive overview of the Screech approach to approximate reasoning with OWL ontologies, which is based on the KAON2 algorithms, facilitating a compilation of OWL DL TBoxes into Datalog, which is tractable in terms of data complexity. We present three different instantiations of the Screech approach, and report on experiments which show that a significant gain in efficiency can be achieved

ChPT tests at the NA48 and NA62 experiments at CERN

Full text link
The NA48/2 Collaboration at CERN has accumulated unprecedented statistics of rare kaon decays in the Ke4 modes: Ke4(+-) (K±π+πe±νK^\pm o \pi^+ \pi^- e^\pm
u) and Ke4(00) (K±π0π0e±νK^\pm  o \pi^0 \pi^0 e^\pm
u) with nearly one percent background contamination. The detailed study of form factors and branching rates, based on these data, has been completed recently. The results brings new inputs to low energy strong interactions description and tests of Chiral Perturbation Theory (ChPT) and lattice QCD calculations. In particular, new data support the ChPT prediction for a cusp in the π0π0\pi^0\pi^0 invariant mass spectrum at the two charged pions threshold for Ke4(00) decay. New final results from an analysis of about 400 K±π±γγK^\pm o \pi^\pm \gamma \gamma rare decay candidates collected by the NA48/2 and NA62 experiments at CERN during low intensity runs with minimum bias trigger configurations are presented. The results include a model-independent decay rate measurement and fits to ChPT description.Comment: XIIth International Conference on Heavy Quarks and Leptons 2014, Mainz, German

The NA48/2 Collaboration at CERN has accumulated and analysed unprecedented statistics of rare kaon decays in the Ke4K_{e4} modes: Ke4(+)K_{e4}(+-) (K±π+πe±νK^\pm o \pi^+ \pi^- e^\pm
u) and Ke4(00)K_{e4}(00) (K±π0π0e±νK^\pm  o \pi^0 \pi^0 e^\pm
u) with nearly one percent background contamination. It leads to the improved measurement of branching fractions and detailed form factor studies. New final results from the analysis of 381 K±π±γγK^\pm o \pi^\pm \gamma \gamma rare decay candidates collected by the NA48/2 and NA62 experiments at CERN are presented. The results include a decay rate measurement and fits to Chiral Perturbation Theory (ChPT) description.Comment: Prepared for the Proceedings of "Moriond QCD and High Energy Interactions. Using Semantic Web technologies in the development of data warehouses: A systematic mapping

Get PDF
The exploration and use of Semantic Web technologies have attracted considerable attention from researchers examining data warehouse (DW) development. However, the impact of this research and the maturity level of its results are still unclear. The objective of this study is to examine recently published research articles that take into account the use of Semantic Web technologies in the DW arena with the intention of summarizing their results, classifying their contributions to the field according to publication type, evaluating the maturity level of the results, and identifying future research challenges. Three main conclusions were derived from this study: (a) there is a major technological gap that inhibits the wide adoption of Semantic Web technologies in the business domain;(b) there is limited evidence that the results of the analyzed studies are applicable and transferable to industrial use; and (c) interest in researching the relationship between DWs and Semantic Web has decreased because new paradigms, such as linked open data, have attracted the interest of researchers.This study was supported by the Universidad de La Frontera, Chile, PROY. Empirical parameterization of the K+- -> pi+- pi0 pi0 decay Dalitz plot

Get PDF
As first observed by the NA48/2 experiment at the CERN SPS, the \p0p0 invariant mass (M00) distribution from \kcnn decay shows a cusp-like anomaly at M00=2m+, where m+ is the charged pion mass. An analysis to extract the pi pi scattering lengths in the isospin I=0 and I=2 states, a0 and a2, respectively, has been recently reported. In the present work the Dalitz plot of this decay is fitted to a new empirical parameterization suitable for practical purposes, such as Monte Carlo simulations of K+- -> pi+- pi0 pi0 decays.Comment: 9 pages, 3 figures

