Multilingual Transformers for Product Matching -- Experiments and a New Benchmark in Polish

Product matching corresponds to the task of matching identical products across different data sources. It typically employs available product features which, apart from being multimodal, i.e., comprised of various data types, might be non-homogeneous and incomplete. The paper shows that pre-trained, multilingual Transformer models, after fine-tuning, are suitable for solving the product matching problem using textual features both in English and Polish languages. We tested multilingual mBERT and XLM-RoBERTa models in English on Web Data Commons - training dataset and gold standard for large-scale product matching. The obtained results show that these models perform similarly to the latest solutions tested on this set, and in some cases, the results were even better. Additionally, we prepared a new dataset entirely in Polish and based on offers in selected categories obtained from several online stores for the research purpose. It is the first open dataset for product matching tasks in Polish, which allows comparing the effectiveness of the pre-trained models. Thus, we also showed the baseline results obtained by the fine-tuned mBERT and XLM-RoBERTa models on the Polish datasets.Comment: 11 pages, 5 figure

A variety of goods and services in the contemporary world requires permanent improvement of services e-commerce platform performance. Modern society is so deeply integrated with mail deliveries, purchasing of goods and services online, that makes competition between service and good providers a key selection factor. As long as logistic, timely, and cost-effective delivery plays important part authors decided to analyze possible ways of improvements in the current field, especially for regions distantly located from popular distribution centers. Considering both: fast and lazy delivery the factor of costs is playing an important role for each end-user. Given work proposes a simulation that analyses the current cost of delivery for e-commerce orders in the context of delivery by the Supplier Fleet, World-Wide delivery service fleet, and possible vendor drop-ship and checks of the alternative ways can be used to minimize the costs. The main object of investigation is focused around mid and small businesses living far from big distribution centers (except edge cases like lighthouses, edge rocks with very limited accessibility) but actively using e-commerce solutions for daily activities fulfillment. Authors analyzed and proposed a solution for the problem of cost optimization for packages delivery for long-distance deliveries using a combination of paths delivered by supplier fleets, worldwide and local carriers. Data models and Add-ons of contemporary Enterprise Resource Planning systems were used, and additional development is proposed in the perspective of the flow selection change. The experiment is based on data sources of the United States companies using a wide range of carriers for delivery services and uses the data sources of the real companies; however, it applies repetitive simulations to analyze variances in obtained solutions

Poultry farming is one of the most promising areas of production not only in Ukraine but also in the world. This is due to the high demand for protein products and increased consumption. Ukraine does not use enough of its export potential in the agrarian sector. It is precisely these circumstances lead to choosing as the basis for the research the mentioned direction of production by domestic producers. The tendencies of the Ukrainian poultry enterprises development and features of the chicken market are generalized, namely the volume of cultivation and sale on the slaughter of poultry by Ukrainian producers, the cost price and profitability of poultry meat production have been analyzed; the specific features of the products range are defined in all competitor companies and products offered for export. The competitiveness of domestic poultry production in comparison with domestic and foreign analogues has been investigated. For the study the following enterprises as the LLS “Ptahokompleks” Gubin, TM “Pan Kurchak”, slaughter-house “Piorkowscy” and JSC “Superdrop” were taken. It is established that domestic products are competitive both in terms of price and taste properties. The dynamics of export and import of poultry meat in Ukraine and abroad is analyzed. Significant growth of poultry meat export as compared to previous periods has been revealed, which is explained by obtaining permit documents and implementation of measures by domestic producers to bring poultry products closer to international standards. The prospects for the development of the investigated production direction are designed

Phenotypic Overlap between MMP-13 and the Plasminogen Activation System during Wound Healing in Mice

