Highly Enantioselective Water-Compatible Organocatalyst for Michael Reaction of Ketones to Nitroolefins.
Organocatalytic enantioselective direct Aldol reaction in aqueous media catalyzed by a bifunctional diamine catalyst
Organocatalytic direct asymmetric anti-aldol reaction was developed in aqueous medium using a BINOL-derived diamine/protic acid bifunctional catalyst. The catalytic protocol could offer the opportunity to access anti-aldol products with high level of enantioselectivities with moderate diastereoselectivities
Highly enantioselective water-compatible organocatalyst for Michael reaction of ketones to nitroolefins
A chiral diamine was found to catalyze enantioselective addition of ketones to nitroolefins in aqueous/saline/organic media. The products were obtained with excellent diastereoselectivities (syn/anti = 99:1) and enantioselectivities up to 99%. The reaction could be facilitated using a mild acid
A bibliometric evaluation of organic research in India
Organic chemistry as a research area contributes to more than one percent of world publication output. The present paper attempts to draw a detailed, in-depth bibliometric analysis of organic chemistry research activity during the last decade (2004 to 2013) with special emphasis on the Indian contribution. The Indian output is compared with that of world’s leading countries using exergy, an indicator which combines quantity and quality of publications. A three-dimensional approach combining quantity, quality and consistency is used for analysing the performance of various institutions and authors. It is found that organic chemistry research activity in India during 2004-2013 is equal to the world average and its growth pattern is positive and similar to the worldwide research growth. India ranks at the 9th position based on the Exergy(X), the performance indicator while USA, Germany and China occupy first, second and third positions.Among others, the most productive organisations and authors are also identified using h-index and z-index. The paper identifies countries, international organisations and journals that cite the Indian contributions in the field
Highly efficient small organic molecules for enantioselective direct aldol reaction in organic and aqueous media
A series of highly efficient organocatalysts have been derived from naturally available amino acids for carrying out enantioselective direct aldol reaction in both organic and aqueous medium. The aldol products were obtained in high diastereoselectivities (up to 99:1) and enantioselectivities (up to >99% ee) for a broader range of substrates using 1 mol % of a catalyst. The results demonstrate that the structural features of organocatalysts play a crucial role in obtaining high optical purity of aldol adducts in an aqueous medium. Further, the role of water in increasing the rate and enantioselectivity of the reaction has been illustrated. Moreover, the aldol products have been employed in the synthesis of chiral amino alcohols which act as useful intermediates for building up complex natural products
STABILITY ANALYSIS OF TUNNEL RESTING OVER A SOFT GROUND
The tunnels are artificial underground passages generally used for transporting men and materials. One of the most important discussions in the field of tunneling is settlement and stability. In recent, numerical analysis has been found effective in identifying the performance of the tunnel system. This thesis represents the numerical modeling of tunnel in soft ground using MIDAS software. One of the major objectives of tunnel analysis is to figure out the stability of the given design. Apart from this, a comprehensive analysis of stresses induced in the shotcrete and rock bolt are also carried out. Ground characteristics values, ground initial stresses as well as support characteristics value are the input data’s for the study. After the excavation of the tunnel body, the installation of primary supports is performed and at last the stage of shotcrete hardening is analyzed. The initial stresses has a major influence on the tunnel behavior, since stability evaluation of tunnel is conducted by changing the Coefficient of lateral earth pressure. Lastly, behavior of tunnel due to the presence of structures near tunnel is also evaluated
