Analysis of High Rise Building with Dual Systems
The dangerous natural hazards earthquake is the one which, cause great damage of the building and livelihood as well. The ground motion and structure behavior itself are the characters on which response of the structure depends during earthquake. In medium to high rise structures situated in earthquake prone area coupled shear walls are one of the systems commonly used to resist lateral forces. ETAB stands for extended version three dimensional analysis of building. Commonly Skyscrapers, parking garages, steel and concrete structures, high rise structures, portal frame structures with coupled shear wall are modelled using ETAB software. The study in this paper mainly emphasizes on structural behaviour of multi-storey building of regular shape with combination of coupled shear wall and bracings. Lateral load analysis for the following type of structures such as regular model, mass reduction model and soft storey models with coupled shear wall is done. Different storey height such a s 30, 40 and 50 storey heights is considered. The above analysis is done using ETABS. Parameters such as axial force, shear force, bending moment and seismic response of regular model, soft storey model, mass reduction model, V bracing model and X bracing model for 30, 40 and 50 storey structures are studied. Axial force increase with increase in storey height. Soft storey and mass reduction models possess less axial force compared to regular model. Regular model is stiffer than other two models. V bracing model were effective in reducing the bending moment and axial forces in columns. Storey displacementswere within permissible limits
A study of Women Entrepreneurship in Saudi Arabia
Today women entrepreneurs are increasing in Saudi Arabia. In order to understand about women entrepreneurs in Saudi Arabia, a sample of 200 women entrepreneurs were selected from various business areas. The research instrument adopted here was questionnaire with closed ended questions. The main aim of this study was to understand the reasons to start a business, identify the benefits realized and various advertising channels used by these women entrepreneurs. Based on the responses, it was understood that the reasons to start a business was to be an independent person, to get recognition in the society, to build a successful organization, to have innovativeness and to continue the family traditions. The identified business benefits were in the area of Information Technology adoption, Literacy rates, Availability of internet facilities, Government policies, Purchase behavior and Technology adoption. The preferred advertising channels for business were Facebook, Twitter, Business Websites as well others like google, Instagram and LinkedIn
A Comparative Study between Samsung and Apple Smart Phones-Saudi Arabian Women Student’s Preference
Today smart phones are in increasing demand in the student community. In order to understand about the brand preference between Samsung and Apple, a group of 200 female students from various Universities in Riyadh were selected in the age group of 18-25 years. The research instruments used in Questionnaire were closed ended questions. The basis of analysis was on brand loyalty, USAge time, preferred features and brand preference. Based on the responses, it was understood that the brand preference between Apple and Samsung is equal
Variable structure control for an isolated boost converter used in fuel cell applications
In recent years fuel cells have become prominent as an alternative source of energy to meet the society’s energy requirements. A control strategy derived from variable structure theory known as Sliding Mode Control (SMC) was proposed for an Isolated Boost topology which was mostly used in fuel cell systems. Converter operation and its detailed mathematical modelling are also presented. Then the converter with the control strategy suggested is simulated in MATLAB/SIMULINK and compared with other controllers. The results show that transient response of the converter is very fast and steady state error is reduced throughout the load change period with proposed control topology
A comparative study on field performance of micropropagated plants and stem cutting derived plants of S-36 cultivar of Mulberry (Morus indica L.)
Micropropagated and stem cutting derived plants of Mulberry (Morus indica L. cv. S-36) were transferred to the similar field conditions. A comparative study was conducted based on morphological parameters and growth characteristics for three consecutive years. The results demonstrated that micropropagation gave rise to superior clonal populations with respect to number of branches/plant and leaf yield/plant that will be suitable for the mass production of plants. Thus in vitro grown plants did not exhibit any significant quantitative variation as compared to the conventionally grown plants, indicating the varietal multiplication to be of true-to-type
Volume Integral Theorem for Exotic Matter
We answer an important question in general relativity about the volume
integral theorem for exotic matter by suggesting an exact integral quantifier
for matter violating Averaged Null Energy Condition (ANEC). It is checked
against some well known static, spherically symmetric traversable wormhole
solutions of general relativity with a sign reversed kinetic term minimally
coupled scalar field. The improved quantifier is consistent with the principle
that traversable wormholes can be supported by arbitrarily small quantities of
exotic matter.Comment: 7 page
Spatiotemporal Distribution of Harmful Algal Flora in the Tropical Estuarine Complex of Goa, India
Mandovi and Zuari estuarine complex is monsoon-influenced estuaries located along the central west coast of India. During the past few years, there has been an increase in nutrient loading specially during monsoonal runoff which is responsible for the growth of harmful algal flora. To understand occurrence and distribution of harmful algal blooms species, daily/alternate day samplings were carried out in Mandovi and Zuari estuaries during 2007-2008 and 2008-2009 periods, respectively, comprising of monsoon (June–November) and nonmonsoon (December–May). In Mandovi, total 54 HAB species with 49 in monsoon and 36 during nonmonsoon period were reported. In Zuari, total 46 HAB species with 38 in monsoon and 41 were reported during nonmonsoon period. Bray-Curtis cluster analysis based on log-transformed phytoplankton density detected seven well-defined groups revealing spatiotemporal variability. The density of the dominant harmful algal species was significantly positively correlated with nutrients, but negatively correlated with salinity. The results of the study indicate that monsoon plays an important role in occurrence and distribution of harmful algal species having direct correlation with salinity variations and nutrient loading
Interaction of Oleate Molecules on Sillimanite and Garnet minerals.
Adsorption of oleate on sillimanite and garnet was studied using electrokinetic measurements. Both the systems exhibit a characteristic shift in iep by increasing the concentration of oleate in solution. This shift in iep has been quantified in terms of specific interaction between the surface sites and oleate molecules. The shift in iep was estimated separately for both the systems using the equation derived on the basis of electrical double layer theory. The specific free energy of adsorption was
estimated to be 7.94 kcal/mole for sillimanite-oleate system and 7.49 kcal/mole for gamet-oleate system
