    No full text
In wood products industry, the diversity of wood based panel products is increasing day by day, and composite (sandwich) materials in honeycomb and foam structure have an important place among these. The lightness, flexibility and resistance properties on the site of utilization are the major advantages of these products. Not only they are % 40-70 lighter in weight, resistant to humidity, easy to transport, recyclable and ecological, as compared to the traditional wood based panels such as MDF, OSB, and plywood, but also have sufficient mechanical properties. In this study, production, the advantages and disadvantages of sandwich-structured composite panels are presented. Information on the utilization of sandwich-structured composite panels in furniture industry has been provided and the studies on these products have been investigated

It struggles with six great losses decreasing the efficiency of the equipment. 5S, which is the pre-step of TPM, is a systematic approach providing the contribution of all personnel in the cleaning regime of the company. The clean and steady environment targeted by 5S has positive impacts on the work safety, quality, efficiency and morale. In this study, 5S system, used for ensuring order and discipline in the companies and ensuring the supervision of both simple and even the smallest details, has been reviewed in full details and they have been taken under the content of the research through selecting the assembly department as pilot department for 5S activities applied at a yacht manufacturing company. It has been targeted to set this as a guide for the directors of the company and the researches working in this field by assessing the results of this study

After applying polyurethane and acrylic dye on the 30 test samples prepared as coated or uncoated with paper with 10 x 10 x 1.6 cm sizes from blockboard, the surface hardness values of the protective layer as applied in ASTM D 436695 (1984) were determined, the scratch resistance were determined according to the essentials specified in TS 4757 (1986), and the glossiness were also determined according to the essentials specified in TS 4318 EN ISO 2813 (2002). According to the result of the study, concealing dyeing is obtained with much surface hardness, scratch resistance and glossiness by using less lacquer dye on the boards coated with paper. With this study, it is possible to suggest that coating with paper before lacquer dyeing can be a preferable application in terms of cost and time saving

Such treatment options are targeted therapies of the vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) pathway and the mammalian target of the rapamycin pathway. With the use of tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) and mammalian target of the rapamycin inhibitors, overall survival has increased up to 2 years. In Turkey, due to applicable reimbursement conditions for patients with metastatic renal cell carcinoma (mRCC), interferon use is mandated as a first-line treatment, thus providing information on the use of everolimus only after initial interferon and second-line VEGF-targeted treatments such as VEGF-TKI. Patients and methods: To provide a first real-life data set in Turkey, we conducted a prospective, non-interventional, observational study and assessed the efficacy and safety of everolimus after two lines of treatment including interferon. A total of 100 patients with histologically confirmed mRCC were enrolled in the study from 11 centers between June 2012 and March 2014 (70 males and 30 females). Efficacy was assessed on the basis of progression-free survival and overall survival; safety of everolimus was assessed on the basis of adverse event occurrence. Results: The study results showed that the median progression-free survival with everolimus treatment was 8.1 months (95% CI: 5.1–11.1) and the median overall survival was 17.6 months (95% CI: 10.1–25.1), thus indicating a better overall response based on survival durations than those from the randomized Phase III REnal Cell cancer treatment with Oral RAD001 given Daily study results (4.9 and 14.8 months, respectively). Conclusion: The study showed that everolimus treatment is a safe and effective treatment option in the treatment of mRCC after VEGF-TKI, with an acceptable safety and tolerability profile in real-life settings. WOS: 000385785800008Objective: The aim of the present study is to specify the frequency in psychopharmacological medication use in children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and determine their age range at diagnosis. Methods: Five hundred and twenty three children with ASD who applied to Dr. Sami Ulus Maternity and Children Research and Training Hospital between 2010-2015 were reviewed retrospectively. Data has been obtained from computerized hospital information system. Individuals with the diagnosis of Autism (F84.0), Atypical Autism (F84.1) and Pervasive Developmental Disorder Not Other Specified (F84.9) were screened. Results: Psychotropic medication was recommended to 28.5% of the 523 children and adolescents diagnosed with ASD. Antipsychotics were the most common drugs of choice among psychotropic medications. The mean age at diagnosis of patients taking psychotropic medication was significantly higher than that of the patients who were not taking psychotropic medication (t=-3.064; p<0.01). The rate of psychotropic drug usage in female patients was significantly high than male patients (chi(2)=6.675; p=0.01). Conclusion: The results of the present study suggest that the delay of diagnosis can be included as a factor for psychotropic medication need of patients with ASD. Nearly half of the patients have been diagnosed in the first three years of their life. For further benefits of studies in Turkey, evaluating the psychopharmacological drug prescription rate, age of diagnosis and related factors to determine the present situation of psychotropic medication in our country will be necessary
