The paper proposes a method to determine of a coal seam roof falling step basing upon the analysis of stress and strain state of the rock mass area with mine workings formed as a result of coal preparatory and extraction operations. A boundary element method has been applied to define stress and strain state (SSS). Fissuring of enclosing rocks was modeled by means of transversal-isotropic medium. Dependence of destructed rocks zone height within the roof of a seam being mined upon the weakening of the rock mass due to its fissuring and mine working geometry has been determined. Effect of fissility on the periodical roof falling step has been studied. Changes in support loads in the process of stope advance have been determined. A scheme of partial backfilling of the worked out area has been proposed to maintain the support in its working order

The article is devoted to the problem of Diana Ackerman’s the creativity. She created a touching and extremely objective book ‘The Zookeeper’s Wife’ showing the people suffering from the humiliation of their human dignity. Diana Ackerman, with endless love and anxiety for her characters, describes what people close to her saw and experienced during World War II. Her novel, imbued with the intense deployment of tragic actions and deeds, does not leave indifferent neither literary scholars, nor readers. The purpose of the article is to analyze the transformation of the characters in Diana Ackerman's novel ‘The Zookeeper’s Wife’ in the context of the development of the theme of survival in ‘labor camps’, Jewish ‘ghetto’ during the occupation period in European countries. The results of the study are understanding that the novel created is not characterized by the typical image of the main character, but the sketches do not ignore the individual features in the character of the husband, son, friends, her surrounding people, reveal the national features of life. The plausibility of events in occupied Poland of historical significance is being recreated. The study concluded that the novel is the work of life-affirming, performed by a civil and patriotic pathos

Mine Field Preparation and Coal Mining in Western Donbas: Energy Security of Ukraine—A Case Study

Recent world trends have shown that a country’s political security depends on its fuel and energy supply. In Ukraine, these issues are managed by the United Energy System of Ukraine (USE). The USE consists of a set of power plants as well as electric and thermal networks operating in the general mode of production, transmission and distribution of electric and thermal energy. Nuclear power plants (NPPs), thermal power plants (TPPs), hydroelectric power plants (HPPs), thermal power plants (CHPs), as well as power plants run on alternative (renewable) sources of electricity (solar, wind, bio- and others). They are operating in one system. All of them are connected by the main electric networks. Thermal power plants (TPPs) produce nearly 27% of all electrical energy in Ukraine [1]. Recently, the amount of commercial coal required by Ukraine’s energy sector has increased from 19 to 21 million tons. In 2021, coal production had decreased by approximately 7.7% compared to 2020. Accordingly, this requires the import of coal [1]. Therefore, increasing the efficiency of coal mining is an urgent scientific and practical task.Ukrainian electricity production sector is in a critical situation. It is necessary to increase the coal production to ensure the continuity of electricity production. In this paper, an analysis of coal mining in western Donbas, Ukraine, was presented. The crucial thing is to increase coal production in this region. The new calculation schemes were proposed to increase coal extraction in Donbas mines. The coal pillar parameters, which are necessary for the effective control of the rock pressure caused by the stooping, were substantiated. The obtained parameters for the coal pillars will allow extracting more coal, safely and quickly dismantling the mechanized complex and effectively protecting the ongoing mine work. The case study helps determine the coal losses because of pillar leaving and to improve the stability of the main haulage roads located in the zone of the stooping effect as well as to achieve additional coal production in the mine. Such a technological solution allows to extract the coal more fully at the final parts of the extractive columns and to obtain an additional economic effect. The increase in coal production in coal mines of western Donbas will increase the energy security of all Ukraine

In accordance with the results of conducted research there were figured out the content, hierarchy, intensity of motives and their possibility to be implemented in servicemen with various levels of effectiveness of service activity. 8435 male servicemen participated in the research, they equally presented all the operational and territorial military unifications and units of the National Guard of Ukraine. Each unit proportionately presented officers as well as military personnel under contract who included the participants of hostilities and those who did not have such experience. Examination of various aspects of servicemen motivation was conducted with the help of the following the methods which were standardized being based on the Ukrainian  selection “Close Questionnaire of Examining the Motivation of Professional Choice Made by Applicants of the Ministry of Internal Affairs”, “Questionnaire of Estimation of the Effectiveness of Military Tasks’ Execution by Servicemen of the National Guard of Ukraine”, questionnaire on “Sense-Bearing and Life Orientations”, the methods of “Studying the Motivational Profile of Personality”, and “Locus of Control”. There was conducted the cluster analysis which gave the possibility to figure out six motivational types connected with the effectiveness of servicemen operational activity. Motivational types were located between the poles which were introduced by two dimensions: self-efficacy (autonomous and controlled motivation) and motivation of helping others (motivations of public service - selfishness). Those motivational types of servicemen were the following: motivated by public service, stagnant, prosocial, romantic, deficient, and dependent. Distinguished types included the content, hierarchy, intensity of motives and their possibility to be implemented.</p
