    The perception of the autonomy supportive behaviour as a predictor of perceived effort and physical self-esteem among school students from four nations

    Grounded in self-determination theory (SDT), this study tested a model of motivational sequence in which perceived autonomy support from teachers in a physical education (PE) context predicted the perceived effort and physical self-esteem via self-determined motivation in school students. School students aged 12 to 16 years from Estonia (N = 816), Lithuania (N = 706), Hungary (N = 664), and Spain (N = 922) completed measures of perceived autonomy support from PE teachers, need satisfaction for autonomy, competence, relatedness, self-determined motivation, perceived effort and physical self-esteem. The results of the structural equation model (SEM) of each sample indicated that the students’ perceived autonomy support from the teacher was directly related to effort and indirectly via autonomous motivation, whereas physical self-esteem was related indirectly. Confirmatory factor analyses and multi-sample structural equation revealed well-fitting models within each sample with the invariances of the measurement parameters across four nations.     The Intention to Use Fitness and Physical Activity Apps: A Systematic Review

    Recently the development of new technologies has produced an increase in the number of studies that try to evaluate consumer behavior towards the use of sports applications. The aim of this study is to perform a systematic review of the literature on the intention to use mobile applications (Apps) related to fitness and physical activity by consumers. This systematic review is a critical evaluation of the evidence from quantitative studies in the field of assessment of consumer behavior towards sport applications. A total of 13 studies are analyzed that propose models for evaluating the intentions to use fitness applications by sport consumers. The results revealed several key conclusions: (a) Technology Acceptance Model is the most widely used model; (b) the relationship between perceived utility and future intentions is the most analyzed; and (c) the most evaluated applications are diet/fitness. These findings could help technology managers to know the most important key elements to take into account in the development of future applications in sport organizations

    Effects of invasion games on physical fitness in primary school children

    Studies concerning the effects of different invasion games on physical fitness in school children are scarce. Consequently, the purpose of this study was to examine the effects of the application of invasion games on physical fitness in primary school children. A total of 62 primary school children aged 10-12 years voluntarily participated in this study. They were divided into experimental (32) and control (30) group. Physical fitness of children was estimated by the following tests: Standing broad jump, Vertical jump, Bent-arm hang, Sit-ups, Pushups, Medicine ball test and Andersen test. The experimental group had twice per week invasion games on non-consecutive days for 12 weeks. Participants in control group did not perform specific program but attended their regular PE class twice per week. Compared with initial measurement, there was a significant (p 0.05). To conclude, invasion games were an effective way of improving physical fitness in primary school children, because the results of this study indicate that this method was more effective for physical fitness than traditional school program

    La influencia del género y de la formación académica en la intención de emprender de los estudiantes de ciencias de la actividad física y el deporte

