CONHECIMENTOS, ATITUDES E PRÁTICAS DE CUIDADORES INFANTIS SOBRE SAÚDE BUCAL: UMA REVISÃO INTEGRATIVA / KNOWLEDGE, ATTITUDES AND PRACTICES OF CHILDREN'S CAREGIVERS OF ORAL HEALTH: AN INTEGRATIVE REVIEW

Introdução: Os pais e cuidadores infantis desempenham um importante papel no ensino das práticas de saúde bucal das crianças.Objetivo: Realizar uma revisão integrativa acerca dos conhecimentos, atitudes e práticas sobre saúde bucal entre os cuidadoresinfantis. Métodos: A busca na literatura foi realizada através das bases de dados Bireme e Medline, utilizando os termos:“Child”, “Oral Health”, “Health Education”, “Health”, “Caregivers”, “Health Knowledge”, “Attitudes” e “Practice, Dental General”.Pesquisas qualitativas, estudos e séries de casos, revisões de literatura descritiva foram excluídos. Artigos publicados há maisde 10 anos foram excluídos da amostra. Resultados: A busca resultou em 44 artigos, onde destes 36 foram excluídos e 8 selecionados.Conclusão: Diante dos achados encontrados neste estudo, conclui-se que fatores como renda familiar, nível educacional,número de filhos e valores culturais podem influenciar nos conhecimentos, atitudes e práticas sobre saúde bucal de cuidadoresinfantis. Estratégias voltadas para educação continuada dos cuidadores devem ser incentivadas.Palavras-chave: Criança. Saúde Bucal. Clinical evaluation of buccal mucosal lesions in hospitalized children from 3 to 12 years-old

Objective: To determine the presence of oral mucosa alterations in children from 3 to 12 year of age, hospitalized in the period from January to May 2004. Methods: A clinical evaluation was made of the oral mucosa alterations in 165 hospitalized children from 3 to 12 of age, in the period from January to May 2004, of both genders, interned in the three wings of the mother and child ospital “Hospital Universitário Materno Infantil” of the Federal University of Maranhão.Results: The most frequent alterations were encrusted tongue (61.82%), pseudomembranous candidiasis (5.45%) and recurrent herpeticinfection (3.64%), no difference being found with regard to their presence in the age groups (3 to 6 years of age and 7 to 12 years ofage), however, boys were more affected (85.90%) than girls (71.26%).Conclusion: Of the 165 children examined, 78.18% exhibited alterations and in certain cases, more than one alteration was observed at the time of the exam

Condições Bucais Relacionadas com o Estresse: uma revisão dos achados atuais

O desequilíbrio da harmonia entre o corpo e a mente é o que origina o desenvolvimento de doenças relacionadas ao estresse. Muitas patologias, hoje estudadas, têm íntima relação com o estresse e estabelecer a relação estresse/doença é fundamental para conhecer e tratar algumas dessas patologias. Considerando-se a importância do tema para os alunos e profissionais da Odontologia, justifica-se a realização do referido trabalho, com vista ao melhor entendimento a cerca do tema abordado e ao aprimoramento do diagnóstico das mesmas. Podemos sugerir que os aspectos psico-sociais, em especial o estresse, têm sua participação na etiologia de algumas condições na cavidade bucal, atuando de forma conjunta com outros fatores, entretanto o papel do estresse nessas condições estudadas não está perfeitamente esclarecido. É necessário enfatizar que estas condições devem merecer atenção especial do cirurgião-dentista, que por sua vez, faz parte de uma equipe multidisciplinar no atendimento do paciente, sendo necessário o encaminhamento do paciente portador de uma dessas condições associadas ao estresse a profissionais especializados para uma terapia adjunta, podendo melhorar sobremaneira, o resultado do tratamento odontológico
