A propósito de Gil Vicente

It was in 1834 that two Portuguese students in the University of Hamburg found one of the earliest editions of the masterpieces of Gil Vicente and decided to publish them in several volumes. In 1836 the liberal revolution took place in Portugal and Garrett wrote a proposal to renew the theatre in his homeland. That proposal was made law and that enabled all to believe that a new period was arriving. Thus, Garrett wrote a play called Um Auto de Gil Vicente, as an honour to Gil Vicente, considered as the basis of the Portuguese Theatre. That drama was performed several times and it was considered as the «model» for the new Portuguese Theatre. Our paper will analyse that text

The inverse relation between the size and the number of parts

This study analyses children’s understanding of the inverse relationship between size and number of parts when fractions and division situations are involved. A survey by questionnaire was conducted with 42 Portuguese fourth-graders trying to address two questions: 1) How do children understand the inverse relation between size and number of parts in partitive and quotitive division situations? And 2) How do children understand the inverse relation when fractions are involved in part-whole and quotient interpretations? E-Learning e desenvolvimento profissional de bibliotecários : entre o global e o local

Neste artigo apresentam-se os resultados de um estudo efetuado com os estudantes de um curso vocacionado para o desenvolvimento profissional de bibliotecários. O objetivo central consiste em analisar de que forma o modelo que foi desenvolvido, ao aliar uma vertente de reflexão teórica mais global, seguindo a modalidade de e-learning, e a aplicação local (em contexto de trabalho) de determinadas ferramentas de análise e de intervenção, corresponde às necessidades de formação destes profissionais. No estudo empírico seguiu-se uma metodologia de base qualitativa, através da aplicação de um questionário aos estudantes do curso de pós-graduação em Ciências da Informação e da Documentação. Os resultados obtidos revelam, entre outros aspectos, que o desenho do curso promove a criação de comunidades de aprendizagem, em que os níveis de interação e de partilha de ideias têm um peso significativo, proporcionando, segundo os inquiridos, experiências mais diversificadas e de melhor qualidade. Ressaltam ainda a importância de uma reflexão crítica, social e profissionalmente contextualizada, realizada no seio de comunidades de aprendizagem, permitindo a construção conjunta do conhecimento e aliando-se, desta forma, uma dimensão “global” com uma dimensão “local”

Pós-graduação em ciências da informação

Este poster apresenta a estrutura curricular do curso de Pós-graduação em Ciências da Informação, em oferta na Universidade Aberta de Portugal. Além de enumerar as UC que compõem o 1º e 2º semestres do 1º ano, dá-se especial ênfase ao 1º trimestre do 2º ano, periodo durante o qual os estudante desenvolvem a sua 'Prática Porfissional'. Os três meses dedicados à Prática Profissional destinam-se ao desenvolvimento de um projeto gizado pelo estudante, sob a orientação de um dos docentes do curso. Este trabalho tem lugar em contexto real, desejavelmente no local de trabalho do próprio estudante e o projeto incidirá numa temática de interesse para o estudante e para a instituição.N/

Continuous cultures of Clostridium acetobutylicum: culture stability and low-grade glycerol utilisation

Continuous cultures of two strains of Clostridium acetobutylicum were stable for over 70 d when grown on glucose/ glycerol mixtures. Butanol was the major fermentation end-product, accounting for 43 to 62% (w/w) of total products. Low-grade glycerol [65% (w/v) purity] could replace commercial glycerol [87% (w/v) purity], leading to a similar fermentation pattern: a butanol yield of 0.34 (mol/mol), a butanol productivity of 0.42 g l−1 h−1 and a 84% (w/w) glycerol consumptionwere attained when cultures were grown at pH 6 and D = 0.05 h−1; butanol accounted for 94% (w/w) of total solvents. These values are among the highest reported in literature for C. acetobutylicum simple chemostats
