    Particle spectrum in modified NMSSM

    Get PDF
The restrictions on the lightest Higgs boson mass in the minimal supersymmetric models are briefly reviewed. The particle spectrum is considered in the framework of the simplest modification of NMSSM that allows to avoid the domain wall problem and to get the self--consistent solution in the strong Yukawa coupling limit. The lightest Higgs boson mass in the investigated model can reach 125GeV125 GeV at values of tanβ1.9\tan\beta\ge 1.9 and does not exceed 130.5±3.5GeV130.5\pm 3.5 GeV.Comment: 4 pages, LaTeX2e. Quasi-fixed point scenario in the modified NMSSM

    Get PDF
The simplest extension of the MSSM that does not contradict LEP II experimental bound on the lightest Higgs boson mass at tanβ1\tan\beta\sim 1 is the modified Next-to-Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MNSSM). We investigate the renormalization of Yukawa couplings and soft SUSY breaking terms in this model. The possibility of bb-quark and τ\tau-lepton Yukawa coupling unification at the Grand Unification scale MXM_X is studied. The particle spectrum is analysed in the vicinity of the quasi-fixed point where the solutions of renormalization group equations are concentrated at the electroweak scale.Comment: 19 pages, 3 figures, LaTeX2

Nucleon matrix elements and baryon masses in the Dirac orbital model

    Get PDF
Using the expansion of the baryon wave function in a series of products of single quark bispinors (Dirac orbitals), the nonsinglet axial and tensor charges of a nucleon are calculated. The leading term yields gA=1.27g_A = 1.27 in good agreement with experiment. Calculation is essentially parameter-free and depends only on the strong coupling constant value αs\alpha_s. The importance of lower Dirac bispinor component, yielding 18% to the wave function normalization is stressed. As a check, the baryon decuplet masses in the formalism of this model are also computed using standard values of the string tension σ\sigma and the strange quark mass msm_s; the results being in a good agreement with experiment.Comment: 8 pages, 2 tables; LaTeX2

    Pentaquarks in the Jaffe-Wilczek approximation

The masses of uuddsˉuudd\bar s , uudddˉuudd\bar d and uussdˉuuss\bar d pentaquarks are evaluated in a framework of both the Effective Hamiltonian approach to QCD and spinless Salpeter using the Jaffe--Wilczek diquark approximation and the string interaction for the diquark--diquark--antiquark system. The pentaquark masses are found to be in the region above 2 GeV. That indicates that the Goldstone boson exchange effects may play an important role in the light pentaquarks. The same calculations yield the mass of [ud]2cˉ[ud]^2\bar c pentaquark \sim 3250 MeV and [ud]2bˉ[ud]^2\bar b pentaquark \sim 6509 MeV.Comment: 14 pages, 2 tables, LaTeX2e. References correcte

Plant polyprenols reduce demyelination and recover impaired oligodendrogenesis and neurogenesis in the cuprizone murine model of multiple sclerosis

Recent studies showed hepatoprotective, neuroprotective, and immunomodulatory properties of polyprenols isolated from the green verdure of Picea abies (L.) Karst. This study aimed to investigate effects of polyprenols on oligodendrogenesis, neurogenesis, and myelin content in the cuprizone demyelination model. Demyelination was induced by 0.5% cuprizone in CD-1 mice during 10 weeks. Nine cuprizone-treated animals received daily injections of polyprenols intraperitoneally at a dose of 12-mg/kg body weight during Weeks 6-10. Nine control animals and other nine cuprizone-treated received sham oil injections. At Week 10, brain sections were stained for myelin basic protein, neuro-glial antigen-2, and doublecortin to evaluate demyelination, oligodendrogenesis, and neurogenesis. Cuprizone administration caused a decrease in myelin basic protein in the corpus callosum, cortex, hippocampus, and the caudate putamen compared with the controls. Oligodendrogenesis was increased, and neurogenesis in the subventricular zone and the dentate gyrus of the hippocampus was decreased in the cuprizone-treated group compared with the controls. Mice treated with cuprizone and polyprenols did not show significant demyelination and differences in oligodendrogenesis and neurogenesis as compared with the controls. Our results suggest that polyprenols can halt demyelination, restore impaired neurogenesis, and mitigate reactive overproduction of oligodendrocytes caused by cuprizone neurotoxicity
