OBJECTIVES: In light of the increasing number of high-tech industry workers and the differences in their working conditions compared to those of the general population, the health status of these workers merits serious attention. This study aimed to explore the prevalence of metabolic syndrome and its correlates among Taiwanese high-tech industry workers. METHODS: This cross-sectional study included 4,666 workers who participated in labor health examinations at a hospital in southern Taiwan in 2008. Participants with metabolic syndrome were defined using the criteria proposed by the Taiwan National Department of Health in 2007. Factors associated with metabolic syndrome were determined using multiple logistic regression analysis. RESULTS: The overall prevalence of metabolic syndrome was 8.2%, and the prevalence was higher in men than in women (14.0% vs. 2.3%,

NMSSM neutralino dark matter for WW-boson mass and muon g−2g-2 and the promising prospect of direct detection

Two experiments from the Fermilab, E989 and CDF II, have reported two anomalies for muon anomalous magnetic moment (gg-2) and WW-boson mass that may indicate the new physics at the low energy scale. Here we examine the possibility of a common origin of these two anomalies in the Next-to-Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model. Considering various experimental and astrophysical constraints such as the Higgs mass, collider data, B-physics, dark matter relic density and direct detection experiments, we find that a neutralino in the mass range of ∼160−270\sim 160-270 GeV is a viable solution. Moreover, the favored parameter region can be effectively probed by the ongoing direct detection experiments like LZ, PandaX-4T and XENON-nT. The velocity averaged annihilation cross section of the dark matter particles, however, is suppressed.Comment: 14 pages, 6 figure

AbstractThe purpose of this thesis is to design and analysis of passive pitch control. Design a mechanics to control different revolution of blade's pitch angle. The use of small wind turbines gradually popularization, but how to overcome the low wind speed start-up and the operation under high wind speed, that is the difficult problems encountered by designers. In order to extend the use and the safe of wind speed, this design is required. This paper is focus on the mechanism design of the passive pitch control for the small horizontal axis wind turbine (HAWT). When the wind speed is fast, the rotation speed is also faster and faster. The system uses centrifugal force to make Pulley disk driven the pitch angle of the blade. It can achieve the effect of passive pitch control. The mechanism is our laboratory's patent. Through the experiments in wind tunnel, it can be observed the variation of the performance curve when the pitch rotation. This system not only successfully operates under high wind speed but also has better performance at low wind speed
