Gauge and Poincare' Invariant Regularization and Hopf Symmetries
We consider the regularization of a gauge quantum field theory following a
modification of the Polchinski proof based on the introduction of a cutoff
function. We work with a Poincare' invariant deformation of the ordinary
point-wise product of fields introduced by Ardalan, Arfaei, Ghasemkhani and
Sadooghi, and show that it yields, through a limiting procedure of the cutoff
functions, to a regularized theory, preserving all symmetries at every stage.
The new gauge symmetry yields a new Hopf algebra with deformed co-structures,

Noncommutative spacetime symmetries: Twist versus covariance
We prove that the Moyal product is covariant under linear affine spacetime
transformations. From the covariance law, by introducing an -space
where the spacetime coordinates and the noncommutativity matrix components are
on the same footing, we obtain a noncommutative representation of the affine
algebra, its generators being differential operators in -space. As
a particular case, the Weyl Lie algebra is studied and known results for Weyl
invariant noncommutative field theories are rederived in a nutshell. We also
show that this covariance cannot be extended to spacetime transformations
generated by differential operators whose coefficients are polynomials of order
larger than one. We compare our approach with the twist-deformed enveloping

Trends of influenza B during the 2010–2016 seasons in 2 regions of north and south Italy: The impact of the vaccine mismatch on influenza immunisation strategy
Influenza A and B viruses are responsible for respiratory infections, representing globally seasonal threats to human health. The 2 viral types often co-circulate and influenza B plays an important role in the spread of infection. A 6-year retrospective surveillance study was conducted between 2010 and 2016 in 2 large administrative regions of Italy, located in the north (Liguria) and in the south (Sicily) of the country, to describe the burden and epidemiology of both B/Victoria and B/Yamagata lineages in different healthcare settings. Influenza B viruses were detected in 5 of 6 seasonal outbreaks, exceeding influenza A during the season 2012–2013. Most of influenza B infections were found in children aged ≤ 14 y and significant differences were observed in the age-groups infected by the different lineages. B/Victoria strains prevailed in younger population than B/Yamagata, but also were more frequently found in the community setting. Conversely, B/Yamagata viruses were prevalent among hospitalized cases suggesting their potential role in the development of more severe disease. The relative proportions of viral lineages varied from year to year, resulting in different lineage-level mismatch for the B component of trivalent influenza vaccine. Our findings confirmed the need for continuous virological surveillance of seasonal epidemics and bring attention to the adoption of universal influenza immunization program in the childhood. The use of tetravalent vaccine formulations may be useful to improve the prevention and control of the influenza burden in general population
Bronchoalveolar lavage fluid cytological findings in healthy Amiata donkeys
Background: The approach to respiratory diseases in donkeys is similar to that for horses; nevertheless, Bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) and tracheal wash cytology in this species have been described only a few times in the literature. Aim: To describe BALF cytological findings in a cohort of 24 healthy Amiata donkeys. Methods: Bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) was carried out via standing sedation with a large animal where the BAL catheter passed blindly through the nasal passage into the trachea. Results: The total nucleated cell count of the BALF was found similar to that already described in healthy horses and donkeys. No differences in the differential count were observed according to age and sex. A decreased macrophage percentage and an increased eosinophil percentage were observed in our donkey population when compared to the existing reference range for horses. Conclusion: The reference intervals for BAL cytology in donkeys may be significantly different for those referred for horses
Correlation Clustering with Adaptive Similarity Queries
