The purpose of this study is to use surveys to clarify students' awareness at the elementary, junior, and senior high school levels of food cultures and their related issues, and to formulate and implement a class program for junior and senior high schools based on the clarified results. The program will develop students' understanding of food cultures and seeks to combine and systematize home economics education among the three levels of schooling. The study found transformations among elementary and junior high school students, in terms of their understanding of the ideas of food cultures and related issues. In addition, class programs were formulated for Grade 9 students, to broaden their views on a range of topics, and for Grade 10 students, to broaden their view of changes over time, both of which ended with successful results

It is important for elementary, junior high, and high schools to manage their curriculums in cooperation to achieve the goals of home economics. In this research, we developed a collaborative curriculum, building on the concept of the “succession and creation of the Culture of Life”, which is one of the visions of the “perspectives on and attitudes about living behavior” included in the 2016 report from Japan’s Central Council for Education. We examined the results and assignments of the lesson topics concerning dietary life developed in the attached junior high school of Hiroshima University. Based on this, a performance plan was devised via the systematization of learning stories and learning contents. We analyzed students’ descriptions of “local production for local consumption” and “rice and living on rice” after the “Rice Cooking Contest Hiroshima 2016”. We considered and proposed a new framework of the qualities and abilities in the final stage of the curriculum

The purpose of this research decided to make the trial calculation of the C02 emissions in production of bread. The C02 emissions of the energy reason of the bread manufacturing process in a factory and a home were surveyed. The heat source of domestic oven has an electric formula and a gas type. Moreover, the C02 emissions of the automatic bread-baking machine UHome Bakery" were measured. As a result, C02 emissions were large when bread was baked in a domestic steam microwave oven and gas oven. It is thought that this difference is based on the size of the volume in a warehouse of oven. The C02 emissions in a factory, and in the case of a home bakery, it turned out that there is no big difference

Genetic Isolation between the Western and Eastern Pacific Populations of Pronghorn Spiny Lobster Panulirus penicillatus

The pronghorn spiny lobster, Panulirus penicillatus, is a circumtropical species which has the widest global distribution among all the species of spiny lobster, ranging throughout the entire Indo-Pacific region. Partial nucleotide sequences of mitochondrial DNA COI (1,142–1,207 bp) and 16S rDNA (535–546 bp) regions were determined for adult and phyllosoma larval samples collected from the Eastern Pacific (EP)(Galápagos Islands and its adjacent water), Central Pacific (CP)(Hawaii and Tuamotu) and the Western Pacific (WP)(Japan, Indonesia, Fiji, New Caledonia and Australia). Phylogenetic analyses revealed two distinct large clades corresponding to the geographic origin of samples (EP and CP+WP). No haplotype was shared between the two regional samples, and average nucleotide sequence divergence (Kimura's two parameter distance) between EP and CP+WP samples was 3.8±0.5% for COI and 1.0±0.4% for 16S rDNA, both of which were much larger than those within samples. The present results indicate that the Pacific population of the pronghorn spiny lobster is subdivided into two distinct populations (Eastern Pacific and Central to Western Pacific), with no gene flow between them. Although the pronghorn spiny lobster have long-lived teleplanic larvae, the vast expanse of Pacific Ocean with no islands and no shallow substrate which is known as the East Pacific Barrier appears to have isolated these two populations for a long time (c.a. 1MY)
