Seagrass beds play an essential role in mitigating climate change by absorbing CO2 from the atmosphere and converting carbon into biomass through photosynthesis. We used remote sensing and GIS technology with field survey data to establish the distribution and above-ground dry biomass maps of seagrass beds in 2021. A Landsat 8 OLI satellite image was used in the interpretation process. An above-ground dry biomass map was established by building the regression function between the above-ground dry biomass and the reflectance spectrum of the image bands. The overall accuracy and the Kappa coefficient of the classification process were 95.5% and 0.94. At Lang Co Lagoon, the seagrass bed area in 2021 was about 36.18 ha, distributed primarily in the area between Lang Co Town and the north of the lagoon; and scattered in the north of the lagoon, Hoi Can, Hoi Dua, and Hoi Mit. In addition, the total carbon stock of seagrasses in Lang Co Lagoon was estimated at 5.54 tons, equivalent to 20.32 tons of CO2, in which the contribution of Halodule uninervis accounted for 61% of the total carbon stock.

This paper proposes a second order sliding mode controller combined with signal set calibrator for overhead crane tracking desired position and resisting disturbance. High order sliding mode controller ensures that the overhead crane tracks desired trajectory and resists disturbance. Neural network is trained by particle swarm optimization algorithm (PSO) to compensate anti-sway for load. The results on the computer simulation show that high order sliding mode controller with anti-sway compensation for overhead crane tracks desired trajectory and the swing of load that is smaller than high order sliding mode controller without anti-sway compensation

Background: Uncontrolled blood pressure is a major risk factor for cardiovascular diseases. Fixed-dose combination (FDC) therapy offers a promising approach to addressing this challenge by providing a convenient single-tablet solution that enhances the effectiveness of blood pressure control. In our systematic review, we assess the effectiveness of perindopril/amlodipine FDC in managing blood pressure. Methods: We conducted a comprehensive search across four primary electronic databases, namely, PubMed, Virtual Health Library (VHL), Global Health Library (GHL), and Google Scholar, as of 8 February 2022. Additionally, we performed a manual search to find relevant articles. The quality of the selected articles was evaluated using the Study Quality Assessment Tools (SQAT) checklist from the National Institute of Health and the ROB2 tool from Cochrane. Results: Our systematic review included 17 eligible articles. The findings show that the use of perindopril/amlodipine FDC significantly lowers blood pressure and enhances the quality of blood pressure control. Compared to the comparison group, the perindopril/amlodipine combination tablet resulted in a higher rate of blood pressure response and normalization. Importantly, perindopril/amlodipine FDC contributes to improved patient adherence with minimal side effects. However, studies conducted to date have not provided assessments of the cost-effectiveness of perindopril/amlodipine FDC.Conclusion: In summary, our analysis confirms the effectiveness of perindopril/amlodipine FDC in lowering blood pressure, with combination therapy outperforming monotherapy and placebo. Although mild adverse reactions were observed in a small subset of participants, cost-effectiveness assessments for this treatment remain lacking in the literature

This paper reports the synthesis of K0.5Na0.5NbO3 (KNN) ceramics by using an improved conventional method. The influence of sintering temperatures of the fabricated ceramics on the piezoelectric and dielectric properties was studied. It was found that density increases greatly within a narrow temperature range, and reaches the highest value of 4.2 g/cm3 at 1090 °C, corresponding to a dense microstructure with the tetragonal grain shape. However, when sintering temperature slightly exceeds the optimal one, the density tends to decrease, accompanied by the appearance of abnormal grain growth, which is considered to be due to the intensified volatilization of alkali metal oxides. At a sintering temperature of 1090 °C, the highest values of electromechanical coupling factor (kp) and the piezoelectric coefficient (d33) of the ceramics being 0.22 and 61 pC/N, respectively, may be related to homogenous grains size of orthorhombic phase.Hệ gốm K0,5Na0,5NbO3 (KNN) được chế tạo thành công bằng phương pháp phản ứng pha rắn.

Quantifying biomass and canopy cover of submerged aquatic vegetation on an offshore island

International audienceThe coverage and biomass of submerged aquatic vegetation (SAV) are vital characteristics of marine resourcemanagement and development. However, using in situ measurements to assess the distributionand biomass of SAV is challenging because SAV distribution varies with biomass, substrate type, anddepth, making it difficult to monitor. Satellite remote sensing is an advanced tool that can tackle thisproblem. In this study, several techniques, such as atmospheric correction, water column correction, and supervised classification, were integrated with Landsat-8 images to map SAV distribution on anoffshore island in Viet Nam, Ly Son island. The substrate-classifying result had high accuracy (OA =92.6%, K = 0.9 ). The coastal, blue, and green bands of Landsat-8 were used to estimate the SAVbiomass using a polynomial regression (RMSE = ±1440.6 g fresh m−2, R2 = 0.71). The results showedthat the total fresh biomass of SAV in Ly Son island is 14551.04 tonnes, with a corresponding areaof 332.1 hectares, equivalent to an average biomass of 4381.5 ± 1440.6 g fresh m−2. The distributionand biomass maps of SAV produced in this study could be used as input to measure the attributes ofSAV biodiversity, contributing more effectively to monitoring marine ecosystems in Viet Nam

