The Quenched Continuum Limit
We show that all current formalisms for quarks in lattice QCD are consistent
in the quenched continuum limit, as they should be. We improve on previous
extrapolations to this limit, and the understanding of lattice systematic
errors there, by using a constrained fit including both leading and sub-leading

Essential Constraints of Edge-Constrained Proximity Graphs
Given a plane forest of points, we find the minimum
set of edges such that the edge-constrained minimum spanning
tree over the set of vertices and the set of constraints contains .
We present an -time algorithm that solves this problem. We
generalize this to other proximity graphs in the constraint setting, such as
the relative neighbourhood graph, Gabriel graph, -skeleton and Delaunay
triangulation. We present an algorithm that identifies the minimum set
of edges of a given plane graph such that for , where is the
constraint -skeleton over the set of vertices and the set of
constraints. The running time of our algorithm is , provided that the

X-ray photoelectron emission microscopy in combination with x-ray magnetic circular dichroism investigation of size effects on field-induced N\'eel-cap reversal
X-ray photoelectron emission microscopy in combination with x-ray magnetic
circular dichroism is used to investigate the influence of an applied magnetic
field on N\'eel caps (i.e., surface terminations of asymmetric Bloch walls).
Self-assembled micron-sized Fe(110) dots displaying a moderate distribution of
size and aspect ratios serve as model objects. Investigations of remanent
states after application of an applied field along the direction of N\'eel-cap
magnetization give clear evidence for the magnetization reversal of the N\'eel
caps around 120 mT, with a 20 mT dispersion. No clear correlation could be
found between the value of the reversal field and geometrical features of the
dots
Chiral nature of magnetic monopoles in artificial spin ice
Micromagnetic properties of monopoles in artificial kagome spin ice systems
are investigated using numerical simulations. We show that micromagnetics
brings additional complexity into the physics of these monopoles that is, by
essence, absent in spin models: besides a fractionalized classical magnetic
charge, monopoles in the artificial kagome ice are chiral at remanence. Our
simulations predict that the chirality of these monopoles can be controlled
without altering their charge state. This chirality breaks the vertex symmetry
and triggers a directional motion of the monopole under an applied magnetic
field. Our results also show that the choice of the geometrical features of the
lattice can be used to turn on and off this chirality, thus allowing the
investigation of chiral and achiral monopoles.Comment: 10 pages, 4 figure

Abstract Background Evidence supporting the effectiveness of care management programs for complex patients has been inconclusive. However, past reviews have not focused on complexity primarily defined by multimorbidity and healthcare utilization. We conducted a systematic review of care management interventions targeting the following three patient groups: adults with two or more chronic medical conditions, adults with at least one chronic medical condition and concurrent depression, and adults identified based solely on high past or predicted healthcare utilization. Methods Eligible studies were identified from PubMed, published between 06/01/2005 and 05/31/2015, and reported findings from a randomized intervention that tested a comprehensive, care management intervention. Identified interventions were grouped based on the three “complex” categories of interest (described above). Two investigators extracted data using a structured abstraction form and assessed RCT quality. Results We screened 989 article titles for eligibility from which 847 were excluded. After reviewing the remaining 142 abstracts, 83 articles were excluded. We reviewed the full-text of 59 full-text articles and identified 15 unique RCTs for the final analysis. Of these 15 studies, two focused on patients with two or more chronic medical conditions, seven on patients with at least one chronic medical condition and depression, and six on patients with high past or predicted healthcare utilization. Measured outcomes included utilization, chronic disease measures, and patient-reported outcomes. The seven studies targeting patients with at least one chronic medical condition and depression demonstrated significant improvement in depression symptoms (ranging from 9.2 to 48.7% improvement). Of the six studies that focused on high utilizers, two showed small reductions in utilization. The quality of the research methodology in most of the studies (12/15) was rated fair or poor. Conclusions Interventions were more likely to be successful when patients were selected based on having at least one chronic medical condition and concurrent depression, and when patient-reported outcomes were assessed. Future research should focus on the role of mental health in complex care management, finding better methods for identifying patients who would benefit most from care management, and determining which intervention components are needed for which patients

High density QCD with static quarks
We study lattice QCD in the limit that the quark mass and chemical potential
are simultaneously made large, resulting in a controllable density of quarks
which do not move. This is similar in spirit to the quenched approximation for
zero density QCD. In this approximation we find that the deconfinement
transition seen at zero density becomes a smooth crossover at any nonzero
density, and that at low enough temperature chiral symmetry remains broken at

The roughness of stylolites: Implications of 3D high resolution topography measurements
Stylolites are natural pressure-dissolution surfaces in sedimentary rocks. We
present 3D high resolution measurements at laboratory scales of their complex
roughness. The topography is shown to be described by a self-affine scaling
invariance. At large scales, the Hurst exponent is and
very different from that at small scales where . A
cross-over length scale at around \L_c =1~mm is well characterized.
Measurements are consistent with a Langevin equation that describes the growth
of a stylolitic interface as a competition between stabilizing long range
elastic interactions at large scales or local surface tension effects at small
