Editorial: Decolonising the University

Therefore, in its variety, the contributions in this special issue share theorisations, auto-ethnographic reflections, and pedagogical experiments of decolonisation, politics of knowledge, and activism informed by Feminist, Gender, and Queer studies but also by non-Eurocentred epistemic geo-genealogies grounded in embodied experiences of racialisation, discrimination, and resistance in the academia. Inserting what are inevitably profoundly political contributions, which question the foundations and limitations of hegemonic knowledge creation, into the mould of an academic peer-reviewed special issue is a complex and, at times, seemingly impossible exercise. As the guest editors and editorial board negotiated the process of this issue’s production, we ourselves were challenged to engage with tensions around what constitutes a ‘proper’ scientific contribution, by which and whose standards. As a reader of this special issue, and perhaps a student, teacher, researcher, activist, or a combination thereof, it is likely that you also find yourself addressed and challenged by some of the critiques and proposals articulated in the articles and essays that follow

The cooperatives in his different associative forms constitute entrepreneurial entities of socialist property of the entire town that they are their permanent workers in associates with right-hand equals that take part in the distribution of profits according to the contributed work. The investigation intends to solve the following problem:  How do we favor the cost-reducing step of the cooperative members of Buey Arriba municipality? The essential objective of the work is the elaboration of a system of workshops of cost-reducing step for the cooperative members of Buey Arriba municipality. The edge of the young galactic disk

In this work, we report and discuss the detection of two distant diffuse stellar groups in the third Galactic quadrant. They are composed of young stars, with spectral types ranging from lateOto late B, and lie at galactocentric distances between 15 and 20 kpc. These groups are located in the area of two cataloged open clusters (VdB-Hagen 04 and Ruprecht 30), projected toward the Vela-Puppis constellations, and within the core of the Canis Major overdensity. Their reddening and distances have been estimated by analyzing their color-color and color-magnitude diagrams, derived from deep UBV photometry. The existence of young star aggregates at such extreme distances from the Galactic center challenges the commonly accepted scenario in which the Galactic disk has a sharp cutoff at about 14 kpc from the Galactic center and indicates that it extends to much greater distances (as also supported by the recent detection of CO molecular complexes well beyond this distance). While the groups we find in the area of Ruprecht 30 are compatible with the Orion and Norma-Cygnus spiral arms, respectively, the distant group we identify in the region of VdB-Hagen 04 lies in the external regions of the Norma-Cygnus arm, at a galactocentric distance (∼20 kpc) where no young stars have been detected so far in the optical.Facultad de Ciencias Astronómicas y Geofísica

Para dicha experiencia fueron convocados museos de todo el país entre los que se contaba el Museo de La Plata con la representación de los autores, concretando la participación de veintidós becarios, incluyendo uno de Chile (Museo Regional de Ancud) y del Brasil (Museo de Etnología y Arqueología de San Pablo).Fundación Museo La Plat

Conservación preventiva en el Museo de La Plata: una experiencia de capacitación

El patrimonio del Museo de La Plata no es sólo aquel que el público aprecia recorriendo sus salas. En su subsuelo laberíntico y otros espacios abundan rincones y depósitos plagados de viejos armarios, cajones, estantes y frascos que guardan la diversidad de la naturaleza y la cultura, retazos de historia natural producto de recolecciones de campo e investigaciones de más de un siglo. Fósiles, plantas, minerales, cerámica, tocados de plumas, insectos, animales taxidermizados para los cuales la tarea cotidiana del personal del museo y, seguramente, la quietud han ayudado a retardar el proceso de deterioro que todo objeto está llamado a sufrir con el paso del tiempo. Sin embargo, en los últimos meses, esta rutina se vio alterada por una experiencia que podríamos calificar de inédita en el Museo de La Plata, la realización del Curso-taller de conservación, embalaje y transporte de colecciones, que -no sólo cumplió con los objetivos de capacitación y actualización en materia de conservación sino que, además, generó un rico intercambio interdepartamental y renovado interés por estos temas.Fundación Museo La Plat
