    Risk and Protective Factors of Micronesian Youth in Hawai\u27i: An Exploratory Study

    This exploratory, qualitative study examined the risk and protective factors of Micronesian middle and high school students in Hawai\u27i. Forty one Micronesian youth participated in 9 focus groups that explored their experiences within their schools, families, and communities. The findings describe youths\u27 experiences of ecological stress beginning with their migration to Hawai\u27i, and the potential outcomes of this stress (e.g., fighting, gangs, and drug use). Cultural buffers, such as traditional practices and culturally specific prevention programs, were described as aspects that prevented adverse outcomes. Implications for prevention practice are discussed

    An inclusive measurement of the photon energy spectrum in b->s gamma decays

    We report a fully inclusive measurement of the flavour changing neutral current decay b->s gamma in the energy range 1.8 GeV < E* < 2.8 GeV, covering 95% of the total spectrum. Using 140 fb^-1 we obtain BF(b->s gamma)= 3.55 +/- 0.32 +0.30-0.31 +0.11-0.07, where the errors are statistical, systematic and from theory corrections. We also measure the first and second moments of the photon energy spectrum above 1.8 GeV and obtain = 2.292 +/- 0.026 +/- 0.034 GeV and -^2 = 0.0305 +/- 0.0074 +/- 0.0063 GeV^2, where the errors are statistical and systematic.Comment: RevTex4, 6 pages, Submitted to Phys.Rev.Lett.     Exploring New Physics in the C7-C7' plane

    The Wilson coefficient C7 governing the radiative electromagnetic decays of B meson has been calculated to a very high accuracy in the Standard Model, but experimental bounds on either the magnitude or the sign of C7 are often model-dependent. In the present paper, we attempt at constraining both the magnitude and sign of C7 using a systematic approach. We consider already measured observables like the branching ratios of B \rightarrow Xs mu+ mu- and B \rightarrow Xs gamma, the isospin and CP asymmetries in B \rightarrow K* gamma, as well as AFB and FL in B \rightarrow K*l+l-. We also discuss the transverse observable AT2 which, once measured, may help to disentangle some of the scenarios considered. We explore the constraints on C7, C9, C10 as well as their chirality-flipped counterparts. Within our framework, we find that we need to extend the constraints up to 1.6 sigma to allow for the "flipped-sign solution" of C7. The SM solution for C7 exhibits a very mild tension if New Physics is allowed in dipole operators only. We provide semi-numerical expressions for all these observables as functions of the relevant Wilson coefficients at the low scale.Comment: 54 pages, 16 figures, 15 tables.     Bayesian Fit of Exclusive bsˉb \to s \bar\ell\ell Decays: The Standard Model Operator Basis

    We perform a model-independent fit of the short-distance couplings C7,9,10C_{7,9,10} within the Standard Model set of bsγb\to s\gamma and bsˉb\to s\bar\ell\ell operators. Our analysis of BKγB \to K^* \gamma, BK()ˉB \to K^{(*)} \bar\ell\ell and BsμˉμB_s \to \bar\mu\mu decays is the first to harness the full power of the Bayesian approach: all major sources of theory uncertainty explicitly enter as nuisance parameters. Exploiting the latest measurements, the fit reveals a flipped-sign solution in addition to a Standard-Model-like solution for the couplings CiC_i. Each solution contains about half of the posterior probability, and both have nearly equal goodness of fit. The Standard Model prediction is close to the best-fit point. No New Physics contributions are necessary to describe the current data. Benefitting from the improved posterior knowledge of the nuisance parameters, we predict ranges for currently unmeasured, optimized observables in the angular distributions of BK(Kπ)ˉB\to K^*(\to K\pi)\,\bar\ell\ell.Comment: 42 pages, 8 figures; v2: Using new lattice input for f_Bs, considering Bs-mixing effects in BR[B_s->ll].     Observation of B+ -> K+ eta gamma

    We report measurements of radiative B decays with K eta gamma final states, using a data sample of 253 /fb recorded at the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB e+e- storage ring. We observe B+ -> K+ eta gamma for the first time with a branching fraction of (8.4 +- 1.5(stat) +1.2 -0.9(syst)) X 10^{-6} for M(Keta) K0 eta gamma.     Model-independent constraints on new physics in b --> s transitions

    We provide a comprehensive model-independent analysis of rare decays involving the b --> s transition to put constraints on dimension-six Delta(F)=1 effective operators. The constraints are derived from all the available up-to-date experimental data from the B-factories, CDF and LHCb. The implications and future prospects for observables in b --> s l+l- and b --> s nu nu transitions in view of improved measurements are also investigated.     Measurement of Branching Fraction and Direct CP Asymmetry in B0-->rho0 pi0 Decays

    We report a measurement of the decay B0 --> rho0 pi0, using 386 x 10^6 BB-bar pairs collected at the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e- collider. We detect 51^{+14}_{-13} signal events with a significance of 4.2 standard deviations, including systematic uncertainties, and measure the branching fraction to be B(B0 --> rho0 pi0) = (3.12^{+0.88}_{-0.82} (stat) +/- 0.33 (syst) ^{+0.50}_{-0.68} (model)) x 10^{-6}.     We have measured the branching fraction of the inclusive radiative B meson decay B --> X(s) gamma to be Br(B->X(s)gamma)=(3.36 +/- 0.53(stat) +/- 0.42(sys) +0.50-0.54(th)) x 10^{-4}.     Measurement of Time-Dependent CP-Violating Asymmetries in B0KsKsKsB_0 \to K_sK_sK_s Decay

    We present a measurement of CP-violation parameters in the B0 -> KsKsKs decay based on a sample of 275 x 10^6 BBbar pairs collected at the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB energy-asymmetric e+e- collider. One neutral B meson is fully reconstructed in the decay B0 -> KsKsKs, and the flavor of the accompanying B meson is identified from its decay products. CP-violation parameters are obtained from the asymmetry in the distributions of the proper-time interval between the two B decays: S = +1.26 +/- 0.68(stat) +/- 0.20(syst) and A = +0.54 +/- 0.34(stat) +/- 0.09(syst).Comment: 10 pages, 2 figures 10 pages, 2 figure
