    In the review the existent methodic approaches to the verification of ACD (apoptotic cell death) based on the dying cell morphology study (routine light and electron microscopy, luminescent microscopic examination, DNA fragmentation reveal in situ and so on) have been observed, the main structural differences between necrosis and apoptosis in connection with the pathophysiology of these processes and the significance of specific morphological changes in differential diagnostics of cell death type have been discussed. It has been demonstrated the relativity of the existing ACD criterions, many of them were classic characteristics of the cell states, the former necrobiosis and coagulation necrosis.     An asymmetry of renal lymph nodes involvement has been found in laboratory mice (BALB/c) with spontaneous blood neoplasms (lymphomas and leukemias). Left lymph node is more frequently involved and its enlargement (lymphadenopathy) is significantly more expressive in compare to right lymph node. The difference is not related to sex of animals and histological type of neoplasm. Microscopic pictures of the affected right and left lymph nodes also do not demonstrate differences. The involvement of other pair lymph nodes is not shown to be asymmetrical constantly.     Mixed pleural mesothelioma is uncommon spontaneous tumor in laboratory mice. The case of this tumor in BALB/c mouse has been described in the paper.     Mitochondria-Targeted Antioxidant SkQ1 Improves Dermal Wound Healing in Genetically Diabetic Mice

    Oxidative stress is widely recognized as an important factor in the delayed wound healing in diabetes. However, the role of mitochondrial reactive oxygen species in this process is unknown. It was assumed that mitochondrial reactive oxygen species are involved in many wound-healing processes in both diabetic humans and animals. We have applied the mitochondria-targeted antioxidant 10-(6β€²-plastoquinonyl)decyltriphenylphosphonium (SkQ1) to explore the role of mitochondrial reactive oxygen species in the wound healing of genetically diabetic mice. Healing of full-thickness excisional dermal wounds in diabetic C57BL/KsJ-dbβˆ’/dbβˆ’ mice was significantly enhanced after long-term (12 weeks) administration of SkQ1. SkQ1 accelerated wound closure and stimulated epithelization, granulation tissue formation, and vascularization. On the 7th day after wounding, SkQ1 treatment increased the number of Ξ±-smooth muscle actin-positive cells (myofibroblasts), reduced the number of neutrophils, and increased macrophage infiltration. SkQ1 lowered lipid peroxidation level but did not change the level of the circulatory IL-6 and TNF. SkQ1 pretreatment also stimulated cell migration in a scratch-wound assay in vitro under hyperglycemic condition. Thus, a mitochondria-targeted antioxidant normalized both inflammatory and regenerative phases of wound healing in diabetic mice. Our results pointed to nearly all the major steps of wound healing as the target of excessive mitochondrial reactive oxygen species production in type II diabetes

    Background. It is accepted that 1,2-dimethylhydrazineΒ  (DMH)Β  induced androgen-dependent hemangiosarcoma (HAS)Β  of fibrous renal capsule (RC) in CBA male mice. This experimental model is used to study hormone-dependent tumors. It is considered that RΠ‘ (site of HAS growth) is avaskular. For clarifying the nature of such paradoxical phenomen we studied the tumour histogenesis.Materials and methods. CBA male mice received 15 subcutaneous injections of DMH. The duration of the experiment was 50 weeks. From RC whole-mounted preparations and paraffin sections were made. Immunohistochemistry method with antibody against endothelium and stem cells CD34 were used to investigate the endothelium cell precursors.Results. We have found single CD34 well expressive cells and capillary structures in intact RC. Nevertheless on the initial stages of HAS growth the CD34 expression was markedly weaker or completely absent compared with intact RC. In the late HAS develop the intensive CD34 expression was detected.Conclusions. In summary, for the first time we have shown that murine fibrous RC is not completely avascular education, as it was supposed earlier.     An asymmetry of renal lymph nodes involvement has been found in laboratory mice (BALB/c) with spontaneous blood neoplasms (lymphomas and leukemias). Left lymph node is more frequently involved and its enlargement (lymphadenopathy) is significantly more expressive in compare to right lymph node. The difference is not related to sex of animals and histological type of neoplasm. Microscopic pictures of the affected right and left lymph nodes also do not demonstrate differences. The involvement of other pair lymph nodes is not shown to be asymmetrical constantly. It seems that the asymmetry of renal lymph nodes involvement is related to more intensive glucocorticoids production by right adrenal gland in compare to left adrenal gland, consequently, higher level of antiproliferative adrenal hormones in lymph which drain from adrenal glands to ipsilateral lymph nodes

    Three rare tumors occurring in laboratory mice, namely: myoepithelial carcinoma of the salivary gland, malignant neuroendocrine tumors (carcinoid) of the cecum and insular carcinoma of the pancreas have been described. Carcinoid tumor of the cecum was first diagnosed as a spontaneous neoplasm in mice without genetic modification. Analysis of diagnostic features of these neoplasms and their characteristics in comparison with the published cases has been presented
