    A sharp bound for the resurgence of sums of ideals

    We prove a sharp upper bound for the resurgence of sums of ideals involving disjoint sets of variables, strengthening work of Bisui--H\`a--Jayanthan--Thomas. Complete solutions are delivered for two conjectures proposed by these authors. For given real numbers aa and bb, we consider the set Res(a,b)(a,b) of possible values of the resurgence of I+JI+J where II and JJ are ideals in disjoint sets of variables having resurgence aa and bb, respectively.     Effects of yeast extract and methyl jasmonate on the enhancement of solasodine biosynthesis in cell cultures of Solanum hainanense Hance

    In this work, the eļ¬€ects of the elicitors methyl jasmonate (MeJA) and yeast extract (YE) on the growth and solasodine production of Solanum hainanense cells were investigated. The results showed that various concentrations of MeJA (50-250 ĀµM) and YE (1-4 g/L) have diļ¬€erent eliciting inļ¬‚uences. The increase of solasodine content induced by the elicitation of 3 g/L of YE and 50 ĀµM of MeJA at the beginning of cell culture was about 1.9- and 1.3-fold, respectively, as compared with that of the non-elicitated cells. In general, YE (biotic elicitor) was more eļ¬€ective in enhancing solasodine production than MeJA (abiotic elicitor)

    One-pot microwave-assisted green synthesis of amine-functionalized graphene quantum dots for high visible light photocatalytic application

    Nowadays, graphene quantum dots (GQDs) have gained a huge interest in the field of visible-range photocatalysts because of their tunable band gap and stable photochemical properties. In this work, amine-functionalized GQDs (AGQDs) were successfully prepared by one-step microwave-assisted conversion of glucose, H2O2, and NH3 solution. The obtained quantum dots possess the high quality of graphene structure with the average size of 3.78 nm as well as exhibit a strong green fluorescence with a high quantum yield. Interestingly, the amine-functionalized dots perform outstanding visible-light absorption. To further investigate photocatalytic properties, a composite of AGQDs and TiO2 was then prepared by a simple mixing route. The hybrid material showed high catalytic activity of dye degradation under visible light irradiation, which indicates the key role of AGQDs in enhancing light absorption and induced electronā€“hole separation. The current study may open a new way for construction of effective visible light photocatalytic systems with a cost-effective, simple approach.Scopu

    TextANIMAR: Text-based 3D Animal Fine-Grained Retrieval

    3D object retrieval is an important yet challenging task, which has drawn more and more attention in recent years. While existing approaches have made strides in addressing this issue, they are often limited to restricted settings such as image and sketch queries, which are often unfriendly interactions for common users. In order to overcome these limitations, this paper presents a novel SHREC challenge track focusing on text-based fine-grained retrieval of 3D animal models. Unlike previous SHREC challenge tracks, the proposed task is considerably more challenging, requiring participants to develop innovative approaches to tackle the problem of text-based retrieval. Despite the increased difficulty, we believe that this task has the potential to drive useful applications in practice and facilitate more intuitive interactions with 3D objects. Five groups participated in our competition, submitting a total of 114 runs. While the results obtained in our competition are satisfactory, we note that the challenges presented by this task are far from being fully solved. As such, we provide insights into potential areas for future research and improvements. We believe that we can help push the boundaries of 3D object retrieval and facilitate more user-friendly interactions via vision-language technologies.Comment: arXiv admin note: text overlap with arXiv:2304.0573

    In silico analysis of hypermethylation of E-cadherin gene promoter in Nasopharyngeal carcinoma

    Background: DNA hypermethylation changes in CpG islands of promoter region of E-cadherin (E-cad) gene, one of the tumor suppressor genes, have been described to be involved the formation and progression of human nasopharyngeal carcinoma, which is the most common and highly incident cancer of head and neck cancer in Asian countries, especially in Vietnam. Purpose: In Vietnam, there is still no research about E-cad promoter methylation in NPC, thus, in current report, a systematic literature revision was carried out to summary the current evidences about the frequencies of Ecad gene promoter on NPC for further applied in Vietnamese population. Methods: A systematic literature analysis was conducted based on the comprehensive search of observational studies. Moreover, CpG islands of candidate gene and transcriptional factors were predicted by using many bioinformatics tools, such as Methprimer, TFsearch, etc. Results: Total of 9 previous published studies were identified and accessed for eligibility from the literature research and enrolled into systematic revision. The variants of E-cad hypermethylation frequency ranked from 11.0% to 64.55% were observed. Moreover, the average weight frequencies of methylated and unmethylated E-cad gene promoter were 55.46% and 40.78%, respectively. Moreover, by several bioinformatics tools, we were successful in predicting the CpG islands as well as identifing transcriptional factor binding sites, served as ā€œhot spotā€ for ideal primer pick up, located in candidate gene promoter. Conclusion: Based on these data, it suggested that the hypermethylation of E-cad gene promoter was a significant characteristic of NPC, in which, it could be further applied in evaluation of E-cad gene promoter status in Vietnamese population

    In vitro bioactivities of Codonopsis javanica root extract from Kon Tum province, Vietnam

    Dangshen Codonopsis javanica exhibits invaluable medicinal properties in herbal remedies; however, there has currently not been much specific analysis of the phytochemicals and bioactivities of this plant. The root ethanol extract of C. javanica contains substances such as saponins, phenolic acids, terpenoids, and alkaloids. It displays an antibacterial effect against Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus, and Bacillus cereus with the IC50 values of 150, 100, 150, and 90 Ī¼g/mL, respectively. The antioxidant capacity of the root extract was also observed with an IC50 value of 46.8 Ā± 6.8 Ī¼g/mL. Furthermore, the extract exhibits activity on human cancer cell lines HepG2 (IC50 = 83.6 Ā± 2.7 Ī¼g/mL) and MCF-7 (IC50 = 95.3 Ā± 2.3 Ī¼g/mL). Hence, this study provides the basic data for further research on the bioactivities of natural compounds of Dangshen C. javanica for the first time

    Establishing protocol for detecting methylation of Ubiquitin carboxyl terminal hydrolase 1 geneā€™s promoter in nasopharyngeal carcinoma

    Background: The methylation of Ubiquitin Carboxyl Terminal Hydrolase 1 (UCHL1) geneā€™s promoter has been reported as the etiological factor of nasopharyngeal tumorigenesis. Purpose: This study is designed to establish a protocol for detecting methylation of UCHL1 geneā€™s promoter in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) in a Vietnamese population. Materials and methods: 10 samples of NPC biopsy tissues and 10 samples of non-cancerous swabs were collected from the local hospital. Chloroform/Phenol method and Nested-MSP assays were established to detect methylation of a target gene. Results: The isolated DNA reached purity and high concentration which were confirmed by the method of absorbance measurement at 260nm and 280nm. Additionally, the Nested-MSP products of methylation or unmethylation were analyzed and visualized in the agarose gel with the band of 169bps and 210bps, respectively. By sequencing, it was confirmed that the two sets of primer could distinguish the status of methylation and unmethylation of UCHL1 geneā€™s promoter. Conclusion: Our data suggested that the current protocol could successfully identify the status of methylation and/or unmethylation of UCHL1 geneā€™s promoter
