Discriminant Subspace Analysis for Uncertain Situation in Facial Recognition

    Get PDF
Facial analysis and recognition have received substential attention from researchers in biometrics, pattern recognition, and computer vision communities. They have a large number of applications, such as security, communication, and entertainment. Although a great deal of efforts has been devoted to automated face recognition systems, it still remains a challenging uncertainty problem. This is because human facial appearance has potentially of very large intra-subject variations of head pose, illumination, facial expression, occlusion due to other objects or accessories, facial hair and aging. These misleading variations may cause classifiers to degrade generalization performance

Image rotation without scaling on spiral architecture

    Get PDF
Spiral Architecture is a relatively new and powerful approach to general purpose machine vision system. On this novel architecture, image rotation is achieved by Spiral Multiplication. However, the general image rotation on Spiral Architecture has two effects. One is scaling segmentation and the other is rotation. This paper presents an algorithm to achieve image rotation without scaling on Spiral Architecture, which improves the Spiral Architecture’s usage in image processing

Image Edge Detection in a Mimic Spiral Architecture

Detection of edge points of 3-dimensional physical objects in a 2-dimensional image is one of the main research areas of computer vision. Object contour detection and object recognition rely heavily on edge detection. In this paper, we present an edge detection scheme using Gaussian Multi-resolution Theory based on a mimic Spiral Architecture. The Spiral Architecture has been described in many papers. Although it has many ad-vantages such as powerful computational features in image processing especially in image edge detection, there is no available image capture device yet to support this structure. Hence, we mimic the Spiral Architecture from the existing image structure. This mimic structure inherits all computational features of the Spiral Architecture. The Gaussian Multi-resolution Theory is used to reduce noise and unnecessary details of the image

Replicated shared object model for edge detection with Spiral Architecture

Abstract. Edge detection in computer vision and image processing is a process which detects one kind of signi cant features appearing as discontinuities in intensities. A parallel edge detection algorithm based on Spiral Architeture is designed in this paper by a Replicated Shared Object Model (RSOM). We use this approach to meet the need of replicated object management, update propagation, underlying communication and consistency maintenance among replicated objects.

A new simulation of Spiral Architecture

Abstract- Spiral Architecture is a relatively new and powerful approach to machine vision system. The geometrical arrangement of pixels on Spiral architecture can be described in terms of a hexagonal grid. However, all the existing hardware for capturing image and for displaying image are produced based on rectangular architecture. It has become a serious problem affecting the advanced research on Spiral Architecture. In this paper, a new approach to mimicking Spiral Architecture is presented. This mimic Spiral Architecture almost retains image resolution and does not introduce distortion. Furthermore, images can be smoothly and easily transferred between the traditional square structure and this new hexagonal structure. In this paper, we also perform a fast way to locate hexagonal pixels. Another contribution in this paper is a novel construction of hexagonal pixels that are four times as big as the virtual hexagonal pixels. This construction of larger hexagonal pixels does not change the axes of symmetry, and does not create any spaces or overlaps between hexagons. Keywords: Hexagonal structure, Spiral Architecture.