First Observation and Measurement of the Decay K+- -> pi+- e+ e- gamma

Using the full data set of the NA48/2 experiment, the decay K+- -> pi+- e+ e- gamma is observed for the first time, selecting 120 candidates with 7.3 +- 1.7 estimated background events. With K+- -> pi+- pi0D as normalisation channel, the branching ratio is determined in a model-independent way to be Br(K+- -> pi+- e+ e- gamma, m_eegamma > 260 MeV/c^2) = (1.19 +- 0.12_stat +- 0.04_syst) x 10^-8. This measured value and the spectrum of the e+ e- gamma invariant mass allow a comparison with predictions of Chiral Perturbation Theory.Comment: 13 pages, 3 figures.     Search for direct CP-violation in K+- --> pi+-pi0pi0 decays

Get PDF
A search for direct CP-violation in K+- --> pi+-pi0pi0 decays based on 47.14 million events has been performed by the NA48/2 experiment at the CERN SPS. The asymmetry in the Dalitz plot linear slopes A_g=(g^+ - g^-)/(g^+ + g^-) is measured to be A_g=(1.8 +- 2.6).10^{-4}. The design of the experiment and the method of analysis provide good control of instrumental charge asymmetries in this measurement. The precision of the result is limited by statistics and is almost one order of magnitude better than that of previous measurements by other experiments.Comment: 14 page

Abstract A sample of 1.69 7 10 7 fully reconstructed \u3c0 0 → \u3b3 e + e 12 decay candidates collected by the NA48/2 experiment at \{CERN\} in 2003–2004 is analyzed to search for the dark photon ( A ′ ) production in the \u3c0 0 → \u3b3 A ′ decay followed by the prompt A ′ → e + e 12 decay. No signal is observed, and an exclusion region in the plane of the dark photon mass m A ′ and mixing parameter \u3b5 2 is established. The obtained upper limits on \u3b5 2 are more stringent than the previous limits in the mass range 9 \ua0 MeV / c 2 < m A ′ < 70 \ua0 MeV / c 2 . The NA48/2 sensitivity to the dark photon production in the K \ub1 → \u3c0 \ub1 A ′ decay is also evaluated

The NA48/2 experiment at CERN collected two data samples with minimum bias trigger conditions in 2003 and 2004. A measurement of the rate and dynamic properties of the rare decay K±π±γγK^\pm o\pi^\pm\gamma\gamma from these data sets based on 149 decay candidates with an estimated background of 15.5±0.715.5\pm0.7 events is reported. The model-independent branching ratio in the kinematic range z=(mγγ/mK)2>0.2z=(m_{\gamma\gamma}/m_K)^2>0.2 is measured to be BMI(z>0.2)=(0.877±0.089)×106{\cal B}_{\rm MI}(z>0.2) = (0.877 \pm 0.089)  imes 10^{-6}, and the branching ratio in the full kinematic range assuming a particular Chiral Perturbation Theory description to be B(Kπγγ)=(0.910±0.075)×106{\cal B}(K_{\pi\gamma\gamma}) = (0.910 \pm 0.075)  imes 10^{-6}

Precise tests of low energy QCD from Ke4 decay properties

We report results from the analysis of the K\ub1 → pi+ pi 12 e\ub1 \u3bd (Ke4 ) decay by the NA48/2 collaboration at the CERN SPS, based on the total statistics of 1.13 million decays collected in 2003–2004. The hadronic form factors in the S- and P-wave and their variation with energy are obtained. The phase difference between the S- and P-wave states of the pion pion system is accurately measured and allows a precise determination of a00 and a02 , the I = 0 and I = 2 S-wave pion pion scattering lengths: a00 = 0.2220 \ub1 0.0128stat \ub1 0.0050syst \ub1 0.0037th , a02 = 120.0432 \ub1 0.0086stat \ub1 0.0034syst \ub1 0.0028th . Combination of this result with the other NA48/2 measurement obtained in the study of K\ub1 → pi0 pi0 pi\ub1 decays brings an improved determination of a00 and the first precise experimental measurement of a02, providing a stringent test ofChiral Perturbation Theory predictions and lattice QCD calculations. Using constraints based on analyticity and chiral symmetry, even more precise values are obtained: a00 = 0.2196 \ub1 0.0028stat \ub1 0.0020syst and a02 = 120.0444 \ub10.0007stat \ub1 0.0005syst \ub1 0.0008ChPT