BACKGROUND: Proteolytic degradation of extracellular matrix is a crucial step in the healing of incisional skin wounds. Thus, healing of skin wounds is delayed by either plasminogen-deficiency or by treatment with the broad-spectrum metalloproteinase (MP) inhibitor Galardin alone, while the two perturbations combined completely prevent wound healing. Both urokinase-type plasminogen activator and several matrix metallo proteinases (MMPs), such as MMP-3, -9 and -13, are expressed in the leading-edge keratinocytes of skin wounds, which may account for this phenotypic overlap between these classes of proteases. METHODOLOGY: To further test that hypothesis we generated Mmp13;Plau and Mmp13;Plg double-deficient mice in a cross between Mmp13- and Plau-deficient mice as well as Mmp13- and Plg-deficient mice. These mice were examined for normal physiology in a large cohort study and in a well-characterized skin wound healing model, in which we made incisional 20 mm-long full-thickness skin wounds. PRINCIPAL FINDINGS: While mice that are deficient in Mmp13 have a mean healing time indistinguishable to wild-type mice, wound healing in both Plau- and Plg-deficient mice is significantly delayed. Histological analysis of healed wounds revealed a significant increase in keratin 10/14 immunoreactive layers of kerationcytes in the skin surface in Mmp13;Plau double-deficient mice. Furthermore, we observe, by immunohistological analysis, an aberrant angiogenic pattern during wound healing induced by Plau-deficiency, which has not previously been described. CONCLUSIONS: We demonstrate a phenotypic overlap, defined as an additional delay in wound healing in the double-deficient mice compared to the individual single-deficient mice, between MMP-13 and the plasminogen activation system in the process of wound healing, but not during gestation and in postnatal development. Thus, a dual targeting of uPA and MMP-13 might be a possible future strategy in designing therapies aimed at tissue repair or other pathological processes, such as cancer invasion, where proteolytic degradation is a hallmark

High incidence of Noonan syndrome features including short stature and pulmonic stenosis in patients carrying NF1 missense mutations affecting p.Arg1809: genotype-phenotype correlation

Get PDF
Neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) is one of the most frequent genetic disorders, affecting 1:3,000 worldwide. Identification of genotype-phenotype correlations is challenging because of the wide range clinical variability, the progressive nature of the disorder, and extreme diversity of the mutational spectrum. We report 136 individuals with a distinct phenotype carrying one of five different NF1 missense mutations affecting p.Arg1809. Patients presented with multiple cafe-au-lait macules (CALM) with or without freckling and Lisch nodules, but no externally visible plexiform neurofibromas or clear cutaneous neurofibromas were found. About 25% of the individuals had Noonan-like features. Pulmonic stenosis and short stature were significantly more prevalent compared with classic cohorts (P<0.0001). Developmental delays and/or learning disabilities were reported in over 50% of patients. Melanocytes cultured from a CALM in a segmental NF1-patient showed two different somatic NF1 mutations, p.Arg1809Cys and a multi-exon deletion, providing genetic evidence that p.Arg1809Cys is a loss-of-function mutation in the melanocytes and causes a pigmentary phenotype. Constitutional missense mutations at p.Arg1809 affect 1.23% of unrelated NF1 probands in the UAB cohort, therefore this specific NF1 genotype-phenotype correlation will affect counseling and management of a significant number of patients

Purpose: Evaluate response of mismatch repair deficient (dMMR) rectal cancer to neoadjuvant chemotherapy. Experimental Design: dMMR rectal tumors at Memorial Sloan Kettering were retrospectively reviewed for characteristics, treatment, and outcomes. Fifty dMMR rectal cancer patients were identified by immunohistochemistry and/or microsatellite instability analysis, with initial treatment response compared to a matched pMMR rectal cancer cohort. Germline and somatic mutation analyses were evaluated. Patient-derived dMMR rectal tumoroids were assessed for chemotherapy sensitivity. Results: Of 21 patients receiving neoadjuvant chemotherapy (fluorouracil/oxaliplatin), 6 (29%) had progression of disease. In comparison, no progression was noted in 63 pMMR rectal tumors (P = 0.0001). Rectal cancer dMMR tumoroids reflected this resistance to chemotherapy. No genomic predictors of chemotherapy response were identified. Of 16 patients receiving chemoradiation, 13 (93%) experienced tumor downstaging; one patient had stable disease, comparable to 48 pMMR rectal cancers. Of 13 patients undergoing surgery, 12 (92%) had early-stage disease. Forty-two (84%) of the 50 patients tested positive for Lynch syndrome (LS) with enrichment of germline MSH2 and MSH6 mutations when compared to 193 LS-associated colon cancer patients (MSH2, 57% vs 36%; MSH6, 17% vs 9%; P < .003). Conclusions: Over one-fourth of dMMR rectal tumors treated with neoadjuvant chemotherapy exhibited disease progression. Conversely, dMMR rectal tumors were sensitive to chemoradiation. MMR status should be performed upfront in all locally advanced rectal tumors with careful monitoring for response on neoadjuvant chemotherapy and genetic testing for LS in dMMR rectal cancer patients

