A novel method of generating tunable underlying network topologies for social simulation

We propose a method of generating different scale-free networks, which has several input parameters in order to adjust the structure, so that they can serve as a basis for computer simulation of real-world phenomena. Weighted multiplex network of air transportation

In several real networks large heterogeneity of links is present either in intensity or in the nature of relationships. Therefore, recent studies in network science indicate that more detailed topological information are available if weighted or multi-layer aspect is applied. In the age of globalization air transportation is a representative example of huge complex infrastructure systems, which has been analyzed from different points of view. In this paper a novel approach is applied to study the airport network as a weighted multiplex taking into account the fact that the rules and fashion of domestic and international flights differ. Hand-to-hand combat in World War I as the Royal Hungarian defence forces' soldiers saw it

World War I. showed so much bloodshed that had never been seen before. On the contrary of the high effectiveness of firepower, combatants had to fight face-to-face many times. Frequently, they could not use their firearms efficiently for various reasons. In many situations, this led to hand-to-hand combat that resembled the struggling of long gone ages. In the era of our topic opinions on hand-to-hand combat were controversial. On one hand, Hand-to-hand combat was emphasized by the training methods of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy. On the other hand, armed forces of other countries did not find it so vital. In my opinion, the strife of the Royal Hungarian Defence Forces in World War I. has its own value nowadays as well. Firepower has been increasing and the other factors that forced soldiers to fight in close combat have not disappeared either

SENSITIVITY ANALYSIS OF LINEAR NETWORKS BY MODIFIED NODAL METHOD

The paper presents a new method of obtaining first order differential sensitivities of transfer functions of linear networks, related to any component parameter. The procedure does not necessitate adjoint network analysis or symbolic treatment of parameters, it only uses results of the preliminary network analysis. The calculation of the network is done using modified nodal analysis. Methods of determining sensitivity functions are discussed both for the time and for the frequency domain approaches. The interactivity of the LINA program implementing the procedure increases the efficiency of the network analysis

Multifractality beyond the Parabolic Approximation: Deviations from the Log-normal Distribution at Criticality in Quantum Hall Systems

Based on differences of generalized R\'enyi entropies nontrivial constraints on the shape of the distribution function of broadly distributed observables are derived introducing a new parameter in order to quantify the deviation from lognormality. As a test example the properties of the two--measure random Cantor set are calculated exactly and finally using the results of numerical simulations the distribution of the eigenvector components calculated in the critical region of the lowest Landau--band is analyzed.Comment: LaTeX 4 pages, 3 EPS included, to appear in Europhysics Letter

A helyi pénz bevezetésének főbb tapasztalatai Magyarországon

Napjainkban a helyi érdekek felértékelődésével a helyi pénzek jelentősége egyre inkább növekszik. Ezek jogilag utalványnak számító készpénz-helyettesítő fizetőeszközök, rövidebben fogalmazva: forgatható utalványok. A kibocsátók célja jellemzően a helyi pénzforgalom felgyorsítása, a tőke helyben tartása, a helyi termékek fogyasztásának elősegítése (kibocsátók: általában helyi önkormányzatok, civil szervezetek). A helyi önkormányzatok szerepe nagyon fontos a település és a régió fejlődésében, valamint a helyi pénz sikerében is. Másrészről az is igaz, hogy a helyi pénz témája megosztó. Vajon meg lehet–e oldani a gazdasági problémákat a mainstream közgazdaságtanon kívül? Hogyan tudják a helyi pénz adta lehetőségeket kihasználni, mely tényezőket kell figyelembe venni a működtetés során és milyen előnyökkel és hátrányokkal jár a régió szempontjából? Összehasonlítva a különböző alternatív és helyi pénzrendszereket, a szerzők keresik a választ arra, hogy miként lehet sikeres egy helyi pénz, miként lehetne megőrizni a már létrehozott helyi pénzeket
