Distance Product of Graphs
In graph theory, different types of product of two graphs have been studied, e.g. Cartesian product, Tensor product, Strong product, etc. Later on, Cartesian product and Tensor product have been generalized by 2-Cartesian product and 2-Tensor product. In this paper, we give one more generalize form, distance product of two graphs. Mainly we discuss the connectedness, bipartiteness and Eulerian property in this product
Let's Twist Again: General Metrics of G(2) Holonomy from Gauged Supergravity
We construct all complete metrics of cohomogeneity one G(2) holonomy with S^3
x S^3 principal orbits from gauged supergravity. Our approach rests on a
generalization of the twisting procedure used in this framework. It corresponds
to a non-trivial embedding of the special Lagrangian three-cycle wrapped by the
D6-branes in the lower dimensional supergravity. There are constraints that
neatly reduce the general ansatz to a six functions one. Within this approach,
the Hitchin system and the flop transformation are nicely realized in eight
dimensional gauged supergravity.Comment: 31 pages, latex; v2: minor changes, references adde
Branes with fluxes wrapped on spheres
Following an eight-dimensional gauged supergravity approach we construct the
most general solution describing D6-branes wrapped on a Kahler four-cycle taken
to be the product of two spheres of different radii. Our solution interpolates
between a Calabi-Yau four-fold and the spaces S^2xS^2xS^2xR^2 or S^2xS^2xR^4,
depending on generic choices for the parameters. Then we turn on a background
four-form field strength, corresponding to D2-branes, and show explicitly how
our solution is deformed. For a particular choice of parameters it represents a
flow from a Calabi-Yau four-fold times the three-dimensional Minkowski
space-time in the ultraviolet, to the space-time AdS_4xQ^{1,1,1} in the
infrared. In general, the solution in the infrared has a singularity which
within type-IIA supergravity corresponds to the near horizon geometry of the
solution for the D2-D6 system. Finally, we uncover the relation with work done
in the eighties on Freund-Rubin type compactifications.Comment: 15 pages, Late
Quality engineering of a traction alternator by robust design
Robust design is an engineering methodology for improving productivity during research and development so that high-quality products can be developed and produced quickly and at low cost. A large electrical company was developing traction alternators for a diesel electrical engine. Customer requirement was to obtain very high efficiency which, in turn, was influenced by several design parameters. The usual approach of the 'design-build-test' cycle was considered time-consuming and costly; it used to take anywhere from 4 months to 1 year before finalizing the product design parameters as it involved physical assembly and also testing. Instead, the authors used Taguchi's parameter design approach. This approach took about 8 weeks to arrive at optimum design parameter values; clearly demonstrating the cutting edge of this methodology over the traditional design-build-test approach. The prototype built and tested accordingly gave satisfactory overall performance, meeting and even exceeding customer requirements
RECOMED: A Comprehensive Pharmaceutical Recommendation System
A comprehensive pharmaceutical recommendation system was designed based on
the patients and drugs features extracted from Drugs.com and Druglib.com.
First, data from these databases were combined, and a dataset of patients and
drug information was built. Secondly, the patients and drugs were clustered,
and then the recommendation was performed using different ratings provided by
patients, and importantly by the knowledge obtained from patients and drug
specifications, and considering drug interactions. To the best of our
knowledge, we are the first group to consider patients conditions and history
in the proposed approach for selecting a specific medicine appropriate for that
particular user. Our approach applies artificial intelligence (AI) models for
the implementation. Sentiment analysis using natural language processing
approaches is employed in pre-processing along with neural network-based
methods and recommender system algorithms for modeling the system. In our work,
patients conditions and drugs features are used for making two models based on
matrix factorization. Then we used drug interaction to filter drugs with severe
or mild interactions with other drugs. We developed a deep learning model for
recommending drugs by using data from 2304 patients as a training set, and then
we used data from 660 patients as our validation set. After that, we used
knowledge from critical information about drugs and combined the outcome of the
model into a knowledge-based system with the rules obtained from constraints on
taking medicine.Comment: 39 pages, 14 figures, 13 table
Glueballs of Super Yang-Mills from Wrapped Branes
In this paper we study qualitative features of glueballs in N=1 SYM for
models of wrapped branes in IIA and IIB backgrounds. The scalar mode, 0++ is
found to be a mixture of the dilaton and the internal part of the metric. We
carry out the numerical study of the IIB background. The potential found
exhibits a mass gap and produces a discrete spectrum without any cut-off. We
propose a regularization procedure needed to make these states normalizable.Comment: 22 pages plus a appendixes, 2 figure
Automated Glaucoma Detection Using Hybrid Feature Extraction in Retinal Fundus Images
