    Limit Distribution of Convex-Hull Estimators of Boundaries

    Given n independent and identically distributed observations in a set G with an unknown function g, called a boundary or frontier, it is desired to estimate g from the observations. The problem has several important applications including classification and cluster analysis, and is closely related to edge estimation in image reconstruction. It is particularly important in econometrics. The convex-hull estimator of a boundary or frontier is very popular in econometrics, where it is a cornerstone of a method known as `data envelope analysis´ or DEA. In this paper we give a large sample approximation of the distribution of the convex-hull estimator in the general case where p>=1.     Asymptotic distribution of conical-hull estimators of directional edges

    Nonparametric data envelopment analysis (DEA) estimators have been widely applied in analysis of productive efficiency. Typically they are defined in terms of convex-hulls of the observed combinations of inputs×outputs\mathrm{inputs}\times\mathrm{outputs} in a sample of enterprises. The shape of the convex-hull relies on a hypothesis on the shape of the technology, defined as the boundary of the set of technically attainable points in the inputs×outputs\mathrm{inputs}\times\mathrm{outputs} space. So far, only the statistical properties of the smallest convex polyhedron enveloping the data points has been considered which corresponds to a situation where the technology presents variable returns-to-scale (VRS). This paper analyzes the case where the most common constant returns-to-scale (CRS) hypothesis is assumed. Here the DEA is defined as the smallest conical-hull with vertex at the origin enveloping the cloud of observed points. In this paper we determine the asymptotic properties of this estimator, showing that the rate of convergence is better than for the VRS estimator. We derive also its asymptotic sampling distribution with a practical way to simulate it. This allows to define a bias-corrected estimator and to build confidence intervals for the frontier.     Effects of Marine Microalgae (Schizochytrium sp.) in Prepared Feeds on Growth and Survival Rate of Juvenile Sea Cucumber Apostichopus japoncus

    A 60 day feeding experiment was conducted to evaluate the growth performance and survival rate of the sea cucumber Apostichopus japonicus fed on six experimental diets containing different inclusion level of Schizochytrium algae (0%, 2%, 4%, 6%, 8% and 10%) in a recirculating aquaculture system (RAS). After the feeding trial, survival was not significantly different among the dietary treatments. Results showed that diets affected the specific growth rate (SGR), ingestion rate (IR), faeces production rate (FPR) and food conversion efficiency (FCE) of sea cucumber. SGR of sea cucumber fed diet containing 6% Schizochytrium sp algae was significantly higher than that of sea cucumber fed the other diets (P < 0.05). The lowest IR and FPR was found when sea cucumber fed diets containing 10% Schizochytrium sp. Results of the experiment suggest that dietary inclusion with 6% Schizochytrium sp algae may improve growth of juvenile sea cucumber. Such detailed information could be helpful in further development of more appropriate diets for culture of sea cucumber

Com a finalidade de antecipar o vínculo entre futuros professores e a sala de aula da rede pública bem como tornar o ensino mais efetivo e prazeroso, desenvolvemos em nossa sequência a oralidade por meio do gênero música, uma vez que é um gênero presente no cotidiano do nosso público alvo.     <p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p>Second-generation drug-eluting stents (DES) have raised the bar of clinical performance. These stents are mostly made from cobalt chromium alloy. A newer generation DES has been developed from platinum chromium alloy, but clinical data regarding the efficacy and safety of the platinum chromium-based everolimus-eluting stent (PtCr-EES) is limited, with no comparison data against the cobalt chromium-based zotarolimus-eluting stent (CoCr-ZES). In addition, an antiplatelet regimen is an integral component of medical therapy after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). A 1-week duration of doubling the dose of clopidogrel (double-dose antiplatelet therapy (DDAT)) was shown to improve outcome at 1 month compared with conventional dose in acute coronary syndrome (ACS) patients undergoing PCI. However in Asia, including Korea, the addition of cilostazol (triplet antiplatelet therapy (TAT)) is used more commonly than doubling the dose of clopidogrel in high-risk patients.</p> <p>Methods</p> <p>In the 'Harmonizing Optimal Strategy for Treatment of coronary artery stenosis - sAfety & effectiveneSS of drug-elUting stents & antiplatelet REgimen' (HOST-ASSURE) trial, approximately 3,750 patients are being prospectively and randomly assigned in a 2 × 2 factorial design according to the type of stent (PtCr-EES vs CoCr-ZES) and antiplatelet regimen (TAT vs DDAT). The first primary endpoint is target lesion failure at 1 year for the stent comparison, and the second primary endpoint is net clinical outcome at 1 month for comparison of antiplatelet therapy regimen.</p> <p>Discussion</p> <p>The HOST-ASSURE trial is the largest study yet performed to directly compare the efficacy and safety of the PtCr-EES versus CoCr-ZES in an 'all-comers' population. In addition, this study will also compare the clinical outcome of TAT versus DDAT for 1-month post PCI.</p> <p>Trial registration</p> <p>ClincalTrials.gov number <a href="http://www.clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT01267734">NCT01267734</a>.</p
