Nutrient uptake and soil fertility status after harvest of Bt cotton as influenced by graded levels of NPK fertilizers in Alfisol
Field studies were conducted at farmer’s fields in Jodalli (Kalghatgi taluk) and Pale (Hubballi taluk) villages in 2012-13 and 2013-14, respectively to investigate the effect of NPK fertilizers on uptake of nutrients by Bt cotton and soil fertility status at harvest in Alfisol. Among the different treatment combinations, the application of 150:50:75 kg N:P2O5:K2O ha-1 (N3P1K2) recorded significantly (P=0.05) higher nitrogen (132.63 kg ha-1), phosphorus (31.26 kg ha-1) and potassium (128.94 kg ha-1) uptake by cotton. The interaction effect with respect to total micronutrients (Zn, Fe, Mn and Cu) uptake remained non significant at all the growth stages. Graded levels of fertilizers failed to exert significant impact on pH and electrical conductivity, soil organic carbon and available micronutrients during both the years of experimentation. The application of 100:50:50 kgN:P2O5:K2O ha-1 (N1P1K1) recorded significantly (P=0.05) highest available nitrogen (150.39 kg ha-1), available phosphorus (37.98 kg ha-1) and available potassium (230.99 kg ha-1) compared to rest of the treatments. The lowest available nitrogen (134.92 kg ha-1), available phosphorus (31.65 kg ha-1) and available potassium (217.63 kg ha-1) were recorded in treatment receiving 150:50:75 kg N:P2O5:K2O ha-1 (N3P1K2)
Establishing a Wireless Sensor Network to Monitor the Temperature in a two storied building
The advancement in information technology and the need for large-scale communication infrastructure has triggered the era of Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs). Sensor network is a collection of sensor nodes connected wirelessly to one another to gather information about the surrounding environment. In this paper a WSN testbed is established using Texas instruments sensor nodes to monitor the temperature in a two storied building
Trends in world tuna fishery
Since the nineteenth century,
indeed since a ncient times tuna
fishing has been carried out in many
places in the world. These fisheries
were local and generally near the
coasts. As most species of tunas
are highly migratory, fishers caught
them only at certain points in their
life cycle. In other words, the
fishing had to be seasonal
Growth of triploid oyster, Crassostrea madrasensis (Preston)
The performance of I and II meiotic triploids and
control oysters (Crassostrea madrasensis) reared at
Tuticorin Bay was compared to determine if the improvements
in the growth of edible oysters were additive
to faster growth in triploids. After a grow-out
period of 12 months, both mean whole weights and
shell heights were in order Imeiotic triploid4IImeiotic
triploid control. Mean whole weights and shell
height of diferent oyster lines were all signi¢cantly
different (Po0.05). On an average, larger morphological
traits indicated that growth improvements from
triploids were additive, and throughout the study triploid
oystersmaintained faster growth rate than their
diploid siblings. Condition index and adductormuscle
diameter of both triploids were higher than those of
control
Induction and evaluation of triploidy in edible oyster, Crassostrea madrasensis (Preston) - an approach to enhance bivalve aquaculture
Induced triploidy can be used for enhancing production of commercially valuable bivalve species.
Triploid individuals, having an extra set of chromosomes (3n) typically exhibit reduced gametogenic
activity leading to better growth since the energy used for reproduction is reallocated for somatic
growth. In India, research on genetic manipulation of the edible oyster, Crassostrea madrasensis by
triploidy inducement and assessment of triploid performance as a strategy to increase production
has been underway since 1998. This article outlines the potential of using triploidy in bivalve culture
for better returns
Performance Study of Proactive, Reactive and Hybrid Routing Protocols for MANET in Multiple CBR Scenario
Mobile Ad-Hoc Network (MANET) comprises of numerous ubiquitous mobile computing devices called nodes which form distributed network and support dynamic topology without any centralized infrastructure like base station. In such distributed network, the communication between the nodes relies on multihop technique. Since, the nodes in a MANET do not have a priori knowledge of the network topology, it discovers the route through broadcasting and listening to announcement from the neighbours. As the process continues, each node finds one or more routes to all other nodes. Hence, the end-to-end communication in a MANET does not rely on any underlying static network infrastructure but implicates routing via several intermediate nodes. The routing of data in the network depends on the protocol which determines the most appropriate path to forward packets to the intended destination. The routing protocols are classified into proactive, reactive and hybrid. - See more at: http://ijcst.com/vol-6-1/#sthash.WqU9W1rP.4EQeRlbm.dpu
Effective Implementation of Agile Software Development with a Framework, Metric Tool, and in Association with Cloud and Lean Kanban
Delivering software in traditional ways is challenged by agile software development to provide a different approach for developing a product. Agile methods aim at fast, light and efficient than any other vigorous method to develop and support customers business without being chaotic. A Collaborative and Innovative Framework presented suggests the solutions for the levelheaded difficulties in Agile that leads to a software product that proves in practice to be of much higher quality. Also an object oriented software metric tool “Metric Analyzer” is proposed that detects and eliminates code smells in the code base by refactoring
Performance Study of Adhoc on-Demand Link Quality Aware Route Search Protocol (AO-LQARSP)
A Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) is a network with few tens to thousands of small devices called sensor nodes
which are connected wirelessly and involve in communicating
the data. WSNs have generated tremendous interest among
researchers in recent years because of its potential usage in wide variety of applications. The sensor nodes in WSNs have scarce power; they work in harsh and unattended
environments which initiates the need for a better and more
reliable routing path to send data. In this paper a routing
protocol is proposed to select the route based on better signal strength conditions using Link Quality Indicator of the received signal for IEEE 802.15.4 standard. The performance of the proposed routing protocol is compared with standard reactive routing protocol Adhoc On-demand Distance Vector (AODV) with metrics like total packets received, throughput, total bytes received, average end-to-end delay and average jitter and total energy consumed for various node density scenarios
Induction of Triploidy in Indian Edible Oyster Crassostrea madrasensis (Preston) Using 6-Dimethylaminopurine
Triploidy was induced in the Indian edible oyster Crassostrea madrasensis, by treating the newly fertilized
eggs with 6-Dimethylaminopurine.The effect of different concentrations and durations of treatment on
triploidy induction and survival of embryos were examined. The optimum condition was found to be 100 μM
concentration of 6-DMAP for 8 minutes when 50% of the freshly fertilized eggs have extruded the first polar
bodies. This yielded 67±1.7 % of triploid on the first day and 62±1.5% on the D-stage larvae as determined by
examination of the metaphase chromosomes. Survivability among the different treatment groups at D stage were
not significantly different. This is the first demonstration of induction of triploidy in Crassostrea madrasensis
using 6-DMAP and since edible oyster farming is becoming increasingly popular in India, application of this
technique in the production of culture stock assumes importance
