Este artículo analiza, desde una perspectiva general, las grandes etapas que se han sucedido en la historia del español con respecto a la dinámica entre variación y norma(s). Se argumenta que, partiendo de la difusión de la lengua en el mundo, así como de los nuevos enfoques en la teoría lingüística, solo en las últimas décadas parece haberse alcanzado un modelo normativo que, sin dejar de lado la preocupación por la unidad del español, puede permitir el encaje de sus diversas normas; unas normas que, por otro lado, y más allá de las Academias, tienden a una nueva convergencia en los medios de comunicación masiva que afianzará la potencia del español ante los retos que se vislumbran.This article discusses, from a general perspective, the major stages that have occurred in the history of the Spanish language with respect to the dynamics between variation and standard(s). Based on the language's diffusion around the world, as well as on current approaches to linguistic theory, it is argued that only in the last few decades has a regulatory model been reached that, without disregarding the concern for the unity of the Spanish language, can allow diverse standards to fit within a greater whole. Well beyond the scope of the Academies, these are norms that are inclined to lead toward to a new convergence in the mass media that will strengthen the power of the Spanish language to face future challenges

Spanish and latin american paremiology. Paremic americanisms

Desde mediados del siglo XX se plantea en español el debate teórico en torno al concepto de americanismo léxico, que se entiende de distintas formas en función del criterio adoptado. Sea como sea, resulta patente que existe un fondo léxico general al lado de numerosas voces particulares de determinadas variedades diatópicas. En este artículo se extiende el análisis a la paremiología y, después de la caracterización general de los refranes y de la reflexión sobre la actualidad de su uso en español, se aborda la variación geográfica que despliegan. Se argumenta que, al igual que existe un fondo panhispánico de refranes, producto del trasplante desde España hacia América, se han producido también reformulaciones del caudal heredado o nuevas acuñaciones en distintos territorios del Nuevo Mundo, de las que se ofrecen numerosos ejemplos y para las que se propone el uso de la etiqueta americanismo parémico, en paralelo a la ya tradicional de americanismo léxico.Theoretical discussions regarding the concept of lexical Americanisms, which are understood differently depending on the criteria adopted by the scholar, have been raised in the Spanish language since the mid-20th century. In any case, it is evident that there is a universal lexicon alongside numerous individual words belonging to certain regional varieties. This article extends the analysis to proverbs and, after a general description of sayings and a reflection on their current use in Spanish, it deals with the geographic variation they display. It is argued that, just as there is a pan-Hispanic collection of sayings, which has resulted from there having been spread from Spain to America, there have also been minor modifications to these aphorisms, as well as the appearance of coinages in different parts of the new world. Many examples are offered, and the use of the label paremic Americanism is proposed, in parallel to the already traditional lexical Americanism