Synergy of indium doping and hydrogenation for good-performance and high-mobility ZnO electrode films

    No full text
We successfully synthesized hydrogenated In-doped ZnO films with a low resistivity of 5 × 10−4 Ωcm and a good transmittance of 80% in the visible region. Furthermore, the electron mobility of the films achieves as high as 45.6 cm2/Vs, which is enhanced by more than 100% compared to the singly In-doped ZnO (IZO) and pristine ZnO films. The analysis of temperature-dependent mobility indicates lattice scattering as the dominant mechanism disturbing carrier transport in the hydrogenated film. According to the Drude model theory, the optical carrier concentration and mobility determined from plasma wavelength also exhibit a significant role of lattice defects. As a result, the reduction in lattice defects is demonstrated to remarkably enhance the mobility and transparent-conducting performance of the hydrogenated IZO films. Specifically, hydrogen passivation and compensation of indium doping significantly decrease Zn-related defects (vacancy and interstitial) as carrier traps and scattering centers in the films

Background: Biomarker testing has gradually become standard of care in precision oncology to help physicians select optimal treatment for patients. Compared to single-gene or small gene panel testing, comprehensive genomic profiling (CGP) has emerged as a more time- and tissue-efficient method. This study demonstrated in-depth analytical validation of K-4CARE, a CGP assay that integrates circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) tracking for residual cancer surveillance. Methods: The assay utilized a panel of 473 cancer-relevant genes with a total length of 1.7 Mb. Reference standards were used to evaluate limit of detection (LOD), concordance, sensitivity, specificity and precision of the assay to detect single nucleotide variants (SNVs), small insertion/deletions (Indels), gene amplification and fusion, microsatellite instability (MSI) and tumor mutational burden (TMB). The assay was then benchmarked against orthogonal methods using 155 clinical samples from 10 cancer types. In selected cancers, top tumor-derived somatic mutations, as ranked by our proprietary algorithm, were used to detect ctDNA in the plasma. Results: For detection of somatic SNVs and Indels, gene fusion and amplification, the assay had sensitivity of >99%, 94% and >99% respectively, and specificity of >99%. Detection of germline variants also achieved sensitivity and specificity of >99%. For TMB measurement, the correlation coefficient between whole-exome sequencing and our targeted panel was 97%. MSI analysis when benchmarked against polymerase chain reaction method showed sensitivity of 94% and specificity of >99%. The concordance between our assay and the TruSight Oncology 500 assay for detection of somatic variants, TMB and MSI measurement was 100%, 89%, and 98% respectively. When CGP-informed mutations were used to personalize ctDNA tracking, the detection rate of ctDNA in liquid biopsy was 79%, and clinical utility in cancer surveillance was demonstrated in 2 case studies. Conclusion: K-4CARE™ assay provides comprehensive and reliable genomic information that fulfills all guideline-based biomarker testing for both targeted therapy and immunotherapy. Integration of ctDNA tracking helps clinicians to further monitor treatment response and ultimately provide well-rounded care to cancer patients.</p

An observational study of breakthrough SARS-CoV-2 Delta variant infections among vaccinated healthcare workers in Vietnam

    No full text
Background Data on breakthrough SARS-CoV-2 Delta variant infections in vaccinated individuals are limited. Methods We studied breakthrough infections among Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccinated healthcare workers in an infectious diseases hospital in Vietnam. We collected demographic and clinical data alongside serial PCR testing, measurement of SARS-CoV-2 antibodies, and viral whole-genome sequencing. Findings Between 11th–25th June 2021 (7-8 weeks after the second dose), 69 staff tested positive for SARS-CoV-2. 62 participated in the study. Most were asymptomatic or mildly symptomatic and all recovered. Twenty-two complete-genome sequences were obtained; all were Delta variant and were phylogenetically distinct from contemporary viruses obtained from the community or from hospital patients admitted prior to the outbreak. Viral loads inferred from Ct values were 251 times higher than in cases infected with the original strain in March/April 2020. Median time from diagnosis to negative PCR was 21 days (range 8–33). Neutralizing antibodies (expressed as percentage of inhibition) measured after the second vaccine dose, or at diagnosis, were lower in cases than in uninfected, fully vaccinated controls (median (IQR): 69.4 (50.7-89.1) vs. 91.3 (79.6-94.9), p=0.005 and 59.4 (32.5-73.1) vs. 91.1 (77.3-94.2), p=0.043). There was no correlation between vaccine-induced neutralizing antibody levels and peak viral loads or the development of symptoms. Interpretation Breakthrough Delta variant infections following Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccination may cause asymptomatic or mild disease, but are associated with high viral loads, prolonged PCR positivity and low levels of vaccine-induced neutralizing antibodies. Epidemiological and sequence data suggested ongoing transmission had occurred between fully vaccinated individuals
