    Genotype – environment interaction for seed yield of maize hybrids and lines using the AMMI model

    The objective of this study was to assess genotype by environment interaction for seed yield in maize hybrids andlines growing in Western Poland using the additive main effects and multiplicative interaction model (AMMI). Thestudy comprised 32 maize genotypes (13 F1 hybrids and their 19 parental lines), evaluated in four environments(two locations in two years). Seed yield ranged from 2.50 t/ha (S311 in Łagiewniki 2013) to 18.31 t/ha (Popis inŁagiewniki 2014), with an average of 8.41 t/ha. The Popis hybrid had the highest average seed yield (15.53 t/ha),and the S56125A line had the lowest (3.65 t/ha). The average seed yield per environments also varied from 6.60t/ha in Łagiewniki 2013, to 9.95 t/ha in Smolice 2013. AMMI analyses revealed significant genotype (G) and environmental(E) effects as well as GE interaction effect with respect to seed yield. The analysis of variance explained14.59% of the total seed yield variation by environment, 77.41% by differences between genotypes, 6.50% by GEinteraction, and 1.50% by error. The Blask, Brda and Bejm hybrids are recommended for further inclusion in thebreeding program because of their stability and high averages of seed yields

    The considerations presented are an attempt to search for analogies between the influence of culture on the wellbeing of nations and the influence of pedagogical culture on the well-being of growing up generations. Raising the level of pedagogical culture, especially of parents, should be an important task of the Polish school. A somewhat forgotten tool for its realization is the pedagogization of parents, the rank of which should be systemically raised to a level ensuring its universal application.     Dwa początki toruńskiej zawodowej organizacji bibliotekarzy. Część 1: Koło Poznańsko-Pomorskie Związku Bibliotekarzy Polskich (1928–1939)

    This article aims to present the beginning of the professional union activity of Toruń’s librarians in their professional organization from 1928 until 1939. Right after WW1 none of independent librarians union was active neither in city nor in province (Pomerania). Toruń librarians participated in the works of the Circle of Poznań-Pomeranian Union of Polish Librarians. The headquarters of the Union was situated at the University Library of the Poznań University. The Circle was originated in 1928 by members of The Poznań Branch of Polish Librarians Union and director of The Copernicus Municipal Library in Toruń, Zygmunt Mocarski. He was a very strong personality among Toruń librarians. The paper describes his activity during the years 1919–1939 (i.e. also before his arrival in Toruń in 1923). The list of the Circle members from Toruń (and Pomearnia) is presented with some characteristics of librarians added. The same concerns institutions. The list contains librarians from the Municipal Library in Toruń but also army librarians and those from the Pedagogical Library as well as the institutions: the Library of the Corps District Command number VIII and the District Pedagogical Library for the School Superintendent's Office of the Pomeranian District in Toruń.Przedmiotem artykułu jest przedstawienie początków aktywności stowarzyszeniowej toruńskich bibliotekarzy, w ich organizacji zawodowej, w latach międzywojnia. Ani w mieście, ani na Pomorzu, nie powstała samodzielna organizacja bibliotekarzy. W latach 1928-1939, uczestniczono w pracach Koła Poznańsko-Pomorskiego Związku Bibliotekarzy Polskich. Siedzibą Koła była Biblioteka Uniwersytecka w Poznaniu. Powstało ono w 1928 r., stworzyli je, członkowie Koła Poznańskiego Związku oraz Zygmunt Mocarski, dyrektor Książnicy Miejskiej im. Kopernika w Toruniu. Zdecydowanie wyróżniał się on pośród toruńskich bibliotekarzy. Opisano zatem, jego poczynania w Związku Bibliotekarzy Polskich w latach 1919-1939, (tj. także przed jego przybyciem do Torunia w 1923 r.). Ustalono i scharakteryzowano, listę członków Koła z Torunia (i Pomorza) - bibliotekarzy i instytucji. Pośród nich znaleźli się bibliotekarze z Książnicy Miejskiej, bibliotekarze wojskowi, ale i pracownicy biblioteki pedagogicznej w Toruniu oraz biblioteka Dowództwa Okręgu Korpusu VIII i Okręgowa Biblioteka Pedagogiczna Kuratorium Okręgu Szkolnego Pomorskiego w Toruniu
