On Infrared Universality in Massive Theories. Another Example
The infrared behaviour of the -theory is discussed stressing
analogies with the Witten-Seiberg story about . Though the
microscopic theory is apparently not integrable, the effective theory is shown
to be integrable at classical level, and a general solution of it in terms of
hypergeometric functions is obtained. An effective theory for the multiparticle
soft scattering is sketched.Comment: 9 pages, Latex, ps is available at

On asimuthal anisotropy in fragmentation of classical relativistic string
A fragmenting relativistic string is widely used for modelling particle
production via quark-gluon strings formed in hadron inelastic interactions of
high energies. In this note we focus on motion and fragmentation of
relativistic string with non-zero transverse separation of its ends and study
this scenario as a possible mechanism bringing anisotropy into the asimuthal
angle disribution of produced particles in inelastic interactions of hadrons.Comment: 12 pages, 6 figure
Strong coupling constant from decay within renormalization scheme invariant treatment
We extract a numerical value for the strong coupling constant \alpha_s from
the \tau-lepton decay rate into nonstrange particles. A new feature of our
procedure is the explicit use of renormalization scheme invariance in
analytical form in order to perform the actual analysis in a particular
renormalization scheme. For the reference coupling constant in the
\MSsch-scheme we obtain \alpha_s(M_\tau)= 0.3184 \pm 0.0060_{exp} which
corresponds to \al_s(M_Z)= 0.1184 \pm 0.0007_{exp} \pm 0.0006_{hq mass}. This
new numerical value is smaller than the standard value from -data quoted
in the literature and is closer to \al_s(M_Z)-values obtained from high energy
experiments.Comment: 8 page
Soft and virtual corrections to pp -> H + X at NNLO
The contributions of virtual corrections and soft gluon emission to the
inclusive Higgs production cross section pp -> H + X are computed at
next-to-next-to-leading order in the heavy top quark limit. We show that this
part of the total cross section is well behaved in the sense of perturbative
convergence, with the NNLO corrections amounting to an enhancement of the NLO
cross section by \sim 5% for LHC and 10-20% for the Tevatron. We compare our
results with an existing estimate of the full NNLO effects and argue that an
analytic evaluation of the hard scattering contributions is needed.Comment: 16 pages, 7 figures, 16 ps files embedded with epsf. Minor

Two-loop corrections to the Isgur-Wise function in QCD sum rules
We complete the QCD sum rule analysis of the Isgur Wise form factor
at next-to-leading order in renormalization-group improved
perturbation theory. To this end, the exact result for the two-loop corrections
to the perturbative contribution is derived using the heavy quark effective
theory. Several techniques for the evaluation of two-loop integrals involving
two different types of heavy quark propagators are discussed in detail, among
them the methods of integration by parts and differential equations. The
order- corrections to the Isgur-Wise function turn out to be small
and well under control. At large recoil, they tend to decrease the form factor
by .Comment: 24 pages (REVTEX), 2 figures available upon request, SLAC-PUB-599
Unitarity Constraints on the B and B^* Form Factors from QCD Analyticity and Heavy Meson Spin Symmetry
A method of deriving bounds on the weak meson form factors, based on
perturbative QCD, analyticity and unitarity, is generalized in order to fully
exploit heavy quark spin symmetry in the ground state doublet of
pseudoscalar and vector mesons. All the relevant form factors of
these mesons are taken into account in the unitarity sum. They are treated as
independent functions along the timelike axis, being related by spin symmetry
only near the zero recoil point. Heavy quark vacuum polarisation up to three
loops in perturbative QCD and the experimental cross sections are used as input. We obtain bounds on the charge radius
of the elastic form factor of the meson, which considerably improve
previous results derived in the same framework.Comment: 13 pages LaTex, 1 figure as a separate ps fil
Elliptic flow from color strings
It is shown that the elliptic flow can be successfully described in the color
string picture with fusion and percolation provided anisotropy of particle
emission from the fused string is taken into account. Two possible sources of
this anisotropy are considered, propagation of the string in the transverse
plane and quenching of produced particles in the strong color field of the
string. Calculations show that the second source gives an overwhelming
contribution to the flow at accessible energies.Comment: 23 pages, 11 figure
Heavy quark mass determination from the quarkonium ground state energy: a pole mass approach
The heavy quark pole mass in perturbation theory suffers from a renormalon
caused, inherent uncertainty of . This fundamental
difficulty of determining the pole mass to an accuracy better than the inherent
uncertainty can be overcome by direct resummation of the first infrared
renormalon. We show how a properly defined pole mass as well as the mass for the top and bottom quarks can be determined accurately from the
quarkonium ground state energy.Comment: 16 pages; published versio
Two-loop matching of the dipole operators for and
The order corrections to the Wilson coefficients of the dipole
operators () at the matching scale are a crucial ingredient
for a complete next- to-leading logarithmic calculation of the branching ratio
for . Given the phenomenological relevance and the fact that
this two-loop calculation has been done so far only by one group [1], we
present a detailed re-calculation using a different method. Our results are in
complete agreement with those in ref. [1].Comment: 24 pages, latex, 6 figures include
One-loop corrections to the metastable vacuum decay
We evaluate the one-loop prefactor in the false vacuum decay rate in a theory
of a self interacting scalar field in 3+1 dimensions. We use a numerical
method, established some time ago, which is based on a well-known theorem on
functional determinants. The proper handling of zero modes and of
renormalization is discussed. The numerical results in particular show that
quantum corrections become smaller away from the thin-wall case. In the
thin-wall limit the numerical results are found to join into those obtained by
a gradient expansion.Comment: 31 pages, 7 figure
