The aim of this paper is the presentation of the probit models analysis factors shaping innovation cooperation between companies and research. The practical issue is exemplified by the case of south –western Poland. The main aspect is the stimulation of innovation cooperation with the R&D sector. The article shows local influence of regional location of the participants of the supply chain on innovation cooperation between industrial companies of south-west Poland and universities, research institutes and Polish Academy of Science. The paper is divided into three significant parts focusing on: cooperation between business and universities and Polish Academy of Science, research institutes and foreign R&D centers. The author of chapter investigates the probability of innovation cooperation between R&D sector institutions and industrial companies of south-west Poland which operate locally or regionally, the probability of innovation cooperation between R&D sector institutions and industrial companies of south-west Poland which operate internationally or at least nationally and the probability of innovation cooperation between R&D sector institutions and large and medium-sized industrial companies of south-west Poland.Preparation and printing funded by the National Agency for Research and Development under project “Kreator Innowacyjności – wparcie dla Przedsiębiorczości akademickiej

    Risky behaviour and social activities

The aim of the study was to explore whether risky behaviour is reinforced or counterbalanced by various types of social and individual activities and the impacts on educational outcomes at age 16. The analysis is based on four waves of the Longitudinal Study of Young People in England together with National Pupil Database data. The data did not allow identification of the type of ‘structured and supervised’ positive activities promoted by policy to reduce risky behaviour and therefore could not (and was not intended to) test the effectiveness of this policy focus.Andreas Cebulla and Wojtek Tomaszewsk

Local approach to order continuity in Ces\`aro function spaces

The goal of this paper is to present a complete characterisation of points of order continuity in abstract Ces\`aro function spaces CXCX for XX being a symmetric function space. Under some additional assumptions mentioned result takes the form (CX)a=C(Xa)(CX)_a = C(X_a). We also find simple equivalent condition for this equality which in the case of I=[0,1]I=[0,1] comes to XLX\neq L^\infty. Furthermore, we prove that XX is order continuous if and only if CXCX is, under assumption that the Ces\`aro operator is bounded on XX. This result is applied to particular spaces, namely: Ces\`aro-Orlicz function spaces, Ces\`aro-Lorentz function spaces and Ces\`aro-Marcinkiewicz function spaces to get criteria for OC-points.Comment: 18 page

Lone parents and employment: an exploration of findings from the Families and Children Study 2006-08 (Working paper no 93)

    Get PDF
"In order to better understand some of the key issues for all mothers in combining paid work and parenting DWP and the National Centre for Social Research (NatCen) developed in 2006 a series of questions for use on the Families and Children Study (FACS)... The findings presented in this working paper refer to the FACS data for lone mothers only and it is the first time that the Choices and Constraints set has been analysed longitudinally. One reason for conducting this analysis was to contribute to the wider evidence on lone mothers’ decisions regarding employment. However, given that this question set will be used in future research projects, including the LPO evaluation, the analysis was also commissioned to inform how longitudinal data emerging from LPO might best be explored. For this reason this working paper also contains technical detail describing the analysis process itself." - Page 1
