    Promoting Professional Development for Teachers Through a Scale of Competence Assessment

    Competencies are a key factor in the professional development of teachers. Additionally, Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) in education are becoming increasingly important due to their potential in the field of education. The combination of both makes it easier to perform a comprehensive assessment of the level of competences of students in the Teacher Degree. The design of tasks and activities in order to promote their assessment enable classroom intervention. Indeed, this paper presents how ICTs have been used in university teaching. In order to respond to the evolution of training needs, we present a valid and reliable evaluation tool for professional competencies and learning results for prospective teachers (Pre-School and Primary Education). We applied for students from the Teacher Degree in their practicum period. Indeed, different learning and assessment tasks have been designed, some related to “correct” or “incorrect” teaching practices. This implies that the students have not only to do their tasks but to identify and to differentiate what is correct in their professional development. Finally, the instrument enables the assessment of the level of professional competencies acquired by prospective teachers during their training period

    Multidimensional Self-Concept Depending on Levels of Resilience and the Motivational Climate Directed towards Sport in Schoolchildren

    (1) Background: Motivation towards sports practice is fundamental at an early age, as this can favor the integral development of the student body. (2) Methods: The main objective of this study was to describe and analyze the relationships between the different dimensions of self-concept based on motivational climate, body mass index and resilience in a sample of 203 children from the third cycle of primary education, with an age between 11 and 13 years (M = 11.54). They completed the motivational climate questionnaires (PMCSQ-2), the self-concept questionnaire (AF-5) and the questionnaire that measures resilience levels (the Connor–Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC)). (3) Results: The results showed that boys are more resilient than girls and, in turn, have a greater tendency to task climate compared to them. Regarding self-concept, males presented higher scores in the academic, social and physical dimensions. In the same line as resilience, the motivational climate in males is oriented to the ego climate and the feminine to the task climate. Negative correlations of physical self-concept were found with the ego and task climate.     Injury prevention programmes in the physical education classroom. A systematic review

    [Resumen] Las lesiones musculoesqueléticas están relacionadas en gran medida con la práctica de actividad físico-deportiva. En el caso de los niños y adolescentes se vinculan al ejercicio que realizan en el transcurso de las clases de Educación Física o las actividades deportivas extraescolares. En esta revisión sistemática, el objetivo de investigación es conocer la tipología lesional existente en el contexto escolar educativo y los programas de prevención vinculados a la descripción de las lesiones que se producen en él y conocer los programas de prevención que se implementan por docentes de Educación Física en el transcurso de sus clases. Se realizó una búsqueda de literatura científica durante los meses de enero y febrero del año 2023 en las bases de datos Web of Science, SCOPUS y PubMed. Como motores de búsqueda se utilizaron las siguientes palabras clave: "injur*", "prevent*”, “program*" y "physical education"; empleándose el operador boleano “and”. Como conclusión destaca la necesidad de continuar investigando y desarrollando programas efectivos de prevención de lesiones en el ámbito escolar y deportivo con el fin de proteger la salud y seguridad de los estudiantes.[Abstract] Musculoskeletal injuries are largely related to the practice of physical-sporting activity. In the case of children and adolescents, they are linked to the exercise they carry out during Physical Education classes or extracurricular sports activities. In this systematic review, the aim of the research is to find out about the types of injuries that exist in the educational school context and the prevention programmes linked to the description of the injuries that occur in it and to find out about the prevention programmes that are implemented by Physical Education teachers in the course of their classes. A search of scientific literature was carried out during the months of January and February 2023 in the Web of Science, SCOPUS and PubMed databases. The following keywords were used as search engines: " injur* ", " prevent* ", " program* " and " physical education ", using the Boolean operator "and". In conclusion, it highlights the need to continue researching and developing effective injury prevention programmes in schools and sports in order to protect the health and safety of students