    Objeto: El objetivo del presente artículo es conocer si existen diferencias en las variables que explican la intención de emprender de los estudiantes universitarios de Ciencias de la Actividad Física y el Deporte atendiendo a la formación y al género de éstos. Diseño/metodología: Para conocer las intenciones de emprender y las distintas variables relacionadas con el emprendimiento se utilizó un cuestionario previamente validado. Éste fue administrado a 578 estudiantes pre-graduados (1er - 4º curso) y post-graduados de Ciencias de la Actividad Física y el Deporte de Valencia. Aportaciones y resultados: Se encontraron diferencias significativas (p≤0.05) en las variables que predicen la intención de emprender según género y formación de los estudiantes. En ambos géneros la actitud y el control percibido resultaron ser las variables predictoras de la intención de emprender, y en los hombres también la norma subjetiva. Limitaciones: La muestra de estudiantes sólo pertenece a la titulación de Ciencias de la Actividad Física y el Deporte de Valencia, por lo que los resultados no son extrapolables a toda la población de estudiantes. Implicaciones prácticas: Para favorecer el espíritu emprendedor y de esta manera formar graduados más preparados para su inserción en el mundo laboral se deben crear programas que fomenten la actitud hacia la conducta del emprendimiento y el control del comportamiento percibido. Implicaciones sociales: Aumentar el número de emprendedores en el sector deportivo, reduciendo la brecha de género, así como mejorar la calidad del emprendimiento, ya que éste es un aspecto clave debido al impacto positivo que este fenómeno genera sobre la economía. Valor añadido: Conocer si existen diferencias en función de la formación y el género debido a la masiva incorporación de la mujer al mundo laboral deportivo y su baja intención de emprender, con el objetivo de formar tanto a graduados como graduadas con habilidades emprendedoras.Purpose: The objective of this article is to know if there are differences in the variables that explain the entrepreneurial intention of the Physical Activity and Sport Science students addressing academic training and gender of them. Design/methodology/approach: To know entrepreneurial intentions and the different variables related to entrepreneurship, a questionnaire previously validated was used. The questionnaire was provided to 578 students pre-graduated (1st-4th course) and post-graduate of Physical Activity and Sport Science degree of Valencia. Findings: Statistically significant differences (p ≤ 0.05) in the variables that predict entrepreneurial intention of Physical Activity and Sport Science students by gender and training were found. In both genders, the attitude towards entrepreneurship and the perceived behavior control were the predictors of entrepreneurial intentions and in men also the subjective norms. Research limitations/implications: The students sample belongs only to the Physical Activity and Sport Science degree of Valencia, so the results cannot be extrapolated to the entire population. Practical implications: It should be developing the attitude toward the behavior of entrepreneurship and perceived behavioral control to promote entrepreneurship. In this way, the graduates will be more prepare for insertion into the working world. Social implications: To increase the number of entrepreneurs (male and female) in the sports sector throughout the education, reducing the gender gap in entrepreneurship and improve the quality of entrepreneurship, as this is a key issue because of the positive impact that this phenomenon generates on the economy Originality/value: It is interesting to know the predictor variables of entrepreneurial intentions, and to know if there are differences based on education and gender due to the massive entry of women into the sport workplaces and low intention to undertake of the.     This research analyzes the relationship between brand perception of users of a sports service and their levels of loyalty. Data were treated with both SPSS 23 and EQS 6.3, using CFA to confirm reliability and validity and creating a model to be tested. Congruence explain 43% of credibility and that these two variables explain up to 73% of trust. Credibility and trust can explain up to 73% of the attitudes, while attitudes would explain up to 50% of loyalty. In the case of sports services, brand perception and its relationship with loyalty remain largely unaddressed. For this reason, it is interesting to carry out research on this subject, bringing new evidence to business reality to help managers to understand how to get loyal users and provide a better service, which is good for the sustainability of the service and to better fulfil the social function carried out by sport services

    How to foster intrapreneurial intentions of sport science students? A cross-cultural symmetric and asymmetric approach

    Intrapreneurs are needed in the sport sector due to its competitive nature. However, little attention has been paid to this topic within sport entrepreneurship literature. This paper aims to examine the cross-cultural applicability of Ajzen’s theory of planned behavior for predicting the intrapreneurial intentions (II) of sport science students from two European countries and to discover if there is a moderating effect of country’s culture on the antecedents of II. A questionnaire to collect the data was used. The sample is composed by 736 final year sports sciences students from Spain and Lithuania. The combination of a symmetric (Structural Equations Modelling) and asymmetric (Qualitative Comparative Analysis) approach was used to examine the students’ country culture as a potential moderator. Results indicate Ajzens’s theory of planned behavior as a suitable framework to predict intrapreneurial intentions (II). Moreover, it is highlighted that the country’s culture can have a moderating effect on the university students’ II. Educational policy makers should consider the impact of county culture when promoting intrapreneurial behavior. In Spain, it should be developed a positive attitude towards intrapreneurial behavior, while in Lithuania it is more important to foster that they perceive as having the necessary skills to be an intrapreneur

    Emotions, skills and intra-entrepreneurship: mapping the field and future research opportunities

    Employability, and especially entrepreneurship and intrapreneurship, is a topic attracting the interest of researchers in recent years. Although knowledge about creating and managing a company is essential (hard skills), the importance of other competencies such as soft skills and emotional intelligence has also been highlighted in recent years. This study analyzes documents related to Emotional Intelligence, Soft Skills, Hard Skills and their relationship with (intra)entrepreneurship. The methodology used was bibliometric analysis, followed by a bibliographic coupling and identification of thematic areas within this field of study. A total of 121 documents were analyzed, following the PRISMA protocol. The results showed an upward trend over the last five years in the production of works in this field, accounting for approximately 75% of the total number of articles found. Seven different sub-themes were identified. The theme with the most significant impact, which generates the most interest among the scientific community, encompasses personal relationships, emotional intelligence, and the positive work climate for a company's growth. Finally, a series of implications and future lines of study are proposed to help develop and consolidate this research field
