Economic Impact and Control of Wading Birds at Arkanas Minnow Ponds
Esophageal/stomach contents of 172 little blue herons (Egretta caerulea), great egrets (Casmerodius albus), snowy egrets (Egretta thula), and great blue herons (Ardea herodias) were analyzed to estimate their consumption of golden shiners. Mean and maximum number of golden shiners consumed/bird, as well as the mean total length of golden shiners consumed by each wading bird species was determined. Loss estimates varied by wading bird species and ranged from 1.12/bird/feeding. Loss estimates reflect the severity of problems with wading birds on minnow ponds and the need to reduce losses by use of effective control methods
Fcc-bcc transition for Yukawa interactions determined by applied strain deformation
Calculations of the work required to transform between bcc and fcc phases
yield a high-precision bcc-fcc transition line for monodisperse point Yukawa
(screened-Couloumb) systems. Our results agree qualitatively but not
quantitatively with previously published simulations and phenomenological
criteria for the bcc-fcc transition. In particular, the bcc-fcc-fluid triple

Transition Probabilities for Trichoplusia ni (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) Larvae on Cabbage as a Function of Microclimate
To identify factors affecting the spatial dynamics of Trichoplusia ni (Hübner) on cabbage, the movements of individual larvae were monitored. Larvae were marked with 32p and released individually, one per plant, on cabbage plants in research plots. Their movements were monitored by recording their position on the plant daily, locating them with a Geiger counter. In the same plots, hourly measurements of temperature and relative humidity were recorded in three different parts of the crop canopy. Transition probabilities for the larvae from and to each of five vertical plant strata were modeled as definite integrals of the Beta probability density function (pdf). The shape parameters for these Beta pdf's were modeled as a function of microclimate, and the necessary parameters to do so were estimated by the method of maximum likelihood. This model predicted the data well and was more efficient than logistic regression. The model predicts that under high temperatures and low vapor pressure deficit (vpd), larvae move down to the shaded, cooler, lower parts of the plant; whereas under low temperatures and high vpd, they moved upward toward the economically important wrapper leaves and cabbage head
Effect of Intraplant Insect Movement on Economic Thresholds
A simulation model was constructed to examine the effects of intraplant spatial dynamics of the lepidopteran pest complex of cabbage on direct damage to the marketable parts of the plant. Diurnal fluctuations in microclimate for different parts of the crop canopy were simulated with sine functions. Larval development rates for each species were simulated with logistic functions of temperature, the development process with time-varying distributed delays, and feeding rates with exponential functions of temperature and larval age. Larval transition probabilities within the crop canopy were modeled with either constants or definite integrals of the Beta probability density function, the shape parameters of which were modeled as functions of temperature. The model provided a good fit to data on changes in intraplant distribution of these larvae and intraplant distribution of feeding damage. Evaluation of model predictions suggests that a threshold population density used for management decisions should not be static, but should be a complex function of species, larval age distribution, and forecast temperatures. Background: Albuminuria marks renal disease and cardiovascular risk. It was estimated to contribute 75% of the risk of all-cause natural death in one Aboriginal group. The urine albumin/creatinine ratio (ACR) is commonly used as an index of albuminuria. This study aims to examine the associations between demographic factors, anthropometric index, blood pressure, lipid-protein measurements and other biomarkers and albuminuria in a cross-sectional study in a high-risk Australian Aboriginal population. The models will be evaluated for albuminuria at or above the microalbuminuria threshold, and at or above the "overt albuminuria" threshold with the potential to distinguish associations they have in common and those that differ
The prevalence of Fabry disease in a statewide chronic kidney disease cohort – Outcomes of the aCQuiRE (Ckd.Qld fabRy Epidemiology) study
Background: Prevalence of Fabry disease amongst Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) patients on haemodialysis has been shown to be approximately 0.2%.
Methods: We undertook a cross-sectional study employing a cascade screening strategy for Fabry Disease amongst 3000 adult, male and female patients affected by CKD stage 1-5D/T at public, specialty renal practices within participating Queensland Hospital and Health Services from October 2017 to August 2019. A multi-tiered FD screening strategy, utilising a combination of dried blood spot (DBS) enzymatic testing, and if low, then lyso-GB3 testing and DNA sequencing, was used.
Results: Mean (SD) age was 64.0 (15.8) years (n = 2992), and 57.9% were male. Eight participants withrew out of the 3000 who consented. Of 2992 screened, 6 (0.20%) received a diagnosis of FD, 2902 (96.99%) did not have FD, and 84 (2.81%) received inconclusive results. Of the patients diagnosed with FD, mean age was 48.5 years; 5 were male (0.29%) and 1 was female (0.08%); 4 were on kidney replacement therapy (2 dialysis and 2 transplant); 3 were new diagnoses.
Conclusions: Estimated overall FD prevalence was 0.20%. Screening of the broader CKD population may be beneficial in identifying cases of FD. The relationship between the perception of distributed leadership in secondary schools and teachers' and teacher leaders' job satisfaction and organizational commitment
This study investigates the relation between distributed leadership, the cohesion of the leadership team, participative decision-making, context variables, and the organizational commitment and job satisfaction of teachers and teacher leaders. A questionnaire was administered to teachers and teacher leaders (n=1770) from 46 large secondary schools. Multiple regression analyses and path analyses revealed that the study variables explained significant variance in organizational commitment. The degree of explained variance for job satisfaction was considerably lower compared to organizational commitment. Most striking was that the cohesion of the leadership team and the amount of leadership support was strongly related to organizational commitment, and indirectly to job satisfaction. Decentralization of leadership functions was weakly related to organizational commitment and job satisfaction
A comparison of statistical hadronization models
We investigate the sensitivity of fits of hadron spectra produced in heavy
ion collisions to the choice of statistical hadronization model. We start by
giving an overview of statistical model ambiguities, and what they tell us
about freeze-out dynamics. We then use Montecarlo generated data to determine
sensitivity to model choice. We fit the statistical hadronization models under
consideration to RHIC data, and find that a comparison fits can shed
