The protein content in the muscles, liver and gonad of Ratrelliger kanagurta from Sakhri-Natye fish landing centre at Ratnagiri district coast was studies from Within Potential Fishing Zone (PFZ) and Outside PFZ. The protein study analyzed that winter and summer season. the protein content was increased in male muscle than female muscle, gonad and liver respectively within PFZ than outside PFZ. The protein contents in the body muscle, liver and gonad of Rastrelliger kanagurta (Cuvier) were investigated. The compositions varied seasonally in relation to reproductive cycle of the fish. The study also showed that protein was high in the muscles and gonads and in liver from within PFZ than outside PFZ in female and male

In the present study, the destruction of the basement membrane of the hepatic tubules and cell surface of the digestive cells after cadmium exposure probably caused disfunction of the surface receptors resulting in the disturbance of the lysosomal system functioning

General consideration of Pakshaghata and its management using natural medicine and Ayurveda principles

    Get PDF
Pakshaghata (Hemiplegia) is one of the most common causes of death especially in elder age group. Pakshaghata mainly occurs due to the obstruction of cerebral blood vessels, ischemia, and lack of glucose metabolism and weakness of nerve cell. Loss of movement, sensory deficit, dysarthria, atrophy, stiffness and disturbed nerve impulses are the major symptoms of disease. Ayurveda offers various treatment modalities for the management of Pakshaghata such as; use of herbs & formulation, yoga and Shodhana Chikitsa. Present article described various approaches of ayurveda for the management of Pakshaghata including natural herbs and Shodhana Chikitsa

COMPREHENSIVE CARDIAC ASSESSMENT IN ACUTE ISCHEMIC STROKE PATIENTS: INTEGRATING ELECTROCARDIOGRAM AND 2-DIMENSIONAL TRANSTHORACIC ECHOCARDIOGRAPHY FOR ENHANCED DIAGNOSIS AND RISK STRATIFICATION

Acute ischemic stroke continues to be one of the top causes of death worldwide, necessitating precise diagnostic techniques for effective treatment. Due to the lack of precise markers, clinical distinction of stroke subtypes is currently difficult. Integrating cutting-edge imaging methods like 2-Dimensional Transthoracic Echocardiography (2D TTE) and Electrocardiogram (ECG) could yield insightful results. Materials and Methodology: In the prospective observational study, we looked at 2D TTE and ECG changes in 96 patients who had an acute ischemic stroke. Within 72 hours of admission, patients were evaluated, with an emphasis on 2D TTE findings (normal, left ventricular dysfunction, mitral valve abnormalities, and aortic valve abnormalities) and ECG abnormalities. Results: T wave inversion (30.2%), ST-segment depression (38.5%), and U waves (53.1%), among other ECG anomalies, were among the numerous. 44.8% of the cases with 2D TTE were normal, 34.3% had left ventricular dysfunction, and 14.5% had defective mitral valves. Across age categories, notable ECG and 2D TTE findings were seen, highlighting the value of thorough evaluations. Conclusion: Combining 2D TTE and the ECG to diagnose acute ischemic stroke can reveal subtle cardiac involvement. These techniques support risk classification and subtype identification, particularly with relation to ASCVD risk factors. For accurate risk assessment and customized treatment options, routine ECG and 2D TTE evaluation is essentia

Reproduction in edible bivalve shellfishes of Ratnagiri Coast

Clams, oysters and mussels are regularly fished and marketed at different places in Ratnagiri district throughout year, rarely in peak of monsoon. The annual reproductive cycles of three species of edible clams Paphia laterisulca, Katelysia opima and Meretrix meretrix, the oysters Saccostrea cucullata and C. grypholdes and the green mussel Perna virldis of the Ratnagiri coast have been studied. Maximum gonad index occurs during June-August and November-February in P. laterisulca, June-September and January-February In K. opima and February-August In M. meretrix. The histological studies revealed spawning m P. laterisulca during mid September-Match with two peaks • once in October-November and another In February-March. Spawning in K. opima occurs during October-November and March-April. M. meretrix spawns only during October-November. S. cucullata spawns during October-January, and C, grypholdes during October-November. P. virldis spawns during late July-early September. The difference In such spawning periods of these shellfishes have be°n attributed to the change* In salinities in the respective habitats with the secondary cffecta of temperature on the gonads- The results are discussed in the light of species adjustment to the fluctuating environment and biochemical-phyiiology

    Neuroendocrine regulation in Lamellibranch molluscs

    Get PDF
Gametogenesis and spawning in lamellibranch molluscs may be controlled by either exogenous or endogenous factors. Though the factors like salinity or temperature in such studies have been widely elaborated by various workers, the endogenous regulation stilt remains in its infancy. Our experimental studies, based on the classic histological staining of the neurosecretory material, have revealed neurosecretory cells in the central ganglia of lamellibranch molluscs. The tinctorial properties of these cells may vary from species to species. The pyriform (pear-shaped) neurosecretory cells from cerebral ganglia revealed such endogenous regulation system affecting the release of sex products. There exists four successive stages in the passage of neurosecretory product within the sell body- This has been extensively worked out in case of Perna from Ratnagiri coast. The data have been correlated with the gonad maturation stages and spawning

Degradation of Textile Dye Reactive Navy – Blue Rx (Reactive blue–59) by an Isolated Actinomycete Streptomyces krainskii SUK – 5

The isolated Actinomycete, Streptomyces krainskii, SUK -5 was found to decolorize and degrade textile dye Reactive blue–59.This azo dye was decolorized and degraded completely by Streptomyces krainskii SUK–5 at 24 h in shaking condition in the nutrient medium at pH 8. Induction in the activity of Lignin Peroxidase, and NADH-DCIP Reductase and MR reductase represents their role in degradation .The biodegradation was monitored by TLC, UV vis spectroscopy, FTIR. and GCMS analysis. Microbial and phytotoxicity studies of the product were carried out

Higher excitations of ω\omega and ϕ\phi in dilepton spectra

We consider lepton pair production via two-hadron annihilation through various isoscalar vector mesons within hot, baryon-free matter. This is tantamount to constructing effective form factors which we model using a vector-meson-dominance approach and compare with experiment. In particular, we consider the reactions πρe+e\pi\rho\to e^+e^- and KˉK(892)\bar K K^{*}(892) + c.c. e+e\to e^+e^-. We find that ω(1390)\omega(1390) and ϕ(1680)\phi(1680) are visible in the mass spectrum for the thermal production rate above the π+πe+e\pi^{+}\pi^{-} \to e^+e^- tail and even above the πa1e+e\pi a_{1}\to e^+e^- results---both of which were considered important in their respective mass regions.Comment: RevTeX, 9 pages, 6 (uuencoded) figures; to appear in Phys.
