    Utilization of ferrous-magnesium slag for production of binding materials

    Utilization of Pechenganickel, Severonickel and Norilsk Nickel smelter plants ferrous-magnesium slag for production of Portland slag cement, lime-slag cement and alkali-activated slag cement has been considered. Influence of mechanical activation of ferrous-magnesium slag, in air and in carbon dioxide atmosphere, on its binding properties has been studied. It has been shown that preliminary mechanical activation in CO2 results in an increase of compressive strength of alkali-activated slag cement.     THE ASSESSMENT OF CLIMATE CHANGE AND WATERSHED EFFECT ON THE HETEROTROPHIC METABOLISM IN THE LAKE ONEGO ECOSYSTEM

    Lake Onego, as one of the largest water bodies in a humid zone, is the recipient of terrestrial carbon and plays an important role in the global balance of this element. Due to heterotrophic metabolism in the Lake Onego ecosystem, substantial emissions of carbon dioxide from this lake into the atmosphere can be assumed. However, the extent of this phenomenon is still poorly known. As a climate change has led to an increase in water and organic matter flow into the northern water bodies, the carbon balance study of aquatic ecosystems is of particular relevance. The elements of the water balance for the Lake Onego catchment area in the current climate conditions are assessed. Based on satellite images the model of Lake Onego watershed terrestrial ecosystems is used to simulate the flow of organic matter into the lake with different types of vegetation and topography consideration. The assessment of the benthic communities habitat is carried out taking into account the accumulation of organic matter in various parts of Lake Onego

    Formation of moral culture of students using a foreign language in a professional-pedagogical university

    The provisions on the upbringing and formation of the moral culture of students when teaching a foreign language in a professional-pedagogical university are considered. The relevance is due to the introduction of amendments to the Federal Law "On education in the Russian Federation on the upbringing of students". The purpose of the educational process at the university as an organic unity of teaching and upbringing is analyzed. It is proved that the student, getting acquainted with a different national culture, learns to appreciate and recognize the culture of his people. The pedagogical experience of organizing events for the formation of moral culture using a foreign language is presented. The effectiveness of the implementation of the plan of measures for education in the organization of independent work is shown.Рассматриваются положения по воспитанию и формированию нравственной культуры студентов при обучении иностранному языку в профессионально-педагогическом вузе. Отмечена актуальность темы, обусловленная внесением изменений в Федеральный закон «Об образовании в РФ» по вопросам воспитания обучающихся. Проанализировано предназначение образовательного процесса в вузе как органического единства обучения и воспитания. Доказано, что знакомство с иной национальной культурой позволяет обучающемуся учиться ценить и узнавать культуру своего народа. Представлен педагогический опыт организации мероприятий по формированию нравственной культуры средствами иностранного языка.     Surgical treatment of patients with symptomatic Kimmerle's anomaly using video endoscopy

    Background: Clinical manifestations of Kimmerle’s anomaly are detected in 5.5 to 20% of patients. The main reason for the development of symptoms is prolonged compression of the V3 (atlantic) segment of the vertebral artery in the bone ring as a result of the atlantooccipital membrane’s exostosis. To date, the final tactics for treating patients with Kimmerle’s anomaly has not been determined. The effectiveness of conservative methods of therapy does not exceed 40%. The aim Of this study was to evaluate the results of a minimally invasive surgical treatment of patients with symptomatic Kimmerle’s anomaly using video endoscopic assistance. Methods: In the period from 2020 to 2022, 15 patients were operated on. The indication for the surgical treatment was the lack of the conservative therapy’s effect for 1 year from the onset of the disease, aggravation of the disease symptoms, a decrease in the blood flow through the vertebral artery at the Kimmerle’s anomaly side when turning the head. The vertebral artery decompression was performed using video endoscopy through a posterior median approach in two (13%) patients and through a paravertebral intermuscular approach (4 cm incision in the occipitocervical region in the projection of the Kimmerle’s anomaly) in thirteen (87%) patients. Results: The outcome of the disease was assessed at the time of discharge from the hospital, as well as in 6 and in 12 months after the operation. Following the surgical treatment, all the patients showed the complete regression of symptoms and restoration of the blood flow velocities in the vertebral artery. There were no complications after the operation. The use of video endoscopy made it possible to reduce the size of the surgical wound from 12 cm to 4 cm, which contributed to a decrease in the intensity of pain in the postoperative period, early activation and a decrease in the duration of the inpatient treatment. Conclusion: With the proper selection of patients with Kimmerle’s anomaly, decompression of the V3 segment of the VA using video endoscopy is a safe and effective method of treatment

    Long-term results of microvascular decompression with video endoscopy in the treatment of patients with atypical trigeminal neuralgia