    Accidentes deportivos en espacios abiertos y cerrados. Una revisión sistemática

    El aumento de la demanda y práctica de actividad física está incrementando el número de lesiones y accidentes deportivos. Atendiendo a esta premisa, el objetivo que refleja la presente investigación es el de analizar la accidentalidad en la práctica de actividad física en diferentes modalidades en espacios abiertos y cerrados. Para ello, se ha seguido la declaración PRISMA, abarcando los artículos ubicados en la Web of Science durante los últimos cinco años. Los términos de investigación han sido “sport” “physical activity” y “accident” y se han incluido investigaciones con un diseño metodológico cuantitativo y cualitativo, obteniendo un cuerpo de 20 artículos. Los principales resultados obtenidos en los deportes practicados al aire libre aluden a que las actividades que más accidentes deportivos originan son las que se desarrollan en el ámbito natural, y que los practicantes más experimentados son los que sufren los accidentes más graves en deportes invernales. Finalmente, en los deportes de interior, se analizaron las modalidades más alternativas, sin embargo, no se pudieron establecer las causas y factores que se daban, debido a la modalidad de los deportes

    Analysis of the Psychometric Properties of the Motivation and Strategies of Learning Questionnaire—Short Form (MSLQ-SF) in Spanish Higher Education Students

    Background and methods: The aim of this research was to analyze the psychometric properties of the Motivation and Learning Strategies Questionnaire-Short Form (MSLQ-SF), using exploratory techniques with university students. The sample was formed by 597 participants aged between 19 and 28 years old (M = 23.04; SD = 3.71), with 156 (26.1%) being male and 441 (73.9%) being female. The exploratory factor analysis was conducted using the FACTOR program. Results: The results indicate that the questionnaire provides high reliability indexes to α = 0.70 for all included dimensions. The factor describing intrinsic orientation towards goal setting was removed following exploratory analysis, while other factors adjusted satisfactorily. All factors were correlated directly and positively (p < 0.01). Conclusions: It can be concluded that the MSLQ-SF fulfils the validity and reliability specifications for use with university students of social sciences and health sciences

    Motivación deportiva, adherencia a la dieta mediterránea y ocio digital. Un modelo explicativo en estudiantes de educación en función del sexo

    The motivation developed towards sport plays a key role in the adherence to a healthy dietary pattern, however, it also plays an important role towards digital entertainment. Taking this into account, the present study aims to develop an explanatory model of the incidence of sport motivation on adherence to a healthy dietary pattern and adherence to video games and to contrast the structural model by means of a multi-group analysis according to gender.  To this end, a cross-sectional descriptive comparative study was carried out with 1112 participants (25.09±6.22). The instruments used were a sociodemographic questionnaire, the Predimed questionnaire, the Perceived Motivational Climate in Sport Questionnaire (PMCSQ-2) and the Video Game Related Experiences Questionnaire (CERV). Finally, the results reveal that the female sex obtains a negative relationship between sport motivation and digital leisure, while the male sex reflects a negative relationship between task climate and adherence to the Mediterranean diet.La motivación desarrollada hacia el deporte juega un papel clave en la adherencia a un patrón dietético saludable, sin embargo, también juega un papel importante hacia el ocio digital. El presente estudio pretende desarrollar un modelo explicativo de la incidencia de la motivación hacia el deporte en la adherencia a un patrón dietético saludable y la adicción a los videojuegos y contrastar el modelo estructural mediante un análisis multigrupo en función del sexo de los participantes. Para ello se realizó un estudio descriptivo comparativo transversal con 1112 participantes (25,09±6,22). Los instrumentos utilizados fueron un cuestionario sociodemográfico, el cuestionario Predimed, el Cuestionario de Clima Motivacional Percibido en el Deporte (PMCSQ-2) y el Cuestionario de Experiencias Relacionadas con los Videojuegos (CERV). Finalmente, los resultados revelan que el sexo femenino obtiene una relación negativa entre la motivación deportiva y el ocio digital, mientras que el sexo masculino refleja una relación negativa entre el clima de tarea y la adherencia a la dieta mediterránea

