Atualmente, como no passado, varios fatores afetam de forma significativa a expansao da heveicultura e o desenvolvimento da seringueira no Brasil, desde a fase de viveiro ate a manutencao dos seringais em producao. As condicoes de umidade e temperatura da regiao sao extremamente favoraveis ao desenvolvimento de varios agentes patogenicos da seringueira. Predictive models for managing financial incentives oriented to companies: Application to Portugal 2020

Since Portugal joined the European Union (EU) that it has been receiving incentives/funds to reduce disparities with other EU countries. Despite this goal, disparities between European regions still exist and the impact of such funds is questionable. What if it is possible to predict the success of such incentives when the funds are awarded to the beneficiaries? Using data from the database of The Agency for Competitiveness and Innovation (IAPMEI), for the programs National Strategic Reference Framework (QREN), and Portugal 2020, two predictive models are developed to estimate the number of applications to be received and the schedule of expected payments to beneficiaries for a four-month period. Single puncture approach guided by transesophageal echocardiography for atrial fibrillation ablation in a patient with prior percutaneous septal closure: case report

Background: Atrial septal defect (ASD) is associated with a risk of developing atrial fibrillation (AF) higher than in the general population, even after percutaneous or surgical septal closure. Catheter ablation is an effective treatment strategy for preventing recurrences and reducing the AF burden. However, electrophysiologists are faced with technical difficulties and the risk of complications with the left atrium access in patients with prior ASD percutaneous closure. Case summary: We report a case of a patient with highly symptomatic paroxysmal AF, with an ASD, closed percutaneously many years before, who underwent a successful catheter AF ablation, using a single transeptal (TSP) approach guided by transesophageal echocardiography (TEE). Discussion: In patients with ASD and an occluder device implanted, there is a potential risk for septal tear during the TSP passage, device dislodgement, or thrombus formation on the device. Atrial fibrillation ablation in this subset of patients has often been protracted and scarcely reported. TEE and intra-cardiac echocardiography have been increasingly used for interventional procedure guidance during AF ablation. Electron Beam Adjustment in PLATO RTS 2 Including the Effect of Air Gaps

Background and Purpose: Beam characterization for electron dose calculations in PLATO RTS 2 treatment planning system requires the tuning of two adjustment parameters: sqx (the initial angular spread) and FMCS (a "fudge" multiple Coulomb scattering parameter). This work provides a set of suggestions to optimise electron dose calculations with PLATO, taking into account the effect of air gaps between the electron applicator and the patient skin. Material and Methods: Two adjustment criteria have been followed: one which uses just one input data set corresponding to the standard (null) air gap and another one that takes into account the whole range of clinically used distances between the electron applicator and the patient surface. The adjusted values of sqx were compared with experimental data and GEANT3 Monte Carlo code results. A systematic study has been carried out of the effect of both adjustment parameters on electron dose calculations in water. Comparisons of dose distributions and point dose values have been done between PLATO RTS2, GEANT3 Monte Carlo code and experimental data. Also the dependence on field size has been assessed. The values of sqx for the different electron energies obtained through the different approaches are discussed. Results and conclusions: The first adjustment criteria yield unrealistic dose distributions whenever the air gap is different from the standard one. A sqx balanced with a proper FMCS parameter leads to reasonably good dose distributions and point dose values that agree with experimental results within less than 1%

Fitoquímica de duas espécies do gênero Jatropha.

O gênero Jatropha L. é constituído por 175 espécies tropicais e subtropicais está inserido na família Euphorbiaceae, onde muitas espécies apresentam grande potencial químico e biológico por serem ricas em estruturas químicas e com atividades biológicas e farmacêuticas. O trabalho teve como objetivo a análise fitoquímica de folhas de Jatropha gossypifolia L. e Jatropha curcas L. e comparação entre as mesmas, ambas cultivadas na coleção do Horto de Plantas Medicinais da Embrapa Amazônia Oriental. As avaliações fitoquímicas visando à identificação das substâncias químicas presentes nas espécies tais como: Ácidos orgânicos, Açúcares redutores, Alcalóides, Antraquinonas, Azulenos, Carotenóides, Catequinas, Depsídeos e Depsidonas, Derivados de benzoquinas, Derivados da cumarina, Esteróides e triterpenóides, Flavonóides, Glicosídeos, Polissacarídeos, Proteínas e Aminoácidos, Purinas, Saponina Espumídica e Taninos. Os resultados demonstraram que dos 18 elementos analisados nas espécies, desses, 10 elementos foram diagnosticados em ambas às espécies

Vida útil pós-colheita de genótipos de cebola sob temperatura ambiente.

Com o objetivo de avaliar a qualidade e a conservação pós-colheita, quatorze genótipos de cebola (IPA-03, IPA-04, IPA-08, IPA-10, IPA-11, Brisa, Texas Grano 502, Texas Grano 502 PRR, Red Creole, Granex 429, Alfa São Francisco, EX-19013, EX-07593000 e Sawana Sweet) foram armazenados sob temperatura ambiente (25,1±3,3ºC e 37±7% UR) e avaliados aos 0, 7, 14, 21 e 28 dias.Suplemento.
