    Wave packet dynamics of entangled two-mode states

    We consider a model Hamiltonian describing the interaction of a single-mode radiation field with the atoms of a nonlinear medium, and study the dynamics of entanglement for specific non-entangled initial states of interest: namely, those in which the field mode is initially in a Fock state, a coherent state, or a photon-added coherent state. The counterparts of near-revivals and fractional revivals are shown to be clearly identifiable in the entropy of entanglement. The ``overlap fidelity'' of the system is another such indicator, and its behaviour corroborates that of the entropy of entanglement in the vicinity of near-revivals. The expectation values and higher moments of suitable quadrature variables are also examined, with reference to possible squeezing and higher-order squeezing.Comment: 18 pages, 7 figure

    Synthesis of cobalt ferrite nanoparticles by constant pH co-precipitation and their high catalytic activity in CO oxidation

    A series of cobalt ferrite samples were synthesized from a metal nitrate solution at constant pH between 9 and 12 by the controlled co-precipitation method without any surfactant. Cobalt and iron nitrates and sodium hydroxide base were simultaneously dosed so that the pH was precisely controlled during co-precipitation. The samples were characterized by PXRD, SEM, TEM, BET, and TPR. Careful analysis of typical PXRD peak profiles suggested the presence of two different variants of cobalt ferrite, a nano-scale material giving rise to broad peak tails and a more crystalline material leading to a sharper central profile. Rietveld refinement could be used to quantify the relative amount of both nano and crystalline fractions in these samples indicating that their relative abundance can be controlled by the co-precipitation pH. TEM analysis further proved the presence of both crystalline and nanocrystalline region in the samples. The average crystallite size of the cobalt ferrite nanocrystallites was 4–5 nm. These samples exhibit high BET surface area, in the order of 200 m2 g-1. The samples were tested for catalytic performance in the CO oxidation reaction. The surface area, reduction behavior, and catalytic performance of ferrites were dependent on the relative amount of both the crystalline and nanocrystalline phases

    The Asian Green Lipped mussel, Perna viridis one of the widely distributed bivalves act as a source of low cost protein providing nutritious meal to the coastal population in the form of well balanced amino acids and micronutrients. The immune system produces antibodies to certain class of proteins present in shellfish meat thereby causing hypersensitive reactions in the body. The next generation integrated transcriptome sequencing approach identifies all the potential allergenic proteins expressed in an animal very effectively. The present study describes the transcriptome of P. viridis based on the sequence data generated using five tissues. Transcriptome level candidate allergens and epitopes were observed and identified that might play a role in hypersensitive reaction to shellfish proteins including certain novel candidate allergens like Ran protein and a filamin A like protein. The existence of epitope hotspots in an important protein, arginine kinase was also observed and the unigenes identified would be a valuable resource for conduct of functional studies

    Effects of intravenous lignocaine on anaesthetic parameters in cattle under dexmedetomidine-butorphanol-ketaminemidazolam- isofluraneanaesthesia

    The present study was conducted for clinical evaluation of a multimodal anaesthetic protocol using butorphanol-dexmedetomidine-midazolam-ketamine-isoflurane and lignocaine continuous rate infusion (CRI) in six cross-bred female cattle. Preanaesthetics used were butorphanol and dexmedetomidine which were administered intravenously at dose rates of 0.05 mg/kg and 1 μg/ kg body weight, respectively. Ketamine and midazolam were intravenously administered at dose rates of 4.0 and 0.2 mg/kg body weight respectively, to induce anaesthesia. Isoflurane was used to maintain anaesthesia after endotracheal intubation, at a concentration of 1.05 ± 0.97 per cent concentration in 100 per cent oxygen using a large animal anaesthesia machine. Simultaneously, intravenous lignocaine was administered at a bolus dose of 2 mg/kg body weight followed by a CRI of 3 mg/kg body weight/hour using a volumetric infusion pump. Isoflurane sparing effect of intravenous lignocaine reduced the required concentration of isoflurane for maintenance. The third plane of surgical anaesthesia was maintained and various surgical procedures were done. Recovery was smooth. Other than the mild regurgitation of ruminal fluid in an animal, no anaesthetic complications were noticed