Theoretical essence of risks, hazards and threats in the context of enterprise economic safety provision

Subject, purpose of work. In the article it was conducted a theoretical generalization of the essence of concepts such as: risk, danger and threat of economic activity, as well as it was revealed their nature and interconnection was established. It is proved the possibility of ensuring the economic security of the enterprise on the basis of realization of the essence of risks, dangers and threats of enterprise economic activity. Method or methodology of work. In the course of the research there were used the following general scientific and specific methods and techniques of cognition such as induction and deduction, analysis and synthesis, and scientific abstraction. The result of work. It has been established that the competitive environment hides some uncertainty, which requires the enterprise to make economic decisions. Each economic decision, in its turn, is likely to endanger the risks which can lead to dangerous situations in the absence of influence on them. The risk may be justified, which ultimately gives the company new opportunities for development, and may be unjustifiable, which will contain a number of hazards that can threaten the enterprise. Thus, the provision of economic security is seen to mitigate the negative effects of factors that directly or indirectly influence the adoption of risky decisions in order to prevent the threats of the enterprise. Therefore, the threat is a form of danger that arises as a result of a risky economic decision. The approaches to the classification of threats of enterprise activity are summarized, which give an expanded view of the causes of their occurrence and management tools in order to avoid or mitigate negative consequences. The field of results application. The obtained results can be applied at formation, maintenance and increase of economic safety of the enterprise. Conclusions. The combination of approaches to understanding the essence of risks, threats and dangers underline once again the lack of consensus on the nature of these concepts. However, despite this fact, the following can be noted: the presence of risks, threats and dangers compels the enterprise to develop, learn, refine and sharpen its protective mechanisms in order to minimize the influence of these factors on economic activity. Classification of threats enables to identify the tools for managing them in the process of ensuring the economic security of the enterprise

No full text
The task of achieving greater flexibility and maneuverability of small transport and service units’ motion in modern factories by developing small autonomous navigation systems plays crucial role in complex automation of transport logistics nowadays. To solve navigation task, it was proposed the following approach, where as a means of assessing the environment was used computer vision system based on 5-megapixel CMOS image sensor and for the front obstacle detection was used auxiliary ultrasonic sensor as a limit switch. Authors solved the problem of yawing using artificial marking approach as along two-colored leading lines. For maneuverability increase during the turn was used speed movement control based on lines perspective. The basic design and technical characteristics of the four-wheel drive platform and the algorithm of the Raspberry PI 3/Arduino Nano hybrid control system are presented. Experimental results proved the viability of the proposed approach

The models are developed and the analysis of the stress-strain state of the elements of mine conveyors is carried out. For this purpose, the method of generalized parametric modeling has been adapted and developed. It allows to vary design solutions of the studied object. In this case it becomes possible to carry out multivariate studies of stress-strain state. On this basis, it is possible to solve the tasks of purpose-oriented improvement of structures according to the criteria of strength and rigidity. In the work, a comparison is made for two design variants for shaft conveyor scraper. Peculiarities of the stress-strain state of scrapers are determined, limiting loading values are calculated, which leads to scrapers destruction. These studies demonstrated the possibility of a developed method for studying the stress-strain state and the justification of technical solutions for products with high technical characteristics.Розроблено моделі та здійснено аналіз напружено-деформованого стану елементів шахтових конвеєрів.
