    Study of the decays B->D_s1(2536)+ anti-D(*)

    Full text link
    We report a study of the decays B -> D_s1(2536)+ anti-D(*), where anti-D(*) is anti-D0, D- or D*-, using a sample of 657 x 10^6 B anti-B pairs collected at the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e- collider. The branching fractions of the decays B+ -> D_s1(2536)+ anti-D0, B0 -> D_s1(2536)+ D- and B0 -> D_s1(2536)+ D*- multiplied by that of D_s1(2536)+ -> (D*0K+ + D*+K0) are found to be (3.97+-0.85+-0.56) x 10^-4, (2.75+-0.62+-0.36) x 10^-4 and (5.01+-1.21+-0.70) x 10^-4, respectively.Comment: 6 pages, 2 figues, submitted to PRD (RC

    Measurement of forward-backward asymmetry and wilson coefficients in B -> K(*)l(+)l(-)

    Get PDF
    We report the first measurement of the forward-backward asymmetry and the ratios of Wilson coefficients A(9)/A(7) and A(10)/A(7) in B -> K(*)l(+)l(-), where l represents an electron or a muon. We find evidence for the forward-backward asymmetry with a significance of 3.4 sigma. The results are obtained from a data sample containing 386x10(6) (B) over bar pairs that were collected on the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e(+)e(-) collider

    Measurements of B decays to two kaons

    Get PDF
    We report measurements of B meson decays to two kaons using 253 fb(-1) of data collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB energy-asymmetric e(+)e(-) collider. We find evidence for signals in B+->(K) over bar K-0(+) and B-0-> K-0(K) over bar (0) with significances of 3.0 sigma and 3.5 sigma, respectively. (Charge-conjugate modes are included.) The corresponding branching fractions are measured to be B(B+->(K) over bar K-0(+))=(1.0 +/- 0.4 +/- 0.1)x10(-6) and B(B-0-> K-0(K) over bar (0))=(0.8 +/- 0.3 +/- 0.1)x10(-6). These decay modes are examples of hadronic b -> d transitions. No signal is observed in the decay B-0-> K+K-, and we set an upper limit of 3.7x10(-7) at 90% confidence level

    Measurement of polarization and triple-product correlations in B -> phi K-* decays

    Get PDF
    We present measurements of decay amplitudes and triple-product correlations in B ->phi K-* decays based on 253 fb(-1) of data recorded at the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB e(+)e(-) storage ring. The decay amplitudes for the three different helicity states are determined from the angular distributions of final-state particles. The longitudinal polarization amplitudes are found to be 0.45 +/- 0.05 +/- 0.02 for B-0->phi K-*0 and 0.52 +/- 0.08 +/- 0.03 for B+->phi K*+ decays. CP- and T-odd CP-violating triple-product asymmetries are measured to be consistent with zero

    Search for Lepton-number-violating B+->D-l+l'+ Decays

    Full text link
    We perform the first search for lepton-number-violating B+->D-l+l'+ decays, where l and l' stand for e or mu, using 772 x 10^6 BB-bar pairs accumulated at the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB e^+e^- collider. No evidence for these decays has been found. Assuming uniform three-body phase space distributions for the D-l+l+ decays, we set the following upper limits on the branching fractions at 90% confidence level: Br(B+ -> D-e+e+) < 2.6x10^-6, Br(B+ -> D-e+mu+) D-mu+mu+) < 1.0x10^-6.Comment: 7 pages, 2 figure

    Evidence for direct CP violation in B-0 -> K+pi(-) decays

    Get PDF
    We report evidence for direct CP violation in the decay B-0-->K(+)pi(-) with 253 fb(-1) of data collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB e(+)e(-) collider. Using 275x10(6) B(B) over bar pairs we observe a B-->K(+/-)pi(-/+) signal with 2140+/-53 events. The measured CP violating asymmetry is A(CP)(K(+)pi(-))=-0.101+/-0.025(stat)+/-0.005(syst), corresponding to a significance of 3.9sigma including systematics. We also search for CP violation in the decays B+-->K(+)pi(0) and B+-->pi(+)pi(0). The measured CP violating asymmetries are A(CP)(K(+)pi(0))=0.04+/-0.05(stat)+/-0.02(syst) and A(CP)(pi(+)pi(0))=-0.02+/-0.10(stat)+/-0.01(syst), corresponding to the intervals -0.05< A(CP)(K(+)pi(0))<0.13 and -0.18< A(CP)(pi(+)pi(0))<0.14 at 90% confidence level

    Observation of a chi '(c2) candidate in gamma gamma -> D(D)over-bar production at Belle

    Get PDF
    We report on a search for new resonant states in the process gamma gamma -> D (D) over bar. A candidate C-even charmonium state is observed in the vicinity of 3.93 GeV/c(2). The production rate and the angular distribution in the gamma gamma center-of-mass frame suggest that this state is the previously unobserved chi(')(c2), the 2(3)P(2) charmonium state

    Observation of a near-threshold omega J/psi mass enhancement in exclusive B -> K omega J/psi decays

    Get PDF
    We report the observation of a near-threshold enhancement in the omega J/psi invariant mass distribution for exclusive B -> K omega J/psi decays. The results are obtained from a 253 fb(-1) data sample that contains 275x10(6) B(B) over bar pairs that were collected near the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric energy e(+)e(-) collider. The statistical significance of the omega J/psi mass enhancement is estimated to be greater than 8 sigma

    Experimental constraints on the spin and parity of the Lambda(c)(2880)(+)

    Get PDF
    We report the results of several studies of the Lambda(+)(c)pi(+)pi X- final state in continuum e(+)e(-) annihilation data collected by the Belle detector. An analysis of angular distributions in Lambda(c)(2880)(+)->Sigma(c)(2455)(0,++)pi(+,-) decays strongly favors a Lambda(c)(2880)(+) spin assignment of 5/ over 3/2 or 1/2. We find evidence for Lambda(c)(2880)(+)->Sigma(c)(2520)(0,++)pi(+,-) decay and measure the ratio of Lambda(c)(2880)(+) partial widths Gamma(Sigma(c)(2520)pi)/Gamma(Sigma(c)(2455)pi)=0.225 +/- 0.062 +/- 0.025. This value favors the Lambda(c)(2880)(+) spin-parity assignment of 5/2(+) over 5/2(-). We also report the first observation of Lambda(c)(2940)(+)->Sigma(c)(2455)(0,++)pi(+,-) decay and measure Lambda(c)(2880)(+) and Lambda(c)(2940)(+) mass and width parameters. These studies are based on a 553 fb(-1) data sample collected at or near the Upsilon(4S) resonance at the KEKB collider
