Specific heat study of the Na(0.3)CoO(2).1.3H(2)O superconductor: influence of the complex chemistry
We report results of specific heat measurements on polycrystalline samples of
the layered superconductor, Na(0.3)CoO(2).1.3H(2)O. The electronic contribution
to the specific heat, gamma, is found to be 12.2 mJ/mol-K2. The feature at the
superconducting transition is rather sharp, becoming broad and strongly
suppressed in an applied magnetic field. The data indicate a residual normal
state electronic specific heat at low temperatures, implying that there is a
sizable population of normal state electrons in the samples even below Tc.
Inhomogeneity in the Na content, to which the superconducting state is
exquisitely sensitive, appears to be the most likely explanation for these
results. These results further indicate that special sample handling is
required for an accurate characterization of the superconducting state in this

Cricket Flour-Laden Millet Flour Blends' Physical and Chemical Composition and Adaptation in Dried Pasta Products
Increasing the protein and antioxidant content of food products is a constant challenge amongst researchers. Dried pasta products are popular amongst all groups of society. The most important factor in pasta processing is the quality of the flour. Millet (Panicum miliaceum) flour has high nutritional value, enriching it with cricket (Gryllus bimaculatus) flour is good choice to increase the quality of protein composition and antioxidant properties of products. Flour mixtures of millet and insect flours (5% and 10%) were analysed after mixing and pasta processing. Addition of wheat gluten improved both texture and nutrition value of pasta products. Total polyphenol content, antioxidant capacity, total protein content, free and total amino acid composition were studied. Quality analysis of dried pasta products were carried out according to Hungarian standards. Data was analysed with Kruskal-Wallis test, Dunn's pair-wise post hoc test was used with Bonferroni correction. The correlation was determined by Spearman's rank. Addition of cricket flour modified the pH, acid value, moisture content, and colour of the samples, these changes lasted during storage. Enrichment could increase the total phenol content significantly even at the low level of 10%. Heat treatment during pasta processing had negative effect on the antioxidant capacity except at higher cricket flour contents. Cricket flour's high protein content proportionately increased millet flour's, thus pasta products'. Dried pasta products passed all quality norms. Enrichment of millet flour with cricket flour is favourable from both nutritional and quality aspects
Magnetism, Critical Fluctuations and Susceptibility Renormalization in Pd
Some of the most popular ways to treat quantum critical materials, that is,
materials close to a magnetic instability, are based on the Landau functional.
The central quantity of such approaches is the average magnitude of spin
fluctuations, which is very difficult to measure experimentally or compute
directly from the first principles. We calculate the parameters of the Landau
functional for Pd and use these to connect the critical fluctuations beyond the

Order in extremal trajectories
Given a chaotic dynamical system and a time interval in which some quantity
takes an unusually large average value, what can we say of the trajectory that
yields this deviation? As an example, we study the trajectories of the
archetypical chaotic system, the baker's map. We show that, out of all
irregular trajectories, a large-deviation requirement selects (isolated) orbits
that are periodic or quasiperiodic. We discuss what the relevance of this
calculation may be for dynamical systems and for glasses
Development of a training program to support health care professionals to deliver the SPACE for COPD self-management program
Open access journalBackground: With the growing burden of COPD and associated morbidity and mortality, a need for self-management has been identified. The Self-management Programme of Activity, Coping and Education for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (SPACE for COPD) manual was developed to support self-management in COPD patients. Currently, there is no literature available regarding health care professionals’ training needs when supporting patients with COPD on self-management.
Aim: This study sought to identify these needs to inform, design and develop a training program for health care professionals being trained to deliver a self-management program in COPD.
Methods: Fourteen health care professionals from both primary and secondary care COPD services participated in face-to-face semistructured interviews. Thematic analysis was used to produce a framework and identify training needs and views on delivery of the SPACE for COPD self-management program. Components of training were web-based knowledge training, with pre- and posttraining knowledge questionnaires, and a 1-day program to introduce the self-management manual. Feedback was given after training to guide the development of the training program.
Results: Health care professionals were able to identify areas where they required increased knowledge to support patients. This was overwhelming in aspects of COPD seen to be outside of their current clinical role. Skills in goal setting and behavioral change were not elicited as a training need, suggesting a lack of understanding of components of supporting self-management. An increase in knowledge of COPD was demonstrated following the training program.
Conclusion: Both knowledge and skill gaps existed in those who would deliver self-management. Analysis of this has enabled a training program to be designed to address these gaps and enable health care professionals to support patients in self-management.

Peculiarities in the behavior of the entropy diameter for molecular liquids as the reflection of molecular rotations and the excluded volume effects
The behavior of the diameter of the coexistence curve in terms of the entropy
and the corresponding diameter are investigated. It is shown that the diameter
of the coexistence curve in term of the entropy is sensitive to the change in
the character of the rotational motion of the molecule in liquid phase which is
governed by the short range correlations. The model of the compressible
effective volume is proposed to describe the phase coexistence both in terms of

Onset of magnetism in B2 transition metals aluminides
Ab initio calculation results for the electronic structure of disordered bcc
Fe(x)Al(1-x) (0.4<x<0.75), Co(x)Al(1-x) and Ni(x)Al(1-x) (x=0.4; 0.5; 0.6)
alloys near the 1:1 stoichiometry, as well as of the ordered B2 (FeAl, CoAl,
NiAl) phases with point defects are presented. The calculations were performed
using the coherent potential approximation within the Korringa-Kohn-Rostoker
method (KKR-CPA) for the disordered case and the tight-binding linear
muffin-tin orbital (TB-LMTO) method for the intermetallic compounds. We studied
in particular the onset of magnetism in Fe-Al and Co-Al systems as a function
of the defect structure. We found the appearance of large local magnetic
moments associated with the transition metal (TM) antisite defect in FeAl and
CoAl compounds, in agreement with the experimental findings. Moreover, we found
that any vacancies on both sublattices enhance the magnetic moments via
reducing the charge transfer to a TM atom. Disordered Fe-Al alloys are
ferromagnetically ordered for the whole range of composition studied, whereas
Co-Al becomes magnetic only for Co concentration >0.5.Comment: 11 pages with 9 embedded postscript figures, to be published in

Order parameter symmetry in ferromagnetic superconductors
We analyze the symmetry and the nodal structure of the superconducting order
parameter in a cubic ferromagnet, such as ZrZn. We demonstrate how the
order parameter symmetry evolves when the electromagnetic interaction of the
conduction electrons with the internal magnetic induction and the spin-orbit
coupling are taken into account. These interactions break the cubic symmetry
and lift the degeneracy of the order parameter. It is shown that the order
parameter which appears immediately below the critical temperature has two
components, and its symmetry is described by {\em co-representations} of the
magnetic point groups. This allows us to make predictions about the location of

Inclusive meson production in peripheral collisions of ultrarelativistic heavy ions
There exist several proposals to use Weizs\"{a}cker-Williams photons
generated by ultrarelativistic heavy ions to produce exotic particles in
fusion reactions. To estimate the background conditions for such
reactions we analyze various mechanisms of meson production in very peripheral
collisions of ultrarelativistic heavy ions at RHIC and LHC energies. Besides
fusion they include also electromagnetic interactions
and strong nucleon-nucleon interactions in grazing collisions. All these
processes are characterised by low multiplicities of produced particles.
and events are simulated by corresponding Monte Carlo codes,
RELDIS and FRITIOF. In each of these processes a certain fraction of pions is
produced close to the mid-rapidity region that gives a background for the
events. The possibility of selecting mesons produced in
fusion events via different cut procedures is
