High-Resolution Measurements of Intersystem Bands of Carbon Monoxide toward X Persei
In an echelle spectrum of X Per acquired with the Space Telescope Imaging
Spectrograph we have identified individual rotational lines of 11
triplet-singlet (intersystem) absorption bands of ^12CO. Four bands provide
first detections for interstellar clouds. From a comparison with the zeta Oph
sight line we find that X Per is obscured by a higher 12CO column density of
1.4 x 10^16 cm-2. Together with the high spectral resolution of 1.3 km s-1,
this allows (i) an improved measurement of previously published f-values for
seven bands, and (ii) an extraction of the first astrophysical oscillator
strengths for d-X (8-0), (9-0), and (10-0), as well as for e-X (12-0). The
^13CO d-X (12-0) band, previously suspected to exist toward zeta Oph, is now
readily resolved and modeled. Our derived intersystem f-values for ^12CO
include a few mild (leq 34%) disagreements with recent predictions from a
perturbation analysis calculated for the interstellar excitation temperature.
Overall, the comparison confirms the superiority of employing multiple singlet
levels in the calculations of mixing coefficients over previous single-level

Hamara Healthy Living Centre - an evaluation
Hamara is a Healthy Living Centre which aims to improve health and well-being through providing a range of culturally appropriate activities and services. Hamara has a vision of 'bringing communities together' and since it was established in 2004, the Centre has provided a valuable community resource in South Leeds. Partnership work between Hamara and Leeds Met goes back to 2002. In 2007, the Centre for Health Promotion Research carried out an evaluation of Hamara in partnership with Hamara staff and Leeds Met Community Partnerships and Volunteering. This was followed by a highly successful community cohesion conference 'One Community' which was held at Hamara on 10th October 2008, and was supported through a Leeds Met public engagement grant. The event attracted over a hundred people from diverse communities and organisations across Leeds. A packed audience heard Hilary Benn, local MP and Patron of Hamara, talk about the importance of working in collaboration around community cohesion. Jane South, Centre for Health Promotion Research, presented the main evaluation results and set out the some challenges for the future. The proceedings concluded with the presentation of awards to a number of for local community champions who work to bring people together and make a real difference in the city of Leeds
Championing mental health at work: emerging practice from innovative projects in the UK.
This paper examines the value of participatory approaches within interventions aimed at promoting mental health and wellbeing in the workplace. Specifically the paper explores data from the thematic evaluation of the Mental Health and Employment project strand within the Altogether Better programme being implemented in England in the Yorkshire and Humber region, which was funded through the BIG Lottery and aimed to empower people across the region to lead better lives. The evaluation combined a systematic evidence review with semi-structured interviews across mental health and employment projects. Drawing on both evaluation elements, the paper examines the potential of workplace-based 'business champions' to facilitate organizational culture change within enterprises within a deprived regional socio-economic environment. First, the paper identifies key policy drivers for interventions around mental health and employment, summarizes evidence review findings and describes the range of activities within three projects. The role of the 'business champion' emerged as crucial to these interventions and therefore, secondly, the paper examines how champions' potential to make a difference depends on the work settings and their existing roles, skills and motivation. In particular, champions can proactively coordinate project strands, embed the project, encourage participation, raise awareness, encourage changes to work procedures and strengthen networks and partnerships. The paper explores how these processes can facilitate changes in organizational culture. Challenges of implementation are identified, including achieving leverage with senior management, handover of ownership to fellow employees, assessing impact and sustainability. Finally, implications for policy and practice are discussed, and conclusions drawn concerning the roles of champions within different workplace environments

Numerical analysis of droplet deposition in inkjet printed electronics assembly
In this paper, a computational approach for the analysis of microscale droplet impact dynamics is presented. The approach is intended to support a condition based monitoring system to enhance quality and reliability of inkjet printed electronics components. The Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) approach of Lucy and Gingold and Monaghan has been used as the basis for the model, with the δ-SPH terms of Marrone et al used to improve handling of the dynamic impact events and the gradient correction terms of Belytschko used to improve the accuracy of interface dynamics. Model validation has been performed through comparison against a macroscale dam break problem and through a microscale analysis designed to determine accurate surface tension-pressure behaviour based on the Young-Laplace relation. The model is used to assess impact of a single drop on a uniform surface and the three dimensional formation of multi-drop layers
On variable frequency microwave processing of heterogeneous chip-on-board assemblies
Variable Frequency Microwave (VFM) processing of heterogeneous chip-on-board assemblies is assessed using a multiphysics modelling approach. The Frequency Agile Microwave Oven Bonding System (FAMOBS) is capable of rapidly processing individual packages on a Chip-On-Board (COB) assembly. This enables each package to be processed in an optimal manner, with temperature ramp rate, maximum temperature and process duration tailored to the specific package, a significant benefit in assemblies containing disparate package types. Such heterogeneous assemblies may contain components such as large power modules alongside smaller modules containing low thermal budget materials with highly disparate processing requirements. The analysis of two disparate packages has been assessed numerically to determine the applicability of the dual section microwave system to curing heterogeneous devices and to determine the influence of differing processing requirements of optimal process parameters
