Objective: The aim of this study was to develop a liquisolid formulation of propranolol hydrochloride to obtain an improved sustained release profile by varying the ratio of liquid vehicles. Methods: In this study, propranolol hydrochloride (PPH) was dispersed in the combination of propylene glycol and polysorbate 80, as the liquid vehicles, with different ratios. Eudragit® RL and Aerosil® were used as carrier and coating materials, respectively, to produce a dry and free-flowing powder. In addition, HPMC was used to amplify the retardation effect. The prepared formulations were evaluated for its physicochemical properties, including loss on drying, flow rate, angle of repose calculation, drug content analysis, FT-IR spectroscopy, as well as dissolution studies. The obtained dissolution profiles were subsequently fitted to the mathematical model in order to determine the drug kinetics. Results: The results show that all formulations performed dry and free-flowing granules containing PPH in the range of 7-9%. Furthermore, all the prepared formulations were able to sustain the drug release for a total of 8 h in two different dissolution media, namely simulated gastric fluid and simulated intestinal fluid. F4 containing propylene glycol and polysorbate 80 (1:2) possessed the lowest drug release rate. It was also obtained that F1 and F3 followed first-order kinetics while F2, F4, and F5 complied with the Higuchi model. Conclusion: Overall, there was no difference in all the dissolution profiles based on the calculation of the difference and similarities factor

Doping used for stamina enhancement and athletes' performance is actually a medicine that has negative effects on health and potentially causes an addiction. Therefore, it is necessary supplements that can increase the stamina and endurance of an athlete and at the same time could minimize the possibility of doping USAge. Bee pollen is one of the products of bees which is rich nutrients. The nutrients content of Bee pollen such as carbohydrates, proteins, lipids, minerals, vitamins, and polyphenols is needed by athletes to increase the endurance and stamina in their activities. To enrich its bioactive components, bee pollen extract and fresh bee pollen powder are combined and called Bee Pollen Plus. The current study was Quasi-Experimental with Non-randomized Pre-Post Test Control Group model design by comparing before and after of bee pollen plus intervention. The preparation of bee pollen plus capsule is started with bee pollen extraction followed by the preparation of bee pollen capsule. By the process, it is obtained 18.48% of rendamen percent. The chemical compound analysis showed the protein, carbohydrate and polyphenol levels of bee pollen plus two times higher than bee pollen powder. The intervention of bee pollen plus capsule was provided for 1 week to the student in football activity unit of Hasanuddin University. The running time, blood pressure, pulse rate, body temperature, and breathing frequency were calculated after physical exercise by using the treadmill. The result obtained shows the increased physical performance especially for running time and pulse rate. It can be concluded that the bee pollen plus capsule has been effective to increase the stamina and endurance of the athlete after physical exercise

IntroductionEarthworms (Lumbricus rubellus) extract is known to contain  bioactive protein as antibacterial compounds. One of the disadvantages of polar compounds is slow penetration into the skin layers which can be solved by formulating it in the form of ethosomal drug delivery system. The aims of this research was to get information about ethanol concentration that can give the highest entrapment efficiency of the ethosome. MethodsEarthworms powder was macerated using 50% ethanol for 3 days. The extract was  formulated into ethosome with variation of ethanol concentration that are 20%, 30%, 40%, and 50%, respectively. The measurement of entrapment efficiency was conducted by measuring the amount of active protein of earthworms extract that was entrapped in ethosome vesicles using spectrophotometer UV-Visible.ResultsThe results showed that the highest entrapment efficiency was 72.58 % performed by formula which was made with 0.5 % extract, 2 % soy lecithin and 50 % ethanol.ConclusionsThe highest percentage of entrapment efficiency of earthworms extract ethosome was 72.58%.Keywords : ethosome, ethanol concentration , entrapment efficiency, Lumbricus rubellus.

Chitosan can be obtained from chitin isolated from shrimp waste through the process of deacetylation of chitin. Chitosan can be used as a patch base material because of its biocompatibility and biodegradability, and has antibacterial activity. The combination of Chitosan and Aloe vera extracts may be useful in patch dosage forms as wound dressings that have antiinfective activity. The research methods was laboratory experimental which consists of : chitosan was obtained from shell waste sequentially by deproteinisation, demineralisation, and deacetylation processes, and analyzed its characteristic, respectivel; Aloe vera gel was extraction by maceration methods using ethanol as solvent; patches were formulated using 2 % chitosan in 1.5 % glacial acetic acid,  1.6 %  Aloe vera extracts and 10 % glycerin and evaluated its physical propoperties,  skin iritation test, and antibacterial test against S.aureus. The results showed that percentage yield of chitosan was 32.67%, with characteristics; Its viscosity 93.33 cps, pH 4, 30 % deacetylation degree.  Percentage yield of Aloe vera  extract was 22.73%, containing acemannan, and had antibacterial activity against S.aureus.  The result of patch evaluation showed that the thickness of patch was 0.45 mm, 114 times folding endurance, moisture uptake of 45.03%, moisture content of 23.64%, safe to use, and  diameter of inhibition zone was 6.39 mm against S.aureus. So, combination of Aloe vera and Chitosan from shrimp shell as patch may use as antiinfection wound healing.  Keywords : Aloe vera L.; chitosan; wound dressing; patch; shrimp shell wast