    Background: The incidence of atypical trigeminal neuralgia (aNTN) varies from 1 to 7 per 100,000 population per year. The main cause of its development is compression of the trigeminal nerve (TN) root by a vein and/or artery in the cerebellar cistern. To date, the final tactics of treatment for patients with aNTN has not been specified. The effectiveness of conservative methods of therapy does not exceed 50%. The aim of this study was to evaluate the results of microvascular decompression using video endoscopy in the treatment of patients with atypical trigeminal neuralgia. Methods: In the period from 2014 to 2021, 34 patients with aNTN were operated on, of which 18 (53%) patients had neuropathic pain (more than 4 points on the DN4 scale), and 15 (44%) patients had transformation of classical trigeminal neuralgia into atypical neuralgia. The conservative therapy (carbamazepine, gabapentin, pregabalin), administered to all the patients in the preoperative period, was not accompanied by a significant relief of pain syndrome. The maximum intensity of pain upon admission to the hospital was, according to the visual analog scale (VAS), 10 points, according to the BNI (Barrow Neurological Institute) Pain Intensity Scale V (severe, persistent pain). All the patients underwent microvascular decompression of the trigeminal nerve root with the use of Teflon; in 12 (35%) patients, in addition to microscopy, video endoscopy was used. The average follow-up period after the surgery was 3.41.7 years (from 1 to 5 years). Results: In all (100%) patients, the pain was completely eliminated (BNI I) after the surgery. A total five-year excellent and good outcome of the disease on the J. Miller and BNI scale (I -II) was noted in 80% (n=27) of patients with aNTN. The risk of pain recurrence after microvascular decompression was 14% (n=3) in the first three years, and 34% (n=4) after 5 years. The use of video endoscopy made it possible to identify the blood vessels compressing the root of the trigeminal nerve with a minimal displacement of the cerebellum and cranial nerves when visualizing the neurovascular conflict. Conclusion: The microvascular decompression method with video endoscopy is effective in the treatment of patients with aNTN

    Методика количественного анализа маркерного субстрата ABCB1-белка фексофенадина в лизате клеток Caco-2

    One way to analyze the activity of the ABCB1 protein is to assess the accumulation of its substrate fexofenadine (F.) inside the test cells. The goal is to develop and validate a method for the quantitative analysis of F. in Caco-2 cell lysate using HPLC-MS/MS. Materials and methods. Caco-2 cell lysate was used as a matrix. The analysis was performed on an "Ultimate 3000" chromatograph with a TSQ Fortis triple quadrupole mass detector, a UCT Selectra C18 4.6 mm*100 mm 5 µm column in a gradient elution mode. The mobile phase rate was 0.3 ml/min, the sample volume was 20 µl, the ionization mode was positive, and the internal standard was amantadine (ng/ml). Sample preparation — precipitation of cell lysate protein with acetonitrile. The method was validated for the following parameters: selectivity, linearity, lower limit of quantitation (LLOQ), correctness, precision, sample transfer and sample stability. Results. Chromatograms of the blank lysate of Caco-2 cells showed no peaks with retention times characteristic of F. (5.70 min) and amantadine (3.58 min). NPKO F. was 0.5 ng/ml. F.'s transfer did not exceed 20% of NPKO, and amantadine — 5%. Based on the results of the analysis of three series of calibration standards (0.5; 1; 1.5; 5; 10; 25; 40; 50 ng/ml), linear regression equations were obtained, the correlation coefficients exceeded 0.99. Accuracy and precision were assessed within and between cycles by analyzing F. solutions in the matrix (0.5; 1.5; 25 and 40 ng/ml) within three cycles. The parameters did not exceed 20% for LLPO and 15% for other points. The stability of F. solutions (1.5 and 40 ng/ml) in the lysate was analyzed during storage at room temperature, after 3-fold freezing-thawing, storage at -80 °C for 60 days, after sample preparation and being in the autosampler for 24 hours. The accuracy was within 15% of the nominal values. Conclusions. A method for the quantitative determination of F. in Caco-2 cell lysate using HPLC-MS/MS has been developed and validated.Один из способов анализа активности ABCB1-белка — это оценка накопления его субстрата фексофенадина (Ф.) внутри тест-клеток. Цель — разработка и валидация методики количественного анализа Ф. в лизате клеток Caco-2 с помощью ВЭЖХ-МС/МС. Материалы и методы. В качестве матрицы использовался лизат клеток Caco-2. Анализ выполняли на хроматографе «Ultimate 3000» с тройным квадрупольным масс-детектором TSQ Fortis, колонкой UCT Selectra C18 4,6 мм×100 мм 5 мкм в градиентном режиме элюирования. Скорость подвижной фазы — 0,3 мл/мин, объём пробы — 20 мкл, режим ионизации — положительный, внутренний стандарт — амантадин (нг/мл). Пробоподготовка — осаждение белка лизата клеток ацетонитрилом. Методику валидировали по параметрам: селективность, линейность, нижний предел количественного определения (НПКО), правильность, прецизионность, перенос пробы и стабильность образцов. Результаты. На хроматограммах холостого лизата клеток Caco-2 не было пиков со временем удерживания, характерным для Ф. (5,70 мин) и амантадина (3,58 мин). НПКО Ф. составил 0,5 нг/мл. Перенос Ф. не превышал 20 % НПКО, а амантадина — 5 %. По результатам анализа трёх серий градуировочных стандартов (0,5; 1; 1,5; 5; 10; 25; 40; 50 нг/мл) получены уравнения линейной регрессии, коэффициенты корреляции превышали 0,99. Правильность и прецизионность оценивали внутри и между циклами, выполняя анализ растворов Ф. в матрице (0,5; 1,5; 25 и 40 нг/мл) в рамках трёх циклов. Параметры не превышали 20 % для НПКО и 15 % — для остальных точек. Стабильность растворов Ф. (1,5 и 40 нг/мл) в лизате анализировали при хранении при комнатной температуре, после 3-кратной заморозки–разморозки, хранении при -80 °С 60 сут., после пробоподготовки и нахождения в автосемплере 24 ч. Правильность находилась в пределах 15 % от номинальных значений. Выводы. Разработана и валидирована методика количественного определения Ф. в лизате клеток Caco-2 с помощью ВЭЖХ-МС/МС
