    Nonlinear ac response of anisotropic composites

    When a suspension consisting of dielectric particles having nonlinear characteristics is subjected to a sinusoidal (ac) field, the electrical response will in general consist of ac fields at frequencies of the higher-order harmonics. These ac responses will also be anisotropic. In this work, a self-consistent formalism has been employed to compute the induced dipole moment for suspensions in which the suspended particles have nonlinear characteristics, in an attempt to investigate the anisotropy in the ac response. The results showed that the harmonics of the induced dipole moment and the local electric field are both increased as the anisotropy increases for the longitudinal field case, while the harmonics are decreased as the anisotropy increases for the transverse field case. These results are qualitatively understood with the spectral representation. Thus, by measuring the ac responses both parallel and perpendicular to the uniaxial anisotropic axis of the field-induced structures, it is possible to perform a real-time monitoring of the field-induced aggregation process.Comment: 14 pages and 4 eps figure

    An empowerment program that claims to be a program based on the wishes and needs of the community, but ironically the community still does not feel the ownership of the programs so it is not strange that many programs are only for the lifetime of the project and end up without a significant impact on people's lives as one of the programs of 16 programs of the Department of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Bengkalis is the development program of aquaculture. The problems in this research are; How is the implementation of fishery aquaculture development program in Kecamatan Bantan by Department of Marine and Fisheries of Bengkalis in 2015 ?. What are the obstacles in implementing the program of development of aquaculture in Kecamatan Bantan by the Department of Marine Affairs and Fisheries of in 2015? The type of research is qualitative research. Data collection techniques in research, interviews, Documentation Search, Observation. Sources of data in this study are primary data and secondary data. Based on the results of research conducted that the Program of freshwater fishery cultivation (pond) needs to evaluate the process of implementation of fishery aquaculture development program to determine the suitability between program planning and program implementation. Implementation of the program is in accordance with the planning prepared. But there are program planning that is not well realized, that is in the activity of fishery development and development. Inhibition of Fishery Cultivation Development Program is a communication between government agencies in empowering Fishery Development Program, the lack of human resources that can to implement the Program of Aquaculture Development in accordance with the existing policy, the subsequent lack of socialization which is mainly done by the fisheries and marine agencies

Let Lp(Gm,Fp,SymkKln+1,s)L_p({\bf G}_{m,{\bf F}_p}, {\rm Sym}^k{\rm Kl}_{n+1}, s) be the LL-function of the kk-fold symmetric product of Kln+1{\rm Kl}_{n+1}.     Ultrafast Magneto-Acoustics in Nickel Films

    We report about the existence of magneto-acoustic pulses propagating in a 200-nm-thick ferromagnetic nickel film excited with 120 fs laser pulses. They result from the coupling between the magnetization of the ferromagnetic film and the longitudinal acoustic waves associated to the propagation of the lattice deformation induced by the femtosecond laser pulses. The magneto-acoustic pulses are detected from both the front and back sides of the film, using the time-resolved magneto-optical Kerr technique, measuring both the time dependent rotation and ellipticity. We show that the propagating acoustic pulse couples efficiently to the magnetization and is strong enough to induce a precession of the magnetization. It is due to a transient change of the crystalline anisotropy associated to the lattice deformation. It is shown that the results can be interpreted by combining the concepts of acoustic pulse propagation and ultrafast magnetization dynamics.Comment: 4 pages, 3 figures, Submitted to Physical Review Letters on November 30th 201

    Dust ion-acoustic shocks in quantum dusty pair-ion plasmas

    The formation of dust ion-acoustic shocks (DIASs) in a four-component quantum plasma whose constituents are electrons, both positive and negative ions and immobile charged dust grains, is studied. The effects of both the dissipation due to kinematic viscosity and the dispersion caused by the charge separation as well as the quantum tunneling due to the Bohm potential are taken into account. The propagation of small but finite amplitude dust ion-acoustic waves (DIAWs) is governed by the Korteweg-de Vries-Burger (KdVB) equation which exhibits both oscillatory and monotonic shocks depending not only on the viscosity parameters, but also on the quantum parameter H (the ratio of the electron plasmon to the electron Fermi energy) and the positive to negative ion density ratio. Large amplitude stationary shocks are recovered for a Mach number exceeding its critical value. Unlike the small amplitude shocks, quite a smaller value of the viscosity parameter, H and the density ratio may lead to the large amplitude monotonic shock strucutres. The results could be of importance in astrophysical and laser produced plasmas.Comment: 15 pages, 5 figure

    Different contributions of the hippocampus and perirhinal cortex to recognition memory

    Brain regions involved in visual recognition memory, including the hippocampus, have been investigated by measuring differential neuronal activation produced by novel and familiar pictures. Novel and familiar pictures were presented simultaneously, one to each eye, using a paired viewing procedure. Differential neuronal activation was determined using immunohistochemistry for the protein products of c-fos as an imaging technique. The results establish that the regions of the rat brain associated with discriminating the novelty or familiarity of an individual item (such as a single object) differ from those responding to a spatial array of items (such as a scene). Perirhinal cortex and area TE of the temporal lobe are activated significantly more by pictures of novel than of familiar individual objects, but the hippocampus is not differentially activated. In contrast, pictures of novel arrangements of familiar items produce significantly greater activation than familiar arrangements of these items in postrhinal cortex and subfield CA1 of the hippocampus but significantly less activation in the dentate gyrus and subiculum; perirhinal cortex and area TE are not differentially activated. Thus, the hippocampus is importantly involved in processing information essential to recognition memory concerning the relative familiarity of arrangements of items, as needed for episodic memory of scenes, whereas the perirhinal cortex processes such information for individual items
