    Pitfalls Of Tele-ECG Consultation In A Rural Setup

    Rural hospitals in India are manned by MBBS doctors who are trained to provide primary care and to run and monitor the National Programs mainly.  These doctors are now witnessing increasing numbers of acute coronary syndrome (ACS) patients at primary level.  They are not competent enough to diagnose ACS on their own even by looking at ECG. In an Indian council of medical research funded project, we provided the rural doctors with Tele-ECG facility. During the course of this project, we came across some pitfalls of Tele-ECG in rural setup.  One such case was diagnosed with ST-elevated myocardial infarction, while it turned out to be a perforated duodenal ulcer. We have rerported the case and briefly discussed the expected pitfalls for Tele-ECG in a rural setup

    Studies on a Domestic Refrigerator Cabinet Temperature by Forced Convection Condensing Coil

    This paper tells about an experimental investigation carried out to improve the performance of a domestic refrigerator by replacing its natural convection condenser by a forced convection condenser. The forced convection is achieved by blowing air on the condenser coil at various velocities. The surface temperature of the condensing coil, ambient temperature and the cabinet air temperatures are noted and compared with those available with natural convection condenser at constant loads. In this study R-134a has been selected as the suitable replacement for R-12. The experimental values of governing temperatures and pressures at different air velocities and cooling loads were recorded. Effect on the cooling of cabinet air is discussed on varying air velocity and cooling load. Effect on power consumption has also been discussed on varying air velocity and cooling load. It was found that the cabinet air temperature of the refrigerator goes down in comparison with that when it is operating with the natural convection condenser. This helps in longer preservation of food products in the refrigerator

    Acute Pancreatitis (AP) is the inflammation of the pancreas, common causes being gall stones, alcohol, iatrogenic and trauma. Infections, mainly viral, are a rare cause of acute pancreatitis, mainly reported as case reports or series in the literature. Cholera caused by Vibrio Cholera, though rare these days, is characterized by vomiting and profuse watery diarrhea. We present an interesting case of Cholera complicated by mild pancreatitis with no other obvious cause following admission which was managed conservatively with full recovery.     Tracking collective emotions in sixteen countries during COVID-19: A novel methodology for identifying major emotional events using Twitter

    Using messages posted on Twitter, this research developed a new methodology for estimating collective emotions (CEs) within countries. It applied time-series analytic methodology to develop and demonstrate a novel application of CEs to identify emotional events that are significant at the societal level. The study analyzed over 200 million words from over 10 million Twitter messages posted in sixteen countries during the first 120 days of the COVID-19 pandemic. Daily levels of collective anxiety and positive emotions were estimated using Linguistic Inquiry and Word Count’s (LIWC) psychologically validated lexicon. The resulting time series estimates of both collective emotions were analyzed for structural breaks which mark abrupt changes in a series due to external shocks. External shocks to collective emotions come from events that are of shared emotional relevance and the analysis of structural breaks showed that a reduction in collective anxiety and increase in collective positive emotions in most countries followed WHO’s declaration of the COVID-19 situation as a global pandemic. Announcements of economic support packages and social restrictions also had similar impacts in countries. This indicated that reduction of uncertainties around the rapidly evolving COVID-19 situation during the first 120 days of the pandemic had a positive emotional impact on people in all the countries in the study. The study contributes to the field of CEs and applied research on collective psychological phenomena

    Curious case of corpus callosal hematoma in a normotensive post-partum female patient: a case report of reversible post-partum angiopathy with clinico-radiological correlation

    Postpartum cerebral angiopathy (PCA) is a rare cause of stroke in the puerperium. It usually presents with episodes of headache, seizures and neurological deficits in early post-partum period in normotensive females. CT, MRI and catheter angiography may demonstrate segmental vasoconstriction that often resolves spontaneously. PPA is generally regarded as a benign, non-relapsing and reversible disease process. We present a clinico-radiological correlative case of isolated corpus callosal hematoma in a post-partum normotensive female with evidence of intracranial vascular spasm and luminal irregularity on CT and catheter angiography. Follow up MR angiography showed resolution of the vasospasm and luminal irregularity. Patient was managed conservatively and showed resolution of the symptoms in follow up visit on 8th week.

    Blindness is the condition of lacking the visual sight due to physiological or neurological factors and partial blindness is due to lack of integration in the growth of the optic nerve or visual centre of the eye. In this proposed work, a simple, cheap, friendly user, virtual eye will be designed and implemented to improve the mobility of both blind and visually impaired people in a specific area. The proposed work includes a set of ultrasonic sensors for detection, raspberry-pi tool kit for programming and implementation,earphone for speech signal, hand stick(with sensors) using neural network. The main section of this project ultrasonic sensors which are used to scan a predetermined area around blind by emitting the waves.The rejected signals received from the barriers objects are used as inputs to raspberry-pi.Raspberry-pi carry out the issued commands and then communicate the status of a given appliances or device back to the earphone using raspberry-pi as speech. Also, this concept is cheap, fast and easy to use and an innovative a ordable solution to blind and visually impaired people

    Performance Evaluation of Reduced Rule Base Fuzzy Logic Controller for Indirect Vector Controlled Induction Motor Drive

    Abstract. This paper investigates the performance of a fuzzy logic speed controller with a reduced rule base for an indirect vector controlled induction motor drive. Generally in the control of complex systems where high performance is required, traditional controllers does not meet the required performance. In this paper a fuzzy logic controller is developed in such a way that it can provide high performance while using lesser rule. The drive is simulated successfully using Simulink/MATLAB. The performance of the drive has been examined under various rigorous working conditions. The Simulation results show that the proposed fuzzy logic controller (FLC) works satisfactorily making the drive more suitable for high performance applications

    VERU-111 suppresses tumor growth and metastatic phenotypes of cervical cancer cells through the activation of p53 signaling pathway

    In this study, we investigated the therapeutic efficacy of VERU-111 in vitro and in vivo model systems of cervical cancer. VERU-111 treatment inhibited cell proliferation and, clonogenic potential, induce accumulation of p53 and down regulated the expression of HPV E6/E7 expression in cervical cancer cells. In addition, VERU-111 treatment also decreased the expression of phosphorylation of Jak2 (TyR1007/1008) and STAT3 at Tyr705 and Ser727. VERU-111 treatment arrested cell cycle in the G2/M phase and modulated cell cycle regulatory proteins (cyclin B1, p21 p34cdc2 and pcdk1). Moreover, VERU-111 treatment induced apoptosis and modulated the expression of Bid, Bcl-xl, Survivin, Bax, Bcl2 and cleavage in PARP. In functional assays, VERU-111 markedly reduced the tumorigenic, migratory, and invasive potential of cervical cancer cells via modulations of MMPs. VERU-111 treatment also showed significant (P\u3c0.05) inhibition of orthotopic xenograft tumor growth in athymic nude mice. Taken together, our results demonstrate the potential anti-cancer efficacy of VERU-111 in in vitro and in vivo. VERU-111 can be explored as a potent therapeutic agent for the treatment of cervical cancer
