Among all non conventional micro machining, electrochemical discharge machining ECDM is having high quality of material removal rate with zero residual stress. This machining has been accepted as a highly modern technology in micromachining. In this paper an effort has been done on micro drilling of glass using electrochemical discharge machining ECDM . A fixed tool and a step down transformer have been used to support the steady machining to increase the accuracy of work piece. The input parameters used in this experiment are voltage, concentration of electrolyte, enter electrode gap and ratio of area of electrode. MRR has been investigated over the input parameters. Feed rate and electrolyte temperature has been made constant of 3µm sec and 30°c respectively. Taguchi method is used to optimize the effect of the process parameters on MRR. The signal to noise S N ratio and the ANOVA analysis are employed to find the contributions of input parameters. DWDM system and the need of this system is discussed along with the operation of each component. The increasing demands of bandwidth lead to the enhancement in DWDM. The components of DWDM system are individually discussed. Various advantages and disadvantages of DWDM technology are discussed. The maintenance of optical signal quality and the factors that is important while the design and operation of DWDM are seen. The advantages of DWDM make this technology ideal for communication and other applications

REVIEW ON MULTIPLEXING TECHNIQUES IN OPTICAL COMMUNICATION SYSTEMS

    Get PDF
In this paper, we present an overview of different multiplexing techniques. We focus on TDM, FDM, WDM, DWDM and CWDM. Basically multiplexing is an important part of communication system in which large number of users send data at the same time through a single link. Multiplexing is widely used in communication systems due to its potential to increase the channel utilization or transmission capacity and decrease system costs

Netarsudil: a novel intra-ocular pressure lowering agent

    Get PDF
Optic disc health is an important indicator of visual functions. The first line of management to prevent/halt the damage to optic disc is to control responsible pathological condition, if identified. In absence of identifiable cause, the most validated approach is lowering of intra-ocular pressure (IOP). Individually, as well as combinations of currently available drugs are not fully effective in all patients of glaucoma in achieving desired IOP control. Hence, there is a need of newer alternatives which address this unmet need. Recently, a newer IOP lowering agent with a novel mechanism of action, netarsudil, has been approved by United States Food and Drug Administration (US-FDA) in December 2017. Netarsudil acts by inhibiting Rho-associated protein kinase resulting in lowering of overall tone of the contractible cells in trabecular meshwork thereby improving drainage of aqueous humor outflow and lowering of IOP. Though in its early days, this drug gives an armamentarium to ophthalmologists and physicians to control IOP in patients of open-angle glaucoma and ocular hypertension

Challenges in implementing digital health services in rural India

Introduction: The COVID-19 pandemic, with mandatory social distancing and lockdown, has shown the success of telemedicine in reducing geographical and time obstacles. This has stimulated its ingress into mainstream healthcare services as the safest means of interaction between doctor and patient during the pandemic. There are several barriers that need to be addressed in order to spread these digital services. Aim: This study explores the challenges to adopting telemedicine and its status in remote districts of Himachal Pradesh, India. Methods: A mixed-method approach was used to identify challenges found in remote healthcare facilities. A survey was conducted using a 20-item checklist to capture information regarding infrastructure, telemedicine equipment, manpower and demography of the area. During telephone interviews, questionnaires were used to evaluate the status of acceptance of telemedicine and challenges to its implementation in the remote State of Himachal Pradesh, India. Results: The study identifies the challenges as lack of awareness (75.9%), level of education of patient (44.8%) having primary education, age of the patient (17.2%), technically challenged staff (30%), followed by resistance to change (80%) and high workload with manpower shortage (60%). Conclusion: While there are other barriers, this study provides policymakers with insights into the current perceived challenges to telemedicine implementation, which they can address to increase the penetration of telehealth services, particularly in rural areas.   &nbsp

Municipal Solid Waste Management in Debre Berhan City of Ethiopia

This paper presents an assessment of municipal solid waste generation and composition in Debre Berhan city in Ethiopia, providing an overview of the current state of municipal solid waste management, an analysis of the current problems in MSW collection, transportation, recycling and disposal, and few suggestions for improving the MSW in the coming years. Currently, waste composition in Debre Berhan is dominated by a high organic content, since the concentration of food and kitchen waste in urban solid waste makes up the highest proportion of the waste stream. The study revealed that only 25 % of the households have access to waste collection and transportation services as city municipality is under capacity to provide waste collection and transportation service.  98% of the respondents reported that recycling is not being practiced in the town. So, the potential of recycling and related activities is yet to be exploited. 75% of the urban dwellers dump the waste produce illegally and there exists no well designed dumping or landfill site, consequently urban dwellers are vulnerable to surface and groundwater pollution. Urgent and immediate improvement in building the capacities of the municipality is necessary to meet the current demand for improved municipal waste management and a number of recommendations are made aimed at improving the MSW management system. Ertugliflozin: a novel anti-diabetic drug

    Get PDF
Diabetes Mellitus is a disorder of global proportion. Despite various treatment modalities presently being available, yet the desired glycaemic control and patient outcomes have not been achieved completely. Sodium glucose co-transporter type 2 inhibitors (SGLT2 inhibitors) are one such promising group of emerging drugs in diabetes treatment. Ertugliflozin prevents the reabsorption of glucose by inhibiting sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 (SGLT2) at proximal convoluted tubules. Ertugliflozin is available as 5mg and 15mg tablets. Ertugliflozin has been related to genital mycotic infections and urinary tract infections. Benefits of Ertugliflozin include better control on blood glucose, body weight and blood pressure
