Winter visitors to Yellowstone National Park, their value orientations and support for management actions

    Get PDF
The idea of a National Park contains a diversity of values and missions. This paper takes a multi-dimensional, context- specific approach to measuring the perceived values of Yellowstone National Park. It is an initial step in recording how perceptions of National Parks are changing over time. Responses of 1064 winter visitors to 24 park value items were factor and cluster analyzed to produce four groups. Examination of the relationship between cluster membership and support / opposition to a variety of management actions showed significant differences for all 19 proposed actions. Groups of visitors with different value orientations showed correspondingly different levels of support for management actions. The National Park Service (and other natural resource agencies) can, therefore, expect to encounter and manage for a diversity of perceived values and conflicting attitudes towards park management and planning

    Student Scheduling

[First Paragraph] Developing the master schedule and subsequent student schedules is one of the most important administrative tasks of the principal. Ensuring that appropriate courses are offered and that teachers are teaching courses they want to teach can go a long way toward creating a positive climate and an atmosphere where learning occurs. There are three ways in which student schedules can be developed: Computer, arena, and manual. Each approach has its own strengths and weaknesses. Principals must decide which approach is best for the school based on philosophy and available resources

A note on the rare decay of a Higgs boson into photons and a ZZ boson

We have calculated the width of the rare decay H→γγZH\to\gamma\gamma Z at one-loop level in the standard model for Higgs boson masses in the range 115GeV≤mH≤160GeV115 {\rm GeV} \leq m_H \leq 160 {\rm GeV} . For this range of Higgs boson masses we find that ZZ boson is predominantly longitudinally polarized, and the photons have the same helicity. A comparison of the decay width Γ(H→γγZ)\Gamma(H\to \gamma\gamma Z) to those of H→γγH\to\gamma\gamma and H→γZH\to\gamma Z shows that, for the Higgs boson mass of mH∼135GeVm_H \sim 135 \rm{GeV}, the ratios of the decay widths are Γ(H→γγZ)/Γ(H→γγ)∼Γ(H→γγZ)/Γ(H→γZ)∼10−5−10−6\Gamma(H\to\gamma\gamma Z) / \Gamma(H\to\gamma\gamma) \sim \Gamma(H\to\gamma\gamma Z) / \Gamma(H\to\gamma Z) \sim 10^{-5}-10^{-6}.Comment: 4 pages, 5 figures, RevTe

Do Students Get Enough Information Systems Education in the Business Core?

    Get PDF
Information Systems/Technology is a key component in today’s business infrastructures with a myriad of ever-increasing and innovative applications fuelling the drive for competitive advantage. Therefore information systems education should be a critical element in business schools programs today to appropriately prepare students to be competitive. As our university was seeking AACSB accreditation we wanted to investigate what other programs were doing for the information systems area in the business core. Therefore data was acquired from 61 peer institutions, 89% of which are AACSB-accredited. Data about the components of the business core were collected from the university websites and analysed to determine the amount of the business core curriculum devoted to information systems. Analysis indicates that 85% of the peer institutions had one information systems course and only three percent had two information systems courses
