Color Octet Scalar Bound States at the LHC
One possible extension of the Standard Model scalar sector includes SU(2)_L
doublet scalars that are color octets rather than singlets. We focus on models
in which the couplings to fermions are consistent with the principle of minimal
flavor violation (MFV), in which case these color octet scalars couple most
strongly to the third generation of quarks. When the Yukawa coupling of color
octet scalars to Standard Model fermions is less than unity, these states can
live long enough to bind into color-singlet spin-0 hadrons, which we call
octetonia. In this paper, we consider the phenomenology of octetonia at the
Large Hadron Collider (LHC). Predictions for their production via gluon-gluon
fusion and their two-body decays into Standard Model gauge bosons, Higgs
bosons, and \bar{t}t are presented.Comment: 13 pages, 5 figures, published versio
Anomalous Hall effect in the Co-based Heusler compounds CoFeSi and CoFeAl
The anomalous Hall effect (AHE) in the Heusler compounds CoFeSi and
CoFeAl is studied in dependence of the annealing temperature to achieve a
general comprehension of its origin. We have demonstrated that the crystal
quality affected by annealing processes is a significant control parameter to
tune the electrical resistivity as well as the anomalous Hall
resistivity . Analyzing the scaling behavior of in
terms of points to a temperature-dependent skew scattering as the
dominant mechanism in both Heusler compounds
Control law synthesis and optimization software for large order aeroservoelastic systems
A flexible aircraft or space structure with active control is typically modeled by a large-order state space system of equations in order to accurately represent the rigid and flexible body modes, unsteady aerodynamic forces, actuator dynamics and gust spectra. The control law of this multi-input/multi-output (MIMO) system is expected to satisfy multiple design requirements on the dynamic loads, responses, actuator deflection and rate limitations, as well as maintain certain stability margins, yet should be simple enough to be implemented on an onboard digital microprocessor. A software package for performing an analog or digital control law synthesis for such a system, using optimal control theory and constrained optimization techniques is described
