The study of the endoparasitic cephaline gregarine in the gut content of millipede (Chondromorpha severini) was found to be infested with a new species (Stenophora bristili) of genus Stenophora (Labee, 1899). It differs from all the earlier reported species. The shape of the body of cephalont small elongated, slightly curved and rounded posterior end. Potomerite consists of fine bundle of bristles. The Sporont is elongated curved, slightly tapering and rounded posterior end, having brush like broader in between protomerite and deutomerite, Nucleus isspherical with ecentric karyosome. The different developmental stages including cephalont, sporont, gametocyst and sporocyst have been observed

An Improved AMR AMI Approach for Metering & Energy Monitoring

    Get PDF
The growing demand of e nergy in day to life has also increase the demand of momonitoring and managing it. So connectivity solution for smart metering address the challenge of liable, secure and robust communications for remote metering and home en ergy management , Enabling remote metering with Web connectivity is needed . In this pap er an AMR solution with standalone transceivers to complete systems - on - chip with 32 - bit ARM® core and embedded memory, supporting both sub - GHz frequencies (including 868/915MHz) and 2.4 GHz license - free frequency bands is discussed with other available solution

    Isolated multiple cutaneous verruciform xanthomas

    Get PDF
Verruciform xanthoma (VX) is a rare benign skin condition, primarily of the oral mucosa that can also affect the skin and genital mucosa. The etiology is not yet completely understood; though its association with conditions of chronic inflammation or trauma, chronic lymphedema, chronic graft versus host disease and CHILD syndrome are mentioned in the literature. Here, we report the case of multiple verruciform xanthomas on the bilateral forearms and upper back of a 25-year-old man in the absence of chronic skin disease or systemic disease and surprisingly, he didn’t have mucosal VX too. Histopathology of the lesion showed nodular dense infiltrate of foamy macrophages in the papillary dermis which stained positive for CD68

Effectiveness of intra-articular hyaluronic acid versus corticosteroids in knee osteoarthritis: a comparative study

    Get PDF
Background: Osteoarthritis (OA) is the largest cause of disability worldwide and the most common cause of knee discomfort. OA is a chronic, progressive joint disease marked by articular cartilage deterioration and secondary hyperosteogeny. OA affects 35 percent of those over the age of 65 and produces considerable pain in the knee joint. The patient with OA not only suffers from chronic pain, stiffness, and reduced movement, physical and/or mental co-morbidity, but also has a direct impact on their quality of life. Methods: 72 patients with symptomatic osteoarthritis of unilateral knee joint (pain >3 months) were included in the present study. They were randomly divided into two groups; group A (n=36) included patients who were given intra-articular injection hyaluronic acid and group B (n=36) included those who were given intra-articular corticosteroid injection. All the data was compared both within the group as well as with one another at different follow up time. Results: There was no significant difference in the basic demographic distribution in both groups. Female sex predilection was seen in the present study. In patients receiving hyaluronic acid (HA), mean baseline visual analog scale (VAS) score was noted to be 7.45±1.4. Then at 2 weeks, 6 weeks, 3 months and 6 months follow up the mean VAS score was 3.4±1.3, 2.78±1.1, 3.71±1.4 and 3.90±1.2; p<0.05).Conclusions: Steroids provide an acute symptomatic relief but their benefits are short lasting. On the other hand, HA provides long lasting therapeutic pain relief

CRITICAL REVIEW OF DRUG INDUCED CARDIOTOXICITY W.S.R. TO GARA VISHA

    Get PDF
Cardiotoxicity is a condition when there is damage to heart muscles by a toxin. It has many causes but drug induced cardiotoxicity is more common. Agadtantra is one of the eight clinical branches of Ayurveda. It deals with Visha, their characteristics, manifestations and treatment. Cardiovascular diseases and cancer are the most common causes of death in India. Out of which, heart failure is a major cause. Cardiotoxicity is one reason for heart failure; it may cause due to some common drug categories like anticancer agents, monoclonals, antihypertensives, antidepressants etc. No specific antidote treatment for drug induced cardiotoxicity is available till now. Currently it is managed by using general line of treatment and symptomatic treatment. Gara visha (Artificial Poison) is the type of Samyogaja visha (Unnatural poison or chemically prepared poison) which is prepared by the combination of either poisonous or non-poisonous substances. Thorough literature review has been conducted on modern aspect of drug induced cardiotoxicity and classical aspect of Gara visha. It is found that there is positive correlation between drugs induced cardiotoxicity and Gara visha. Hence, it is concluded that various treatment modalities useful in Gara visha can be effective in drug induced cardiotoxicity. Present article will be helpful for researchers to explore different dimensions of treatment of drug induced cardiotoxicity

During the period of 4 months (Monsoon Season) that is from, Jul,2011 - Oct, 2011, total 699 faecal samples were examined for coccidial infections, out of which 172 samples were positive the percentage of prevalence being 25.40%. Comparative study of different eight districts shows minor differences in prevalence

Study of Ciliate Commensals from the Gills of Freshwater Bivalves (Molluscs: Bivalvia) of Jayakwadi Dam, Paithan, (M.S.), India

    Get PDF
Samples of bivalve species viz. Lamillidens marginalis L. corrianus and Indonaia caeruleus were collected from the Jayekwadi dam. Three species of obligate commensalistic ciliates, Conchophthirus acuminatus, C. curtus and C. nikamentus n.sp. belonging to genus Conchophthirus were observed on the gills and mantle cavity of bivalve. Prevalence of the ciliate infection were reported for all three species of bivalves and Conchophthirus.  Correlation of infection intentisity with the length of shell in three species of bivalves were studied

The objective of this study was first to investigate the prevalence of poultry coccidiosis and to identify the coccidial species occurring in the study area on local strain .The study involved   survey, fecal examination, and identification of coccidial species based on their morphology, predilection site in the intestine and sporulation time.Chicken is more susceptible to Eimeria tenella, Eimeria necatrix, Eimeria brunetti, Eimeria mitis, Eimeria acervulina, Eimeria praecox, Eimeria maxima. During our investigation three new species i.e. Eimeria nikamae, Eimeria tarabaie, Eimeria shivpuri, were recorded in Broiler chicken from Aurangabad district of Maharashtra.Â