Glaucoma is one of the most common causes of blindness. Robust mass screening may help to extend the symptom-free life for affected patients. To realize mass screening requires a cost-effective glaucoma detection method which integrates well with digital medical and administrative processes. To address these requirements, we propose a novel low cost automated glaucoma diagnosis system based on hybrid feature extraction from digital fundus images. The paper discusses a system for the automated identification of normal and glaucoma classes using higher order spectra (HOS), trace transform (TT), and discrete wavelet transform (DWT) features. The extracted features are fed to a support vector machine (SVM) classifier with linear, polynomial order 1, 2, 3 and radial basis function (RBF) in order to select the best kernel for automated decision making. In this work, the SVM classifier, with a polynomial order 2 kernel function, was able to identify glaucoma and normal images with an accuracy of 91.67%, and sensitivity and specificity of 90% and 93.33%, respectively. Furthermore, we propose a novel integrated index called Glaucoma Risk Index (GRI) which is composed from HOS, TT, and DWT features, to diagnose the unknown class using a single feature. We hope that this GRI will aid clinicians to make a faster glaucoma diagnosis during the mass screening of normal/glaucoma images
Sparticle mass spectra from SU(5) SUSY GUT models with Yukawa coupling unification
Supersymmetric grand unified models based on the gauge group SU(5) often
require in addition to gauge coupling unification, the unification of b-quark
and -lepton Yukawa couplings. We examine SU(5) SUSY GUT parameter space
under the condition of Yukawa coupling unification using 2-loop MSSM
RGEs including full 1-loop threshold effects. The Yukawa-unified solutions
break down into two classes. Solutions with low tan\beta ~3-11 are
characterized by gluino mass ~1-4 TeV and squark mass ~1-5 TeV. Many of these
solutions would be beyond LHC reach, although they contain a light Higgs scalar
with mass <123 GeV and so may be excluded should the LHC Higgs hint persist.
The second class of solutions occurs at large tan\beta ~35-60, and are a subset
of unified solutions. Constraining only unification to ~5%
favors a rather light gluino with mass ~0.5-2 TeV, which should ultimately be
accessible to LHC searches. While our unified solutions can be
consistent with a picture of neutralino-only cold dark matter, invoking
additional moduli or Peccei-Quinn superfields can allow for all of our
Yukawa-unified solutions to be consistent with the measured dark matter
abundance.Comment: 19 pages, 5 figures, 1 table, PDFLate
Neutralino dark matter in mSUGRA/CMSSM with a 125 GeV light Higgs scalar
The minimal supergravity (mSUGRA or CMSSM) model is an oft-used framework for
exhibiting the properties of neutralino (WIMP) cold dark matter (CDM). However,
the recent evidence from Atlas and CMS on a light Higgs scalar with mass
m_h\simeq 125 GeV highly constrains the superparticle mass spectrum, which in
turn constrains the neutralino annihilation mechanisms in the early universe.
We find that stau and stop co-annihilation mechanisms -- already highly
stressed by the latest Atlas/CMS results on SUSY searches -- are nearly
eliminated if indeed the light Higgs scalar has mass m_h\simeq 125 GeV.
Furthermore, neutralino annihilation via the A-resonance is essentially ruled
out in mSUGRA so that it is exceedingly difficult to generate
thermally-produced neutralino-only dark matter at the measured abundance. The
remaining possibility lies in the focus-point region which now moves out to
m_0\sim 10-20 TeV range due to the required large trilinear soft SUSY breaking
term A_0. The remaining HB/FP region is more fine-tuned than before owing to
the typically large top squark masses. We present updated direct and indirect
detection rates for neutralino dark matter, and show that ton scale noble
liquid detectors will either discover mixed higgsino CDM or essentially rule
out thermally-produced neutralino-only CDM in the mSUGRA model.Comment: 17 pages including 9 .eps figure
Active Galactic Nuclei under the scrutiny of CTA
Active Galactic Nuclei (hereafter AGN) produce powerful outflows which offer
excellent conditions for efficient particle acceleration in internal and
external shocks, turbulence, and magnetic reconnection events. The jets as well
as particle accelerating regions close to the supermassive black holes
(hereafter SMBH) at the intersection of plasma inflows and outflows, can
produce readily detectable very high energy gamma-ray emission. As of now, more
than 45 AGN including 41 blazars and 4 radiogalaxies have been detected by the
present ground-based gamma-ray telescopes, which represents more than one third
of the cosmic sources detected so far in the VHE gamma-ray regime. The future
Cherenkov Telescope Array (CTA) should boost the sample of AGN detected in the
VHE range by about one order of magnitude, shedding new light on AGN population
studies, and AGN classification and unification schemes. CTA will be a unique
tool to scrutinize the extreme high-energy tail of accelerated particles in
SMBH environments, to revisit the central engines and their associated
relativistic jets, and to study the particle acceleration and emission
mechanisms, particularly exploring the missing link between accretion physics,
SMBH magnetospheres and jet formation. Monitoring of distant AGN will be an
extremely rewarding observing program which will inform us about the inner
workings and evolution of AGN. Furthermore these AGN are bright beacons of
gamma-rays which will allow us to constrain the extragalactic infrared and
optical backgrounds as well as the intergalactic magnetic field, and will
enable tests of quantum gravity and other "exotic" phenomena.Comment: 28 pages, 23 figure