    Physical activity constitutes one of the fundamental pillars for the correct physical and psychological development of human beings, especially in young people, since it represents an essential means for the prevention of pathologies and improvement of health. This cross-sectional and descriptive research was carried out in a sample of 261 children aged between 10 and 12 years old enrolled in schools in the province of Granada and the surrounding areas. The objectives presented are greatly significant in school age because they are the basis for the development of young people at an early age, with a focus on health and digital leisure habits associated with sedentary lifestyle. The results determined that cases of overweight in schoolchildren were scarce and that a significant number of young people practice physical exercise out of the school hours. As for video games, almost all children play them, although they have obtained minimum rates in terms of severe digital addiction problems. After assessing the association of these variables, it was possible to verify how these factors, generally recognized to have a huge impact on childhood obesity, are considered as the elements needing to be modified due to shift in leisure time in favor of physical activity and the innovations brought on active digital platforms oriented towards the combination of the "gamer" phenomenon and mobility.La actividad física constituye uno de los pilares fundamentales para el correcto desarrollo tanto físico como psicológico del ser humano, pero especialmente en los más jóvenes, ya que es considerada un medio esencial para la prevención de patologías y mejora de la salud. Esta investigación de tipo descriptivo y corte transversal se ha realizado en una muestra de 261 niños y niñas de entre 10 y 12 años, de colegios de la provincia de Granada y alrededores. Los objetivos planteados resultan de gran trascendencia en edad escolar ya que fundamentan la base principal del desarrollo de los jóvenes a edades tempranas en términos de salud y hábitos de ocio digital asociados al sedentarismo. Los resultados han determinado que los casos de sobrepeso en escolares eran escasos y que un importante número de jóvenes realiza práctica de ejercicio físico fuera del horario escolar. En cuanto a uso de videojuegos, casi la totalidad de los jóvenes tiene un hábito de consumo de ellos aunque se han obtenido índices mínimos en cuanto a problemática severa de adicción digital. Tras la asociación de estas variables se ha podido ver cómo estos factores normalmente generalizados como principales factores incidentes en la obesidad infantil, se están considerando como elementos a cambiar debido a los cambios producidos en los tiempos de ocio a favor de la actividad física y a las innovaciones llevadas a cabo en plataformas digitales activas orientadas a la combinación del fenómeno “gamer” y la movilidad

    Obesity and overweight have become one of the most important disorders nowadays. The onset of this type of disorder is due to the influence of factors such as unbalanced diet or lack of physical activity, factors that cause an increase in BMI in schoolchildren. This study was conducted on 161 schoolchildren of primary education, aged between 10 and 12 years old and belonging to the province of Granada. The aim is to analyze the relationship between physical activity parameters and diet quality with obesity levels. The results showed that participants were in a normal weight, whereas a low proportion of students presented a low-quality diet, with no significant differences by gender. On the other hand, the analysis of the data showed that males perform greater physical activity and therefore present less sedentary habits than females. In conclusion, the need to encourage students to carry out sports is demonstrated, especially in females. In addition, it is important to raise youth’s awareness on health consequences of sedentary habits and obesity.La obesidad y el sobrepeso se han convertido en uno de los trastornos más importantes de la actualidad. La aparición de este tipo de trastorno se debe a la influencia de factores como la dieta desequilibrada o la falta de actividad física, factores que provocan un aumento del IMC en escolares. Este estudio se realizó sobre 161 escolares de educación primaria, de edades comprendidas entre los 10 y 12 años y pertenecientes a la provincia de Granada. Se pretende analizar la relación existente entre los parámetros de la actividad física y la calidad de la dieta con los niveles de obesidad. Los resultados mostraron que la mayor parte de la población estudiada se encontraba dentro del normopeso y en una baja proporción los alumnos presentaban una dieta de baja calidad, sin haber diferencias significativas en cuanto al género. Por otra parte, el análisis de los datos mostró que el género masculino realiza mayor actividad física y por tanto presenta menos sedentarismo que el género femenino. Como conclusión, se demuestra la necesidad de motivar a la realización de deporte, sobre todo al género femenino, además de concienciar a los jóvenes de las consecuencias del sedentarismo y la obesidad