In correlation clustering, we are givennobjects together with a binary similarityscore between each pair of them. The goal is to partition the objects into clustersso to minimise the disagreements with the scores. In this work we investigatecorrelation clustering as an active learning problem: each similarity score can belearned by making a query, and the goal is to minimise both the disagreementsand the total number of queries. On the one hand, we describe simple activelearning algorithms, which provably achieve an almost optimal trade-off whilegiving cluster recovery guarantees, and we test them on different datasets. On theother hand, we prove information-theoretical bounds on the number of queriesnecessary to guarantee a prescribed disagreement bound. These results give a richcharacterization of the trade-off between queries and clustering error
Evaluation of the burden of HPV-related hospitalizations as a useful tool to increase awareness: 2007–2017 data from the sicilian hospital discharge records
In light of the implementation of human papillomavirus (HPV) prevention strategies, epidemiological studies in different geographical areas are required in order to assess the impact of HPV-related diseases. The purpose of the present study was to describe the burden of HPV-related hospitalizations in Sicily. A retrospective observational study estimated 43,531 hospitalizations attributable to HPV from 2007 to 2017. During the observed period, there was a decrease for all HPV-related conditions with a higher reduction, among neoplasms, for cervical cancer (annual percent change (APC) = −9.9%, p < 0.001). The median age for cervical cancer was 45 years old, with an increasing value from 43 to 47 years (p < 0.001). The age classes with greater decreases in hospital admissions for invasive cancers were women aged 35 years or more (APC range from −5.5 to −9.86) and 25–34 years old (APC = −11.87, p < 0.001) for women with cervical carcinoma in situ. After ten years for vaccine introduction and sixteen years for cervical cancer screening availability, a relatively large decrease in hospital admissions for cervical cancer and other HPV-related diseases in Sicily was observed. Some clinical characteristics of hospitalization, such as increasing age, are suggestive clues for the impact of preventive strategies, but further research is needed to confirm this relationship
A linear time-varying approach for robustness analyses of a re-entry flight technology demonstrator
A novel robustness analysis technique is proposed for atmospheric re-entry applications. The problem is stated as a finite time stability (FTS) analysis of linear time-varying (LTV) systems on a compact time domain, subject to bounded variations in initial state and unknown parameters. The FTS property is formulated as the inclusion of all the possible system trajectories into a pre-specified time-varying subset of the state space. Based on assuming the involved sets are polytopes, the proposed approach allows deducing the system FTS from the property verification on a limited number of numerically computed system trajectories. An additional result is presented which allows determination of a conservative estimate of the maximum norm-bound of time-varying perturbations under which the LTV system remains finite time stable. Results of the application of the proposed technique to a re-entry technology demonstrator are presented which demonstrate its effectiveness in complementing conventional linear time invariant-based analyses. Results also show that it is computationally viable and allows linking the system robustness to a quantitative analysis of the system trajectory dispersion around the nominal one due to concurrent initial state dispersion and uncertain parameters effects, which aids in evaluating mission objectives fulfillment
Prion protein gene frequencies in three Sicilian dairy sheep populations
The objective of this paper was to investigate the prion protein (PrP) genotype and haplotype frequencies in three Sicilian dairy sheep populations. The three populations were: (1) 1096 Valle del Belice animals, (2) 1143 Comisana animals, and (3) 1771 individuals from 5 flocks with scrapie outbreaks, in which the animals were crossbreds derived from indigenous Sicilian dairy breeds. PrP genotypes are described for the three codons 136 (Alanine or Valine; A, V), 154 (Histidine or Arginine; H, R), and 171 (Glutamine, Arginine or Histidine; Q, R, H) which represent polymorphisms known to be linked with scrapie susceptibility. The Valle del Belice haplotype frequencies were 32.3% ARR, 6.5% AHQ, 1.0% ARH, 58.8% ARQ, and 1.4% VRQ. The Comisana frequencies were 39.4% ARR, 2.9% AHQ, 2.9% ARH, 50.9% ARQ, and 3.9% VRQ. In the flocks with scrapie outbreaks the frequencies were 32.8% ARR, 2.4% AHQ, 1.7% ARH, 59.1% ARQ, and 3.9% VRQ. In all three populations ARQ and ARR were the most frequent haplotypes. Multiple generations of strong selection will be needed to fixate the most resistant ARR haplotype
