First observation of γ rays emitted from excited states south-east of Sn 132: The π g9/2-1 âš - νf7/2 multiplet of In83 132

For the first time, the γ decay of excited states has been observed in a nucleus situated in the quadrant south-east of doubly magic Sn132, a region in which experimental information so far is limited to ground-state properties. Six γ rays with energies of 50, 86, 103, 227, 357, and 602 keV were observed following the β-delayed neutron emission from Cd85133, populated in the projectile fission of a U238 beam at the Radioactive Isotope Beam Factory at RIKEN within the EURICA project. The new experimental information is compared to the results of a modern realistic shell-model calculation, the first one in this region very far from stability, focusing in particular on the π0g9/2-1 - ν1f7/2 particle-hole multiplet in In83132. In addition, theoretical estimates based on a scaling of the two-body matrix elements for the πh11/2-1 - νg9/2 analog multiplet in Tl127208, one major proton and one major neutron shell above, are presented. © 2016 American Physical Society

Observation of Anomalous Internal Pair Creation in 8^8Be: A Possible Signature of a Light, Neutral Boson

Electron-positron angular correlations were measured for the isovector magnetic dipole 17.6 MeV state (Jπ=1+J^\pi=1^+, T=1T=1) \rightarrow ground state (Jπ=0+J^\pi=0^+, T=0T=0) and the isoscalar magnetic dipole 18.15 MeV (Jπ=1+J^\pi=1^+, T=0T=0) state \rightarrow ground state transitions in 8^{8}Be. Significant deviation from the internal pair creation was observed at large angles in the angular correlation for the isoscalar transition with a confidence level of >5σ> 5\sigma. This observation might indicate that, in an intermediate step, a neutral isoscalar particle with a mass of 16.70±0.35\pm0.35 (stat)±0.5\pm 0.5 (sys) MeV/c2/c^2 and Jπ=1+J^\pi = 1^+ was created.Comment: 5 pages, 5 figure

A gyógyszer indukálta vérzékeny betegek fogorvosi, szájsebészeti ellátása: a 2015-ös hazai szakmai ajánlás alkalmazása és értékelése

Absztrakt Bevezetés: A Magyar Arc-, Állcsont- és Szájsebészeti Társaság és a Magyar Fogorvosok Implantológiai Társasága által 2015-ben elfogadásra került „A gyógyszer indukálta vérzékeny betegek fogorvosi ellátása” szakmai ajánlás. Célkitűzés: A szerzők célja volt az ajánlásban leírt lokális vérzéscsillapítási módszerek hatékonyságának, megbízhatóságának ellenőrzése. Módszer: Az orális antithromboticus kezelésben részesülő betegeiknél vizsgálták a fogorvosi, szájsebészeti ellátásukat követő utóvérzések előfordulását, retrospektív módon. Eredmények: 263, vérzéssel járó beavatkozás történt (186 betegnél), amelyből 138 K-vitamin-antagonista, 97 thrombocytaaggregáció-gátló és 6, úgynevezett új típusú orális antikoaguláns kezelésben részesülő betegeknél. Összesen 6 (2,3%) esetben tapasztaltak utóvérzést az egyórás kontrollnál, míg ügyeletbe 1 beteg jött vissza utóvérzés miatt (0,5%). Ezzel szemben 86-an jelentkeztek ügyeletükön, akiknél az ajánlást nem vették figyelembe, közülük K-vitamin-antagonista gyógyszert szedett 3 beteg, alacsony molekulasúlyú heparinkezelésben részesült 24 beteg, thrombocytaaggregáció-gátló szert szedett 30 beteg és új típusú orális antikoaguláns kezelésben részesült 1 beteg. Következtetések: A hazai szakmai ajánlás az ambuláns gyakorlatban biztonságosan alkalmazható az antithromboticus terápiában részesülő páciensek vérzéssel járó fogorvosi/szájsebészeti beavatkozásakor, habár a körzetes fogorvos ellátók sok esetben nincsenek ilyen jellegű ellátásra felkészülve. Aim: The aim of the authors was to evaluate the efficiency and safety of local hemostatic measures recommended by the guideline in anticoagulated patients. Method: In these patients, postoperative bleeding episodes were examined after dental and oral surgical treatments, retrospectively. Results: Overall 263 bleeding risk cases were treated; 138 patients with vitamin K antagonists, 97 patients with antiplatelet therapy and 6 patients with novel oral anticoagulants. Six patients (2.3%) had minor postoperative bleeding after the “one hour control”, while one patient needed a night duty support (0.5%). In contrast, 86 patients who were treated in rural practices neglecting the guideline attended the night duty with postoperative bleeding (3 patients treated with vitamin K antagonists, 24 patients taking low molecular weight heparin, 30 patients receiving antiplatelet therapy and one patient on novel oral anticoagulant therapy. Conclusions: The Hungarian guideline can be applied safely, without increasing the risk of postoperative bleeding, however, rural dental practices are frequently unprepared for these treatments. μ s isomers of Nd 158,160

The neutron-rich nuclei Nd158,160 have been studied via delayed γ-ray spectroscopy of μs isomeric states at the RIBF facility, RIKEN. These nuclei were produced following the projectile fission of a 345 AMeVU238 beam and delayed γ rays were detected by the EURICA cluster Ge array. The isomeric states have measured half-lives of 339(20) ns and 1.63(21) μs for Nd158 and Nd160, respectively. From the observed γ decays and the systematics of levels in the neighboring Nd isotopes first level schemes were constructed for these nuclei. The isomeric states of Nd158,160 have been assigned spins of (6-) and (4-), with proposed ν5/2[523] - ν7/2[633] and ν1/2[521] - ν7/2[633] configurations, respectively. © 2016 American Physical Society

Shell Evolution towards Ni 78: Low-Lying States in Cu 77

The level structure of the neutron-rich Cu77 nucleus is investigated through β-delayed γ-ray spectroscopy at the Radioactive Isotope Beam Factory of the RIKEN Nishina Center. Ions of Ni77 are produced by in-flight fission, separated and identified in the BigRIPS fragment separator, and implanted in the WAS3ABi silicon detector array, surrounded by Ge cluster detectors of the EURICA array. A large number of excited states in Cu77 are identified for the first time by correlating γ rays with the β decay of Ni77, and a level scheme is constructed by utilizing their coincidence relationships. The good agreement between large-scale Monte Carlo shell model calculations and experimental results allows for the evaluation of the single-particle structure near Ni78 and suggests a single-particle nature for both the 5/21- and 3/21- states in Cu77, leading to doubly magic Ni78. © 2017 American Physical Society
