    MUTRASHMARI (UROLITHIASIS): A CASE SUCCESSFULLY TREATED WITH GOKSHURADI GUGGULU

    Urolithiasis is a process of resembling stone in urinary tract (In Kidney/Ureter/ Bladder). It is also known as Kidney stone disease. In Ayurvedic literature Urolithiasis is refereed as Mutrashmari. Urolithiasis is very common disease in India, men are more affected than woman and its recurrent rates are very high. The common symptoms of Urolithiasis are Intermittent dull or colicky flank Pain, Painful or Burning urination, Cloudy or foul-smelling urine, blood in the urine and Nausea/Vomiting. In modern system, extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy, Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy, Retrograde Intrarenal Surgery and Laparoscopic Ureterolithotomy are the surgical option available for big size kidney stone. However, there is no proper internal medication available for small size Urolithiasis but causative factors, clinical features, type and prognosis of Mutrashmari are elaborately described in classical text of Ayurveda. Gokshuradi Guggulu is commonly used herbal medicine in Ayurveda for urinary disorders. Small kidney stones with a diameter of less than 5 millimeters are often flushed out in the urine. But here in this case 4mm kidney stone was creating pain and not flushing out even after more than a week. After medication it was found that the stone easily flushed out in the urine with the help of Gokshuradi Guggulu

To assess the impact on grid due to wind energy integration, the knowledge of electrical characteristic of wind turbine and associated control equipments are required.     ADOPTING INNOVATIVE METHOD AND COMPARATIVE EVALUATION OF SWETHA PARPATI MENTIONED IN AYURVEDIC LITERATURE

    In Ayurveda, the study of the therapeutic uses and effects of drugs means Pharmaco-therapeutic is described under the branch of Rasashastra which mainly incorporates inorganic, herbo-mineral and metallic pharmaceutical preparations namely Khalviya Rasayana, Parpati Rasayana, Pottali Rasayana and Kupipakwa Rasayana. This article aims for the comparative assessment of Swethaparpati coming under Parpatikalpa mentioned as per reference of Sidhayogasangraha, AFI with another reference of Rasodharatantra. According to the first two references the ingredients used for the preparation are Suryakshara, Sphatika and Navasadara and as per the third reference ingredients like Tankana and Karpura are added. Here a detailed review of literature has been collected regarding the potential of the above mentioned individual ingredients along with the recent research updates regarding individual ingredients used in the production of Swetha Parpati according to both the references it also incorporate research updates on the formulation Swetha Parpati. This article also aims pharmaceutical standardization of standard method adopted in process of production of Swethaparpati with the alteration made from the usual method adopted in preparation of Parpati Kalpana that will help for developing new improved SOP regarding the formulation.     A CRITICAL AYURVEDIC LITERARY REVIEW OF THE PLANT PANASA (ARTOCARPUS HETEROPHYLLUS LAM.)

    Panasa (Artocarpus heterophyllus Lam), the well known jackfruit tree is widely distributed all over the world. It is a treasure trove of various ethnomedical uses which are yet to be proven scientifically. Its fruit is very delicious and its leaves, root, latex, seed and wood are reported to have many medicinal properties. Though the plant is renowned for its nutritive values, the useful parts of the plant with rich medicinal values are less utilized for medicinal purposes. The plant is well described in Ayurvedic classics where prime importance has been given to its fruit whereas least references are available concerned to its other useful parts especially the leaf. This forms the literature gap concerned with this drug that hinders its further clinical researches. A compiled review of the classical literature of Panasa is not yet available as a ready reference. Hence it is a herculean task for the researcher to compile the literature which is scattered in various classical books of different era. In this work focus has been made to compile the literature of the plant Panasa (Artocarpus heterophyllus Lam) from the Ayurvedic classics. As this work provides the literature of this plant under a single roof it will be helpful for the scholars in future research works

    Oxidative Stress in Wild Boars Naturally and Experimentally Infected with Mycobacterium bovis

    Reactive oxygen and nitrogen species (ROS-RNS) are important defence substances involved in the immune response against pathogens. An excessive increase in ROS-RNS, however, can damage the organism causing oxidative stress (OS). The organism is able to neutralise OS by the production of antioxidant enzymes (AE); hence, tissue damage is the result of an imbalance between oxidant and antioxidant status. Though some work has been carried out in humans, there is a lack of information about the oxidant/antioxidant status in the presence of tuberculosis (TB) in wild reservoirs. In the Mediterranean Basin, wild boar (Sus scrofa) is the main reservoir of TB. Wild boar showing severe TB have an increased risk to Mycobacterium spp. shedding, leading to pathogen spreading and persistence. If OS is greater in these individuals, oxidant/antioxidant balance in TB-affected boars could be used as a biomarker of disease severity. The present work had a two-fold objective: i) to study the effects of bovine TB on different OS biomarkers (namely superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalasa (CAT), glutathione peroxidase (GPX), glutathione reductase (GR) and thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS)) in wild boar experimentally challenged with Mycobacterium bovis, and ii) to explore the role of body weight, sex, population and season in explaining the observed variability of OS indicators in two populations of free-ranging wild boar where TB is common. For the first objective, a partial least squares regression (PLSR) approach was used whereas, recursive partitioning with regression tree models (RTM) were applied for the second. A negative relationship between antioxidant enzymes and bovine TB (the more severe lesions, the lower the concentration of antioxidant biomarkers) was observed in experimentally infected animals. The final PLSR model retained the GPX, SOD and GR biomarkers and showed that 17.6% of the observed variability of antioxidant capacity was significantly correlated with the PLSR X's component represented by both disease status and the age of boars. In the samples from free-ranging wild boar, however, the environmental factors were more relevant to the observed variability of the OS biomarkers than the TB itself. For each OS biomarker, each RTM was defined as a maximum by one node due to the population effect. Along the same lines, the ad hoc tree regression on boars from the population with a higher prevalence of severe TB confirmed that disease status was not the main factor explaining the observed variability in OS biomarkers. It was concluded that oxidative damage caused by TB is significant, but can only be detected in the absence of environmental variation in wild boar
