Wafer-level packaged RF-MEMS switches fabricated in a CMOS fab

    Get PDF
Reports on wafer-level packaged RF-MEMS switches fabricated in a commercial CMOS fab. Switch fabrication is based on a metal surface micromachining process. A novel wafer-level packaging scheme is developed, whereby the switches are housed in on-chip sealed cavities using benzocyclobutene (BCB) as the bonding and sealing material. Measurements show that the influence of the wafer-level package on the RF performance can be made very small.\ud \u

Classifying hyperspectral airborne imagery for vegetation survey along coastlines

    Get PDF
This paper studies the potential of airborne hyperspectral imagery for classifying vegetation along the Belgian coastlines. Here, the aim is to build vegetation maps using automatic classification. Besides a general linear multiclass classifier (Linear Discriminant Analysis), several strategies for combining binary classifiers are proposed: one based on a hierarchical decision tree, one based on the Hamming distance between the codewords obtained by binary classifiers and one based on the coupling of posterior probabilities. In addition, a new procedure is proposed for spatial classification smoothing. This procedure takes into account spatial information by letting the decision for classification of a pixel depend on the classification probabilities of neighboring pixels. This is shown to render smoother classification images

Cardiac output estimation using pulse wave analysis-physiology, algorithms, and technologies:a narrative review

    Get PDF
Pulse wave analysis (PWA) allows estimation of cardiac output (CO) based on continuous analysis of the arterial blood pressure (AP) waveform. We describe the physiology of the AP waveform, basic principles of PWA algorithms for CO estimation, and PWA technologies available for clinical practice. The AP waveform is a complex physiological signal that is determined by interplay of left ventricular stroke volume, systemic vascular resistance, and vascular compliance. Numerous PWA algorithms are available to estimate CO, including Windkessel models, long time interval or multi-beat analysis, pulse power analysis, or the pressure recording analytical method. Invasive, minimally-invasive, and noninvasive PWA monitoring systems can be classified according to the method they use to calibrate estimated CO values in externally calibrated systems, internally calibrated systems, and uncalibrated systems

The atomic lensing model: new opportunities for atom-by-atom metrology of heterogeneous nanomaterials

The atomic lensing model has been proposed as a promising method facilitating atom-counting in heterogeneous nanocrystals [KHW van den Bos et. al, Phys. Rev. Lett. 116 (2016) 246101] Here, image simulations will validate the model, which describes dynamical diffraction as a superposition of individual atoms focussing the incident electrons. It will be demonstrated that the model is reliable in the annular dark field regime for crystals having columns containing dozens of atoms. By using the principles of statistical detection theory, it will be shown that this model gives new opportunities for detecting compositional differences
