This paper presents a part of research on the mechanical properties of compatibilized Poly (ethylene-co-vinyl acetate) (EVA)/ high density polyethylene (HDPE)/ organo modified montmorillonite (OMMT) nanocomposites prepared by melt mixing technique. Use of maleic anhydride grafted polyethylene (MA-g-PE) as Compatibilizer improves compatibility of EVA and HDPE. Blends containing EVA/HDPE blend with 2 phr MA-g-PE shows optimum properties. It observes that the addition of nanoclay improves the mechanical properties like tensile strength, flexural modulus, abrasion resistance and hardness of compatibilized nanocomposites systems. The morphology is studied by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). The optimized properties occurrs at clay loading levels of 4 phr with MA-g-PE system

Cystic lymphangioma of the breast in an infant successfully managed with intralesional bleomycin: a case report with relevant review of the literature

Cystic hygromas, also known as lymphangiomas, are unusual congenital malformations of the lymphatic system and commonly involve the head and neck region or axilla. Involvement of other sites such as breasts is very rare. The preferred mode of treatment for lymphangioma of the breast in adults or children is surgery. We report a case of breast lymphangioma in a 3-month-old male child, which was managed successfully by intralesional bleomycin. Keywords: breast, bleomycin, intralesional sclerosing agent, macrocystic lymphangiom

Prevalence of anxiety, depression, and stress among parents of neonates admitted to neonatal intensive care unit: a systematic review and meta-analysis

Background Neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) admission causes significant distress that can hinder the successful transition into parenthood, child-parent relations, and child development. Purpose This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to understand parental psychological phenomena. Here we assessed the emotional response of parents of newborns during NICU admission. Methods Two authors independently searched the PubMed, Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature, Embase, Clinical Key, and Google Scholar databases for studies published between January 01, 2004, and December 31, 2021. The review followed Cochrane collaboration guidelines and the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis) statement. The quality of the included studies was assessed using the modified Newcastle-Ottawa Scale. Stata software (version 16) was used to compute the results. Results This review comprised 6,822 parents (5,083 mothers, 1,788 fathers; age range, 18–37 years) of NICU patients. The gestational ages and neonatal weights were 25.5–42 weeks and 750–2,920 g, respectively. The pooled prevalence of anxiety was higher among mothers (effect size [ES], 0.51; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.41–0.61; and heterogeneity [I2]=97.1%; P<0.001) than among fathers (ES, 0.26; 95% CI, 0.11–0.42; I2=96.6%; P<0.001). Further, the pooled prevalence of depression was higher among mothers (ES, 0.31; 95% CI, 0.24–0.38; I2=91.5%; P<0.001) than among fathers (ES, 0.12; 95% CI, 0.03–0.22; I2=85.6%; P<0.001). Similarly, the pooled prevalence of stress was higher among mothers (ES, 0.41; 95% CI, 0.31–0.51; I2= 93.9%; P<0.001) than among fathers (ES, 0.22; 95% CI, 0.09–0.34; I2=85.2%; P<0.001). Conclusion NICU admission is more stressful for mothers than fathers and can affect mental health and quality of life. Mothers reported a higher pooled prevalence of stress, anxiety, and depression than fathers, possibly attributable to their feelings about birthing a sick child

Role of Fibrin Glue as a Sealant to Esophageal Anastomosis in Cases of Congenital Esophageal Atresia with Tracheoesophageal Fistula

Abstract Objective The aim of this study was to characterize a successful approach for the management of infants with long-gap esophageal atresia (EA) with tracheoesophageal fistula (TEF). The goal was to preserve the native esophagus and minimize the incidence of esophageal anastomotic leaks using fibrin glue as a sealant over the esophageal anastomosis. Method A total of 52 patients were evaluated in this study. Only patients in whom, gap between the two ends of the esophagus was ‡ 2 cm were selected durin

Congenital urethrocutaneous fistula: Case report with review of literature

    No full text
We are presenting two cases of congenital urethrocutaneous fistula on ventral penile shaft. Congenital urethral fistula is an extremely rare, but easily manageable anomaly that may be confused with hypospadias. Awareness of the entity will avoid complications. This condition may be associated with other anomalies like congenital hernias and anorectal malformations. Treatment of this entity is individualized according to site of fistula, associated anomalies and condition of the distal urethra. All the principles of hypospadias surgery should be strictly followed

STUDIES ON MORPHOLOGY, MECHANICAL AND OPTICAL PROPERTIES OF PP/HDPE/EVA/ PLA BLEND MODIFIED WITH AL2O3 PARTICLES FOR CAST FILM

In this present work, study of mechanical and optical properties of PP/HDPE/EVA/PLA (80/20/5/4) blend reinforced with nano alumina (Al2O3) particles is investigated. In the production process co-rotating twin screw extruder are utilized. Reinforced films are produced with 0.5, 1, 1.5 and 2 phr Al2O3 contents .The screw speed of the extruder is maintained at 150 rpm. After post extrusion, cast films are prepared. Mechanical performance analysis are done in order to examine the change in tensile strength, burst strength, tear strength and kinetic coefficient of friction of the polymeric films. Optical properties are performed for obtaining the data of haze and transmittance. The morphology is studied by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). These results are related to the Al2O3 dispersion, to the type of the different composite formulations with PP/HDPE/EVA/PLA polymer matrix. It has been found that at 0.5 Phr loading of Al2O3 in PP/HDPE/EVA/PLA (80/20/5/4) blend has shown the highest burst and tear strength. On the other hand, the tensile strength shows decreasing order on Al2O3 loading 0.5 to 2 phr. Optical properties such as maximum value of transmittance and haze are also observed as loading of 0.5 Phr of Al2O3 in PP/HDPE/EVA/PLA (80/20/5/4) blend

The compatibilized poly ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer (EVA)/high density polyethylene (HDPE) /organomodified montmorillonite (OMMT) blend nanocomposites were prepared in a co-rotating twin-screw extruder followed by injection molding. Montmorillonite clay was modified by octadecylamine and aminopropyltriethoxysilane to make it organophilic. Maleic anhydride grafted high-density polyethylene was used as a Compatibilizer. Nanoclay was added in different proportions to the selected EVA/HDPE blend composition. The concentration of nanoclay was varied from1 to 5 phr in the polymer blend. The resulting nanocomposites were evaluated in terms of their water absorption behavior. Moisture absorption behavior of compatibilized blends is lower than their corresponding blend. On adding the nanoclay the moisture absorption behavior of blend nanocomposites changed at 4 phr nanoclay loading
